  • Hey what is this all about... Nugent there is no reason to start a big argument. jake just leave it man it isn't worth your time.

  • hey nugent4heisman, how about this....how about you grow a pair of balls, find your dick and then maybe, just maybe, u just might be able to go fuck yourself. I'm begging you to actually acquire some knowledge about what you are talking about and then I want you to come back on here and see how fucking idiotic your posts look, douche.

  • MAN I LOVE BEING PART OF THIS BAND. :) THIS WAS WAY TO MUCH FUN BEING IN NEW YORK AND PARTICIPATING IN ONE OF THE BIGGEST PARADES EVER. :) AND I HAVE TO ADMIT CALIFORNIA WAS AMAZING TOO. :)

  • w00t! go saxes! i will forever remember. great experience. cant wait for the Rose Bowl! gotta love us

    "Chop chop it on out!"

    lmao!

  • Each band was shown differently, some from the camera walking among them, some from above, some from the front, on/off the star, all angles. There is no fault here, just a truly memorable moment in PHSCMB history!

  • y didn't they show more of the band!!!!!

  • one of the top most amazing moments of my life right there.

at exactly 0:42 you can see me. third up from the back on the back block near the guard. CLARINET :) I'm so lame

  • i think the percussion deserved the spotlight. They have worked hard starting in june and it didn't pay off at states but its good to see it paid off at macys and hopefully at rose bowl too

  • We scored two 1+'s and a 1 at states as a percussion section.

  • yes i know..it didn't pay off as a band by gettin a two :(

  • and? the percussion scores are irrelevant. especially with relatively easy music this year. it was a cool show, but sadly the judges didn't warm up to it.

  • The percussion scores are a fairly large step above irrelevant. And the importance of those scores has very little to do the level of music being played. They will always be important, whether the drum line is playing easy or hard music.

Our music was harder this year than in previous years. It's not the hardest, but by no means would I describe as relatively easy.

  • actually the level of music has EVERYTHING to do with scores. Skill and difficulty matter.

And I worked your band camp this year, all the music was easy. The past few years have been easier.. but come on. Don;t kid yourself. Pickerington used to have a bad ass band with a bad ass drumline...now its just mediocre at best. a 2 at states? unheard of and unacceptable in such a great program. My heart goes out to Mr. Sewell

  • You are a moron, and you don't understand my point. You said percussion scores are irrelevant; they are not. I clearly explained that percussion scores are always important, whether they are high or low. Ours were the former; we scored two 1+'s and a 1 as a drum line (a 1 means superior in OMEA rankings) for an overall score of (you guessed it) a 1. We did not score a 2 at states. Superior is not a synonym for mediocre.

  • the band got a 2 at states. Don't talk down to me like I don't know OMEA or pickerington bands. I did my 4 years in Pickerington Bands and hit the Rose Bowl. The tiger band had their worst year in 25 years this year as signified by the 2 in states..which they haven't received in how many years? ...exactly. but hey.. great drumline??? doesn't make sense.

  • I will talk down to you however I wish after you call anything I am a part of mediocre. I don't care if you are Mr. Sewell at this point. Don't tell me I'm not good at what I do. I'm not impressed by the fact you taught at band camp, or went through band at Pickerington. A lot of people have done both of those things. That doesn't validate your opinion.

I don't know how I can drill this into your brain any more: the drum line did not score a 2 at states. Not even close.

  • Your problem is that you're claiming the drumline score is the important part. The band, as a whole, scored a two. This band should not be in Macys or the Rose Bowl when you aren't in the top 50 bands in Ohio

And fyi, theres no way to validate an opinion, obviously pickerington's schooling has failed you there. This years band is hands down the worst Mr. Sewell has had in the past 25 years, while not bad, is not impressive in the least. He deserves better than this. You arent that good, sorry.

  • The drum line score is the important part, if we're discussing the drum line, you fucking idiot.

  • I AM NOT DISCUSSING DRUMLINE SCORE. I am telling you that drumline scores are irrelevant because the big picture ( the band) got a 2. It's like saying I scored 3 touchdowns but my team lost; who gives a shit. The Central drumline ain't shit compared to Central Crossing, The 3 dublins, or lancaster. Grow up son. These schools have it. You don't. The fact that you keep trying to talk drum line score bores me. I told you once its not what im discussing. either listen or move on. Dont be an ass.

  • No. It's like saying the offense scored 8 touchdowns while the defense let in 9. Doesn't mean the offense is terrible. I never said we were the best. I said we were good. Which we are.

you. I don't care if you're bored. I'm defending something that I'm a part of.

  • Lancaster is not good. The were asking us how our drum line played so well when our football teams played. For reference, they included a Green Day song in their 2007 show. And danced to it. I have never even heard of Central Crossing. The Dublin bands probably are better than ours, but we aren't discussing Dublin, are we? The best central Ohio drum lines by far are Centerville and Hilliard Darby. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

  • lancaster is good. Does including a greenday song 2 years ago make them bad? You played disney. come on.

And if you have never heard of central crossing, you are an idiot. They are the sister school of grove city and kick just as much ass as grove city used to. They win everywhere they go. Shows your ignorance. I know my drumlines. Darby is great. Centerville is ok. Central Crossing, Darby and Dublin probably have the best 3 but I am sure you already know that. SO young and so uneducated.

  • Centerville and Hilliard Darby are sponsored by IP. You don't know anything. They each competed in the WGI circuit. Lancaster is trash. Disney is somewhat classic music; Green Day is modern rock. Disney music is meant to be played by an orchestra; Green Day is for a five piece rock band. The fact that you don't realize these things further proves my point that you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • I have not been so disgusted at a person as when I read "SO young and so uneducated." Clearly, you are unable to admit that you are wrong, and this argument is pointless, because you are an elitist snob who thinks you are mature because you are old. I know I'm right, seeing as I have witnessed our drum line as well as the majority of the others. You think you're right based on your age and your teaching band camp. Which, apparently, you suck at teaching. I don't much care what you think.

  • And for your information, I'm not here to entertain you. I don't much care if you're bored. I'm defending something I'm a part of.

  • check the 2001 Macys band if you want to see a good band. I wasn't in it, but the difference in skill is amazing. Look at it objectively. Get off your tower, stop being defensive and analyze how great they used to be. The drumline doesn't have the same attitude as it used to, and neither does the band. Remember, you must understand where the program came from to truly see what it can be...have a respect for those that came before you and made the band great and the pride to leave it that way.

  • I can cite tons of bands better than anything Pickerington has produced. The fact that you are trying to teach me what a good band is is a joke.

And you can't validate an opinion? What are you, stupid? So leading experts in a field have no more say than you or me? So people like Jeff Queen and Mark Ford's opinions aren't somewhat validated?

  • no you cant. Pickerington used to be in the elite. if you deny that, you are beyond reasonable. Before I was there, they were a national name. They were well known.

And you can not validate an opinion. Your opinion must be a fact to be validated. There is no way to prove an opinion unless it is fact, which most are not. " The sky is blue" is not an opinion, but a fact, even if you believe it is blue.

  • There's no such thing as a nationally known high school band.

You've turned this into some simple fact vs opinion argument. Some opinions have more value than others. If someone of some intelligence, or with some sort of knowledge about drumming, told me our line was mediocre at best, I would act differently than I have. But someone who idolizes Lancaster's line? You are a joke.

  • actually there are nationally known hs bands. Broken Arrow (OK), Ben Davis (Indiana). Both highly respected among band directors . You act like you know, but as someone actually immersed in the music world (and not some mediocre hs band), I do know. You can't name the best schools in columbus, as you never heard of Central Crossing. Funny.. i mentioned your named to a few of your bandmates and they all had the same opinion...egotistical and one even went as far as to call you a whiny bitch..sad..

  • What do you expect from me? To not take pride in what I do? To just agree that, yeah, I just wasted three quarters of a year being part of something shitty?

I don't believe that's true. We worked, and we weren't bad. We did well. You won't be able to convince me otherwise. Mr. Sewell told us the other day that ours was most likely the best drum line the school has ever had in his time there. I don't know if I believe that, but he does.

  • everyone knows the deads work really hard all the time but it's mainly the fact that they didnt really do anything compared to the band whom you barely see. thats why the band shouldve been centered on the star.

Either way the band did great and I'm thankful for that awesome experience.

  • They did sound good!!!!

  • Wish I could have seen more of the band. Why put your percussion on the logo for the entire show?

  • not sure why. quite a few people were dissapointed that the whole band wasn't shown more but it was a great experience none the less.

  • You center the drum line in a band because of the sound delay between the front and back. Just so happens that's where the cameras were focused, at the center.
