This score is one of my all-time favorites! Notable others are, 'Dave', 'Stanley & Iris', 'Field of Dreams' and my #1 most romantic score of all time is - 'Somewhere In Time' composed by the late John Barry. Simply breathtaking! Always enjoyed the works of Marc Shaiman, James Horner, John Barry, James Newton Howard, John Williams, Randy Newman et al. Such great talent!

@laceyScuppiecake The Name of this song is "The American President" or "A Seed of Grain" (in it's choral form) and is written by composer Marc Shaiman... It is NOT the marine core hymn or any other pre-existing american anthem as other posters have suggested. It is entirely original by a fantastic composer.
@thingthingisalive THIS is NOT the marine core hymn... The Name of this song is "The American President" (when originally written for this film) or "A Seed of Grain" (in it's choral form as adapted by the composer for The Bucket List)... It is written by composer Marc Shaiman...
great music, great movie, great acting by michael douglas, annette bening and martin sheen... but specially great acting by MICHAEL J. FOX!! he played Lewis very well.. but he played health man for years!! so he played two roles in one moment.. and i think that is amazing!!! sorry for my english
Thanks for post it. Is only a movie but i hope will be a Hope to everyone to have a President like that man. My english don t allow to write better. Sorry
Bradley Whitford & Amanda Peet in "The Network President"! LOL! j/k
Brad & Amanda co-starred in Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" as Daniel "Danny" Tripp(Executive Producer) and his love interest/boss Jordan McDeere(President; NBS).
There was a West Wing Episode called "The Stormy Present" where Bartlett attended the funeral for a former president. Another former democratic president, played by James Cromwell, accompanied him to the funeral on Air Force One. I always thought that it would have been cool if Michael Douglas could have reprised his role as Matt Shepard, his character from this movie in addition to Cromwell's character. It would have been the perfect tie in.
@airdriver that would have been cool but it wouldn't have fit in the West Wing universe because Martin Sheen played Sheppards chief of staff--which would have been awkward -- that aside, however, that would have been pretty awesome
I somehow think that this score it written by Thomas Newman everytime I listen to it. but its not. but the orchestration is very Newman-esque (sounds like Shawshank here and there) - anyway good work by Shaiman!
if anyone was watching I think ABC when Reagan died, they played this theme as the plane took off for California with his casket, it was the most beautiful thing in the world
you guys wanna talk under-appreciated movie temes? check out some of john carpenters themes, he wrote and performed the music for many of his films. the theme for "escape from new york" is awesome, there is another, unbelievably awesome song called "julie" that he did for "precinct 13".
(basil poledouris score for "conan the barbarian" is also amazing)
One of the most beautiful movie themes-period. Many people overlook it because Mr. Williams or Hans Zimmer didn't write it... they don't know what they are missing...
I fully concur with you sir I love this most powerful of themes songs it`s my favorite and it gives me a sense of well being and strengthens my good emotions.
