  • I simply love the double.. it's amazing

  • Sarah lost everything in the fall

    Like dead leaves,

So she now plays on the street

With a box that is set out so neat

    She's a one man band

    Making her last stand

    With a sarabande

    She pawned her wedding band

    Some time ago

So this is Sara's last dance.

  • @spinoza1111 what a fuck?

  • @jasonform They call me the Oyster I throw pearls before swine They come here to roister I write much too fine. The dull stares turn cold And then some of the bold Start throwing their stones In the valley of bones. I dance in the middle, But they're maddened by blood And so hey diddle diddle I must be covered in mud No problemo...,.no sweat Because you can bet I'm laughing at you With a laugh that is true!
  • It's lovely and I like Stern's style but for Bach this sounds completely out of place to me - I got so much used to authentic recordings that I wouldn't want to listen to any other way of playing nowadays. In 300 years we have had enough info on the violin and the way it was played at that time. It's like making croissants with margarine..

  • Well, I really love the double III (from 2:04- end)after the sarabande myself

  • Well, it is in tune...Could be worse I guess, although it tends to be uncharacteristically lifeless for Stern.

  • thank you for posting. it's a very interesting recording. is it on the market? i've never seen it. and does stern play the whole piece on your recording

  • these two pieces are from side B of stern tribute, and they are only 2 pieces from partita 1 on that cd set. I'd like to hear him play the whole partita though.

  • i love the b min sarabande

  • Me too. But I don't like Isaac Stern's rendition.

  • its certainly not bad but its not my favorite either

  • actually, I have a live recording of him playing the whole g-moll sonata (among other things) - and it is magnificent, the best I have ever heard. Maybe playing for a microphone wasn't his thing and that's why he didn't do it in the end? Btw, his Ciaccona rendition here on youtube is not anything special too, not for an artist of his statue anyway.

  • @symfotroll can you post the recording? would be fascinating to hear

  • @pinchaszukerm I'll try to post it at at the beginning of May, no time at the moment. Would have done it ages ago, but you can't just upload an audio so it gets a bit complicated with having to create some kind of a video. What's the simplest way to do it btw?
