This was a beautiful episode. Not only is the acting superb but the marvellous

filmwork should be rewarded highly. The camera seems to turn each scene into

a painting, and lets me feel as if I step backwards in time. Thank you xlarkrise for

all the work you did posting this series.

I like at the end of this ep how sensitive JD was. He realized from looking at Dorcas's face that she was going through something difficult & thus he decided he didn't need to focus on his plans for the clock. I think that's a wonderful characteristic for him to have-he put her needs above his own. Despite her saying she wanted to hear his plans he saw through this & chose to spend their time talking of less pressing things. Way to go JD!

ALL of the acting has been fantastic in this series. This episode is definitely no exception!!

A particular mention [among the MANY I could make] is that Miss Ellison, Ruby, and Dorcas gave tremendously fine, sensitive portrayals of women who are in anguish under the surface of their everyday lives.

Episode one is the Christmas special, Mr. Arliss took Mrs. Arliss and they went to some seaport to work, supposedly they are going to come back for the kids someday.
