Willowscat1 - my thoughts exactly but only with Ian Dury reading Cervantes words over the coda - "I do not think they asked why they were dying but why they had lived."
At the start of tonight's telecast of the Ashes this song was used very prominently. Not sure if it is the Australians or the English who are meant to be dreaming.
this song took me out of trouble giving motivation whenever i needed some.
its the first time i need it...and now i realize the video is based on my favorite book. don quijote de la mancha, probably the most superb thing to come out of spanish literature. awesome..
Well said m8 ....... should have been much bigger than they actually were, but i think its not what the boys wanted, they weren't in it for the fame or money. At least thats what i like to think .... they weren't sell outs
Yeah agree m8, seen them at the Royal Court in Liverpool just after the Smash Hits thing with Schofield.....best concert I have ever seen, and pure class lads too!
great band, seen them a few times at fibbers in york and leeds uni.unforgetable tunes, one of those bands that should have been bigger, bit like shed seven under rated to the masses.
Does anyone know where i can find Carters version of Ruby Tuesday???...looked everywhere and cant find it.
Also Carter have a gig coming up in November in Birmingham (not sure how true it is but apparently EMF are going to support them, which might be a bit tricky as the lead singer died in 2001)
Actually it was bassist Zac Foley who died (the one who could infamously fit a whole orange under his foreskin). James Atkin is still alive and kicking and Zac's been replaced by the basist from PWEI.
Bit of a sad comment to make, but I'm going out to this song... "When I'm laid to my rest..." The perfect exit... not now obviously... gotta dig Carter some more yet!
I remember seeing them in Belfast in the year this album was released. They were a fantastic live experience! I had my tongue down a fat goth girls throat when this came on. She thought i looked like kurt cobain, but i clearly dont because i'm dark with brown hair, and kurt was pasty white with blonde hair.Didn't mind though, being told that in those days was pretty cool!!
It could be worse. I had a ticket for that night and I was not allowed the day off work, even though I asked for it months in advance - as a co-worker was assaulted and could not do his shift.
they can hardly be called the 'indie pet shop boys', not so long ago they were a well-known and respected uk punk band; and the extraordinary video with a deep and hidden message and symbolism is anything but hilarious.. nontheless, thanx for posting it.
I've never seen this video before! Great stuff, bet Jimbob and Fruity had a right laugh making this.
