I was going to do something like this with this song. but now I don't have to. Good job. I had not thought of using a fighter jet for a falcon. I liked that.
Thanks for this. Not being pedantic but I think the album is called 'Turbulent Indigo?" One of her best albums which also contains 'Night Ride Home' another great song.
@RobinAre3 nope two separate albums "Night Ride Home" – 3:21 "Passion Play (When All The Slaves Are Free)" – 5:25 "Cherokee Louise" – 4:32 "The Windfall (Everything for Nothing)" – 5:15 "Slouching Towards Bethlehem" – 6:54 (based on a poem - The Second Coming - by W.B. People are so eager to demonize America and blame her that they forget, neglect to return to and strengthen the good things that remain, such as a strong constitution, moral principles, and a godly heritage. If America and her leaders have drifted away from these things, we are all to blame. We must all repent. The beast is not GW, but fallen man, rejecting God. Turn that pointing finger back to our own hearts. God have mercy on us all.
@PeterOzanne Not entirely contrary, but partisan in a way I think Yeats would have despised. Look, I think that George W. and all his cabinet and administration were symptomatic of what the poem expressed..but so have been so many others in the past, like the 9/11 atrocity, the killing fields in Cambodia, the Chinese Cultural Revolution, Stalin, Hitler, World War I..all of it going back to when Yeats wrote this. Get real. It isn't just the U.S. that is going to hell, it's the world.
@Bernie150 -- Do you know how stupid a partial quote makes you look? George W. Bush was a master of that kind of idiocy...and so are you. Of course GW was a devil. But he isn't the only devil, and many of them are occupied by your own narrow little mind.
Her entire Night Ride Home CD is absolutely amazing! MY faves are "Two Grey Rooms" and "The Windfall (Everything for Nothing)". Press play all the way through.
some lyrics are wrong....

@RobinAre3 You better google that. Night ride home is from the Night ride home album. Don't worry, you are in no danger of being pedantic.

It was interesting to hear that George Bush said Sarah Palin would not make a good president. I guess he would know. (aw c'mon..it's funny!)

Great song.
Pretty stupid video.
ArkadyRenkovich 1 year ago
@ArkadyRenkovich Do you think the vid is contrary to Yeats' original meaning?
I don't: Yeat's was writing of his despair about war and brutality, and his disillusionment with those who are supposed to be our "good" leaders.
And our lack of respect for fellow humans. This video just touches on some of the recent manifestations of that.

@ArkadyRenkovich
First you say that the video is "pretty stupid." Then to defend this comment you say:
"I think that George W. and all his cabinet and administration were symptomatic of what the poem expressed.."
Do you realize how stupid that make you look?

My favorite song from this album, but I do love the whole thing! :)

This is such a meaningful and lovely song by Joni based on Yeats' poem. I loved the political insert about the worst.
