Also: despite the misgivings concerning the 87 Crown-Ikarus articulated buses TriMet had received in 1981-82, they did go beyond the usual 12-year FTA limit, the last ones being withdrawn from all service in the spring of 1999.
It really sucks when PAT retires their bus models just after 12 years. D-dot of Detroit had already retired all of the 1986's GM Classics and 1989's MCI Classics since either late 2003 or early 2004. They also retired the 1992's and the 1993's New Flyer D40HF buses in August of 2005.
I was wondering about that because in Pittsburgh, the Orion V's the Port Authority had were retired rather early (only 12 years) and I wondered why. This video you have here reminded me a lot of them (especially with the 6V92 and the single seats facing forward along the right side between the front and rear doors.)
I never rode a Orion V

Retired as early as 2002? Wow.. LOL! And TM Ran many of their 1971-72 Flxible Fishbowls through 1997. There were still 60 of them in service in 1997.

Nowadays, those type of transit agencies (that actually retain their buses) are far and between.

Same with Grand Rapids MI 1991 Orions retired in 2006 because of frame issue, I was unhappy.

PAT always retires their buses at 12 years to "keep things fresh"...that's their policy (which I find SOOO wasteful)!!!
