  • awwww she is toooooooooooooooo cute !!!!!

  • Whoever decided to turn the foot around for these amputees had one great mind...she did well with that :) how great to have an opportunity to walk fairly normally....I couldnt imagine trying to walk with a prosthesis...I fall over my own feet as it is

  • Hi, i would like to know did she get the surgery were they turned her foot around? I think i have the similar case as her, i was very scared and never did the surgery and doctors proposed to me of doing that procedure, is it much better? Is she Happy? Thanks :)

  • shes a strong little girl. i am more of a sissy. i have a friend that also had that surgery when he was 13.

  • I tried to send you a message, not sure if it went... I also have the RP surgery, but my artificial leg looks more simple to put on and "mess" with. I walk quite well and am not limited by it...please feel free to contact me.

  • When she goes to move her foot, is it like actually moving a knee or does it feel like moving a foot?

  • @BlownUpp

Probably more like a "cross" of the two sensations, than either one of them alone!

  • With the foot turned around she can use it like a below the knee amputee. Much greater range of motion.

  • Wy was her foot turned al the way roud and she could still pt the artificial leg on

  • why the hell is her leg backwards!!!!!!

  • @YannickNovacek

'Cause she had cancer and instead of amputating the whole leg and thigh, they grafted her ankle and part of her lower leg onto where the thigh would have been a stump.

  • Yes, having no leg at all would be better then being mobile and able to work with her prosthesis. What an idiot

  • this is most fucked thing i've ever seen.

why they didn't amputated her leg?

  • @MegaDev2010 If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.

  • @MegaDev2010

That is the most ~@cked comment I've ever seen made about this kind of thing I agree with wordreet, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything!

  • I had the same surgery at the mayo in 1986 or 87, I can't remember anymore. I was, and am very satisfied with the results.I am 34 now and was 11 or 12 when I had the surgery. I wish you the same luck I have had.

  • Wow the looks very nice on her. Good job girl! You rock!

  • were you born like that or did you have a rotation plasty?

  • im sorry but that is the most fucked up thing i have ever seen. why not just cut the leg off?

  • because it allows more function than just a regular above knee amputation

  • @Qdrum803

    because its more functional.

And do you think its necessary for a grown man to make a comment like that about a little girl? You must be a very lonely person

  • This is so encouraging to me. I have a son that was born with PFFD and he is going to eventually have to have this type of surgery to reverse his foot so that it serves as a "knee". Is there anyway someone could contact me if possible via email. I have all types of questions to ask. Thanks you so much for posting this.

  • I have heard (from a couple of people) that this type of "fix" (at least for cancer victims) appears to be temporary (as a "BK" procedure), the ankle just isn't really adequate as a "replacement" for the knee. This is one brave child, I sure hope it goes better for her than the people I have heard about.

  • Check out the other videos. She is doing great.

  • The individual I had conversed with had had a rotationplasty procedure and was mostly dissatisfied with the available range of motion (compared to his real knee), and so had his "leg" (foot, actually, of course) amputated through the "knee" (ankle), and a "c"-leg built. This is not to say all people with this corrective procedure will have the same results, as I said previously, I wish her the very best of success with this. A friend of his, according to him had the same problem/solution.

  • @prfweapon

I'm not saying that she isn't.

Some who have had this procedure have later found that over time the function isn't "all it's cracked up to be", some have even had the new "knee" removed.

I wish her all the luck in the world, don't get me wrong, if it continues to work for her so much the better, it certainly looks as if it beats having the whole leg gone!

  • she's so brave

  • pretty kewl!

  • Picked up the new leg on Friday morning. She was very scared of it. Probably because she fell the week before and hurt her little leg really bad. So she didn't want to let go of her walker. But yesterday in Chinatown she started to walk on her own. The more we cheered for her the more steps she took. She be running before we know it.

  • That is so awesome! When did she get it?
