horses are animals in their own right and they have their own mind too? having been riding for many years, i believe horses like humans have off days and accidents can happen even with the mildest horse or pony. all horses have fears like humans and just because its not come out in them and they seem the safest there' s always something that might trigger off an incident

in 2008, my horse did fall over me in bad accident ( he did start jumping to early) i had the 2 legs broken :( and that all because of me! (i didn't count the step before the jump) it was the last time i has jumping a bounce of 4ft!
this is not horse abuse. this is wat horses LOV to do and what some horses are ment to do. if those horses r kept in a stall all day and night they will live a boaring and horrific life. when u keep them in a stall then that is horse abuse. those happen because the horse misses the jump or the rider gives the signal to jump to early or late. I can agree on this. My horse is a gorgeous Gray and has some kind of black blanket by his shoulder. He was spurred to death by his "trainer" before I bought him.... if you even use a little bit of leg... see you in China in a few hours.... :)
the first picture is kinda scary how his helmet smushes in... though i love all horses and i agree with you! it is hard work! but i cry wen i even have to hit their butts with a crop to pick up a canter..... im all about squeezing and small kicks... but i neverwant to ride a horse, even if it loves to, and jump cross country.. i only jump jumps that fall down if i hit it....
Horse back riding is an amazing sport. But it does have its ups and downs. Every one prefers there own style of riding whether it be English,or western. I personally do not like English,There for i ride western and do barrels and pole bending. But i have to say Dressage is an incredible sport.

This is not horse riding........this is abuse. Horses are large animals, but their legs are very fragile and can break down easily. Horses legs weren't made or have a build to do this. Us humans don't give to shits and we'll keep on doing it because it's fun for us (I stress fun for us). The horses don't want to do this shit......they know this is scary to them. Typical Horseback riding is not dangerous with a well taken care of horse. This type of "riding" is dangerous and abusive.

@Punchym30 My horse actually loves to jump. Whenever i ride her without jumping her you can tell she is bored. When she knows we are about to jump she becomes eager and excited. When we only jump small jumps she is bored. Accidents happen. Basketball players fall down, football players get concussions, soccer players tear their acl's. It happens, the people that do these types of riding go to great lengths to insure the health of their horses so its not abuse.

@Cassinum6 haha same with my mare, the little jumps she likes to make games out of, but once we get to about 3'6" and up she takes it seriously and enjoys it. The highest I've ever jumped her is 4'9" and she loved it!
I know how it feels to lay down underneath a horse... It's happen to me, once... I broke both of my legs.... Lucky for me... But my horse DIES because of that. He broke his neck, I broke my legs... I am hoping, still, that it broke MY neck, and HIS legs. I miss my best friend.

its not the horses fault its the riders fault when he loses his balance and falls off.because when the horse stops it doesnt get the speed or he can spook at something

the good thing about water jumps is that when they fall it won't hurt either of them too bad, we all ride knowing that there is a 50/50 chance of us falling off, why we do it is because pain is no match to your dreams.this is bad but aleast they tryed.

@liekessjors I always worry about the horses too. But they are not forced, these horses love to jump and that's what they are bred for. Same with jockey horses. The owner knows the risks for him & his horse and the horse knows that too.

A year ago my 27 yr old grey pony (13.3 HH) took off on me I fell smack on the ground, slid in the mud 4 bout a meter and wacked straight into the chook pen! No broken bones but one hell of a bruse! I was so bloody scared 2 get on again! But I started 2 do natural horsemanship. And I don't want 2 sound stuck up or rude but it really is the propper way 2 ride. Hey now I'll jump on a wild horse, do some horsemanship and gallop faster than the wind!!!

@Punchym30 I hate to be rude, but apparently you know nothing about horses, this is coming from a barrel who knows about horses, they are built to ride that's why we have been riding them since god knows when. This is one of the reasons God gave us horses, if you have nothing nice to say, why comment? and riding IS NOT abuse to horses but yes accidents do happen weather the rider messes up or the horse gets spooked etc truly im not trying to be mean, it's the truth though

This is not horse riding........this is abuse. Horses are large animals, but their legs are very fragile and can break down easily. Horses legs weren't made or have a build to do this. Us humans don't give to shits and we'll keep on doing it because it's fun for us (I stress fun for us). The horses don't want to do this shit......they know this is scary to them. Typical Horseback riding is not dangerous with a well taken care of horse. This type of "riding" is dangerous and abusive.

@xoXPunkPrincesssXox You think we can't force a 2000 pound animal to do something? You're wrong. Horses didn't walk up to us saying "hey jump on my back!" we made them accept it. Just like we make them accept the bit, saddle, girth, etc. We MAKE them jump and do dressage.

Now it is abuse if people drive their horses to do this with abuse. That is abusive, but make sure you research about this stuff before you call it 'abusive' it is merely a famous game and people have accidents, us riders risk it for YOU people and for our enjoyment. We have safty first .

@Punchym30 My horse actually loves to jump. Whenever i ride her without jumping her you can tell she is bored. When she knows we are about to jump she becomes eager and excited. When we only jump small jumps she is bored. Accidents happen. Basketball players fall down, football players get concussions, soccer players tear their acl's. It happens, the people that do these types of riding go to great lengths to insure the health of their horses so its not abuse.

@Cassinum6 haha same with my mare, the little jumps she likes to make games out of, but once we get to about 3'6" and up she takes it seriously and enjoys it. The highest I've ever jumped her is 4'9" and she loved it!

I know how it feels to lay down underneath a horse... It's happen to me, once... I broke both of my legs.... Lucky for me... But my horse DIES because of that. He broke his neck, I broke my legs... I am hoping, still, that it broke MY neck, and HIS legs. I miss my best friend.

Not to pick, but this is the fourth or fifth vid that I have seen that has said this. Equestrian is the rider....Equitation is the sport of riding. Yes, you say that you are an Equestrian. But you say that Equitation is a sport. Saying Equestrian is a sport is like saying Shaq is a sport.....doesn't work.

the good thing about water jumps is that when they fall it won't hurt either of them too bad, we all ride knowing that there is a 50/50 chance of us falling off, why we do it is because pain is no match to your dreams.this is bad but aleast they tryed.

I like the vid it shows everyone how hard the rider works with the horse and horse with rider it is a partnership even in a bad fall sometimes you get up some times you don't its life in general just how the out come is humans are still animals to we are equal horse + human so dont start with we treat horses bad we always let them have extra food or give them a cuddle haha i look after 4 hunters and their all my baby boys even the 17.2 so dont just judge it by a photo thumbs up punk princess

@kazzely half of these pictures arent even from the olympics... some are from local barns around my area... PLUS there are not photographers JUST for the olympics as a photographer myself getting my masters soon and my uncle being a photographer for sport teams like the colts giants etc... i have a lot of connections and if you wanna talk photographers hell im sure i know a whole lot more than you considering im studying photography as well as photographers...

@xoXPunkPrincesssXox HENS how i got the pictures... if you haven't noticed half the time picture say "not for public use" you can't even copy and paste them... there was not need to pay extra just to get the stamp removed you can see the picture fine it's not blocking out anything so it was pointless... if it wasn't for public use how else could i have gotten them :s i needed some of the pictures for a media study assignment last year so i didn't even search for these i was given a website

You don't contact the photographer to can contact the company and IF they weren't for public use whats the point of taking the pictures in the first place? seems pretty dumb now doesn't it... well ANYWAYS i've proved my point if you care so much don't watch or worry about other peoples business. goodbye.

@liekessjors I always worry about the horses too. But they are not forced, these horses love to jump and that's what they are bred for. Same with jockey horses. The owner knows the risks for him & his horse and the horse knows that too.

@liekessjors If they didn't want to they wouldn't...They weigh 1000 pounds or more. It's not like you can just lift it over the jumps. And horses are actually not injured that frequently. They're very hardy animals.

A year ago my 27 yr old grey pony (13.3 HH) took off on me I fell smack on the ground, slid in the mud 4 bout a meter and wacked straight into the chook pen! No broken bones but one hell of a bruse! I was so bloody scared 2 get on again! But I started 2 do natural horsemanship. And I don't want 2 sound stuck up or rude but it really is the propper way 2 ride. Hey now I'll jump on a wild horse, do some horsemanship and gallop faster than the wind!!!
