there is a beautiful Brazilian version of the song "juju man" Passport ... with the group "Hot Stuff Band" ... I'll try to post the music ... Toro is the best... "Lá borinquen..." hehehe...
i found 'the point' in a charity shop recently with nuff other bits (love, bo hannson, extrapolitions by john mclaughlin) all mint for 50p each, jjjjeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaahh
anhyone know where black sheep got the break with the "uh c'mon" cuz i heared a DJ beat juggling it once on a mix show and ive been trying to find it for some time now
The Thad Jones joint is very funky for 1979 Indeed.
Funny little story: I have the "Best of Kool and the Gang" which contains "Soul Vibrations", but it went with the shiny golden sleeve of an earlier "best of", from the first period ("give it up", etc). Anyway, it was a ONE Euro find! I hope someday I will find the right LP.
ebay is ok to get a general idea of what some things are worth but if you got 2 dudes goin at it over a record you can't really tell its true worth, just what some crazy MF is will to spend on it. Just reseach titles through a publication, like Record Collector, or just hit the net and research, not auctions thought. Or go to your local record shop or if your town has monthly record shows, some of the dealers could help you. But I'd say a publication is your best bet, overall.
Nice Video Broolkeez....Those Iron Butterfly LP's are real nice, got em' both...Their version of "Get out my life, Women" was used by Atmosphere(Slug)..Good tunes...I have that Kool and the Gang's "Greatest Hits" all are samples excxept a few songs...good find.. and the "Duji" 45....Man that Toro's HOT!!...Thanx...
It's not all that except for that song, "Honky Puck". But the LP is pretty hard to find, even represses are hard to get. It got repressed in 85 only. I got mine from a private collector. That's the 2nd copy I've had of it. If I find another I'll let you know.
Lol!!! That last comment I posted wasn't directed @ you. I'm sure you have multiple copies of that 1. Goodwill should sponsor you for real. Any luck finding that Shirley Scott record I mentioned? Anyway, I was trying to school the newbies. It's up to people like us to teach them.
Yeah. everyone thinks Black Sheep used the opening guitar melody 4 Similac Child off the Tom Scott record. They didn't. I'm not telling tho Kool Breez might post it on Vol.10. Lol. O.N.U. Find the British import for the Kool and The Gang Greatest hits. It has 3 additional tracks that was not on the American release.
Right at :13, was the Tom Scott joint used by Pete Rock? Wow isn't that ironic? This is my 1st viewing of this & you play the record I was asking about! Kool!<<< At 1:45, is a popular break. Yeah at 3:24, used on a Gang Starr joint & another cut from someone else! That Thad Jones is hott! Scenario remix at 6:00! Those K& the G's are nice! Yep, the Black Sheep joint "The Choice Is Yours" at 8:21! That would be very easy to miss! Finding that right break to make a beat could make you famous! Nice!

I was tempted to get the point LP, but the only good track it sounds like is the arrow song, which was sampled for a Blackalicious song.

Yup, the Tom Scott song is called "Today", it's a cover of a Jefferson Airplane song.
