  • Those people who are rude to others on chat sites, forums, when playing MMOs etc, or those who are trolling others... do they do that "in real life" too?

  • Come on guys, everybody needs someone to spoon at night.

  • Seems like this is put together by someone who just started using the internet or computers recently...

  • Long ago my driving instructor told me we are all insane. We yell at other people while we know very well that they can't possibly hear us. All the while fuming and talking to ourselves. The Internet is very much like that, but worst =D

  • Excuse me...Internet...I have something to show you.

  • Infact I do think about it. And I try my best to never forget.

  • "who has 3 best friends, but nobody to spoon at night"

  • Keyboard Warrior

  • This is so true, and I try my best to be respectful online, and to never say online what I wouldn't say personally.

And to you trolls treating this as a joke, please leave.

  • Perfect guide for youtube...

  • Looks like somebody got trolled!

  • hakunnah mattatah

  • i came from 9GAG xD

  • I laughed a lot

  • well ... you certainly aren't gonna stop trolling because of this video.

  • I want to kick Valerie in the face.

  • I'd say that people need to understand that what is said about one self on the internet isn't of much importance.

  • So... what you're asking... is that... trolling is no more?

  • @jackdaknife

of course not! troll trolls and scumbags. ;)

  • Nice! Poor Sara!

  • short comment

  • might apply here) and yet still be aware, as often as possible, of the affects of our choices and the environments we find ourselves in.. A sensitivity that transcends and yet includes emotional response.

  • @LuvyDude.. .. developing a thick skin, in essence, was counter adaptive for archaic humans. War-focused tribes and people groups were more likely to overwhelm and destroy peaceful peoples, thereby creating a sort of survival of the fittest where war-minded cultures survived, and peaceful peoples died.

Maybe the lesson to learn here is that we must live in the balance.. Be, to some extent at least, protective of ourselves (secure your own oxygen mask before assisting others, if that analogy

  • @LuvyDude.. [and anyone else, I suppose]

I think that developing a sense of sensitivity is highly undervalued in (at least) Western Culture.. It would be a beautiful world if we could all learn to be sensitive again.. Not only to other people, but to the world that surrounds us. Can you imagine what bliss that would be? I think about it often..

Joseph Campbell makes an interesting point (somewhat counter to the idea of general sensitivity) in his book 'Myths To Live By'.. He says that develop

  • I see that a lot of your comments keep talking about how people need to have "thick skin", but if you eliminate all the abusive, destructive, and hateful discussions in the world, you wouldn't need "thick skin".

There are some people in this world that can't develop "thick skin". That means your trolling, bullying, trashing, insulting, critiquing, and overall belittlement is going to damage that person's perception and make them think negatively about the world around them... I would know...

  • @LuvyDude182 I agree completely. When people say that someone should have a "thick skin" in response to a complaint about bullying or anything else negative, it's like prescribing a treatment instead of providing the CURE. Fine having a thick skin helps, but that's from the victim's side. What about the perpetrator? They should at least be taught that their behaviour is uncalled for.

  • computers have feelings too :(

  • @mathstudies Not yet.

  • over exaggerated bs.. a dating website is a dating website... 12 years of online business and never got bad feedback? the fuck is this a comedy video?

  • @nicknames11 it can happen. and I'm sure he cut out a lot of background stuff to keep it short...for instance, the owner could be going through personal problems of her own. And RIGHT then, someone else going through THEIR own personal problems decides to lash out on a stranger without thinking what state that stranger might be in. Point is: it's not always about you. Just like you...others are experiencing life and going through bad times. Don't make ti worse for them.

  • fuck that trolling is the business

youre all a bunch of crybaby pussies =D

  • Wait what? She started crying when someone insulted her?? If everytime someone insulted me(on the net) ... the point is, answer it with clever combination of making him/her SHUT THE FUCK UP and swearing, if you can't correct their grammar, no mistakes? yea right

  • 394 people have nobody to spoon at night

  • Honestly, there will always be haters in life, rather than making a video about how to not be a hater, it would be much more useful to make a video on how to deal with them in my opinion. Besides the net feeds on this kind of stuff. It feeds the flame. You have no idea how much effort it takes to resist trolling stuff like this.

  • I don't like trolling, but I've grown a very thick skin.I've also managed to do what I'm told without asking if it makes sense to me or not.

  • What kind of a person would dislike a video like this one ?

Is human nature that much suicidal ?

  • Dear Internet,

Please make this mandatory viewing for first-time users on the internet.

    Yours,

    The internet.

  • @MultiKarmacharger Dear YouTube,

Please make this mandatory viewing for everyone with a YouTube account.

    Yours truly,

    YouTube Service

  • soo....are the two computer girls gonna kiss too?

  • The online comic strip Penny Arcade identified this hateful phenomenon seven years ago. It's not family-friendly, but you can find it by searching for "Green Blackboards (And Other Anomalies)."

  • As enlightening as it is i must say its not the truth. Treat the internet as a nest of the worst scumbags and trolls that ever walked the earth. If, even though you know that, youre still getting upset over those comments you should:

    1. Grow a thicker skin.

    2. Not give a fuck (similar to 1 but a little different).

    3. Troll back. Whats stopping you?

  • The simple fact that a video like this has to be made to make a point is sad. Kudos. (or a book written) It's so sad that people don't inherently know this. Or have the sense to figure it out. :-/

  • I never forgot it in the first place. And I feel for anyone who ever caught flack from the internetworks of the world.

  • U mad, Sarah?

  • I've been trolled in my time, can't say I've been the perfect internet citizen. But after having watched Apocalypse Now today, it reminded me that trying to discern what it was that sent a man you barely know on the other side of the world over the edge...

An internet flame war cannot easily be compared to Vietnam, but somehow I wonder if every fanboy on a forum one day meets their Col. Kurtz. And I found mine once. I don't speak to him anymore.

  • OMG NOW I UNDERSTAND! This guy, this guy is amazing. Why don't teachers show his videos in school? WHY DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM YOUTUBE THAN SCHOOL!?

  • What type of people hit dislike in this video?

  • Отличное видео, спасибо.

    Excellent video, thank you.

  • thank you, Sir.

  • blah blah blah

    such a pussies

  • @lolkiwi Oh, I'm a gamer, it is tiresome to go to gaming webblogs/sites and seeing so called "fanboys" arguing over smallest things on their rival consoles/games.

    Internet, thick skin required.

  • People should stop taking the internet seriously.

  • thanks

  • The sad thing is, this is posted in Youtube, where there's tons of so called "scum of the internet" gather.

    *sigh*

  • The Sara's client made 384 YouTube accounts and dislike this video.

  • awe, true video

  • I'm thinking that they should show videos like this in the classrooms so young people will remember what they're saying to their peers, then maybe there wouldn't have been any suicides due to mean people on the internet.

  • Oh gosh, there's NOTHING like being a decent looking female on a dating site.

  • @DZrache Really?!? That's all you have to say? Are you concieted then or just fishing for compliments, cuz that's all I really see going on on those types of websites.

  • @Lilac246

    Yes.

  • @DZrache Then you must also be one of those women that post naked pics of themselves to get compliments, which is really sad cuz that means you don't have anybody in your life that appreciates who you really are and you have to go looking for other people to make you feel good about yourself. I believe that called a self confidence issue, might want to go to a therapist for that. Either all of that or you're just a slut,

  • @Lilac246

You must be really insecure to project an entire personality onto someone from so few words. I can't be bothered to defend myself against you. Actually, go ahead. You need an emotional punching bag. It'll be like therapy.

  • @DZrache

I just call them as I see them

  • @Lilac246

    In your head

  • I"m a troll >:)

    and as a result...

I have no one to spoon at night :'(

  • "who has three best friends, but nobody to spoon at night" -gigglzes and unicorns!

  • This is sooooooo boring.

  • Wait, so that guy wanted to build an entire relationship around hiking? I'm not an incredibly emotional person but I'm pretty sure there's more to it than that.

  • Probably the best video on this subject that I've seen. And I'm a blatant troll, so that means a lot coming from me.

  • put in a tampon and suck it up fagboats

  • @icanhasastd Why start this illiterate & uncalled for name calling ?

  • Lets all share a good cry and go get some icecream...

Welcome to the internet, it isn't the nicest of places.

  • I FUCKING NEW IT, /closes okcupid account, reopens 12 hours later

  • amazing

  • I know someone who acts this way to people in real life. Very little concern for others humanity.

  • Really now. The internet has been around for 2 decades by now and people should know people are dicks on the internet. If you take everything at 100% face value that is found on the internet I honestly believe there is something very wrong with you. Really the internet is just a test of patience and self esteem and if you take an angrily written message seriously you really need to take a look at you as a person. In the words of the Joker "Why so serious?".

  • This is too deep for me.

  • or people can stop taking the internet so seriously due to this reason...

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • Being a dick is easy. There is no effort to shield your feelings or bite your tongue, you get to escape your humanity because you think that no one is going to force you to find it again.

The reason why people troll videos like this is because it forces them to remember their humanity and spoils their good time.

If you need to be reminded of your humanity, it's probably already gone.

    I pity people like that.

  • @MomoGasumi "For my turn, I pity Pierce Hawthorne."

  • @MomoGasumi I pity people who believe they are better than other people which contradicts the reason that makes them believe they are better in the first place. Your life is a contradiction. Humanity is nothing, it's a construction of society. Humans are not born with compassion, it is taught.

  • @Tammc09

    Nice try, but no.

  • @MomoGasumi LOL you have no rebuttal so you're copping out. Nice.

  • @Tammc09

no, at first I was going to engage you, then I realized that you're trolling.

That, and I don't really care enough.

    And so with that, adieu

  • @MomoGasumi No rebuttal, that's what I thought.

  • no

  • cyber bullying!

  • this is so awesome!! i wish i would be so inventieve..

  • @stjanki Dude, I've been online since the days of gopher net and BBS was king....Trust me, people have been assholes for a long time, long before internet. Even old fol-gees like mean still get the worst kind of insults from people because of the internet's vast anonymity Even online there should be some level of etiquette ya know?

  • maybe the sensitive types should adjust to us. and realize that we wouldnt say shit like that in real life. and take it with a grain of salt. ive no plans to stop trolling anytime soon. and my insults are only as personal as you take them. i try to make them funny even.

  • @MsReefmaster I like how you put the fault on the person who has to take the insults. You must be a good person.

  • @Matt97 they cant be personal insults. where do you draw the line? if a person tells me to fuck off i tell them to go and fuck themselves. if they cant because its a customer you suck it up and sabotage their product somehow. you dont let it eat you up inside. no one cares and no one should.

  • wow! this is so good. Thank you!

  • Good message, rings very true in today's modern and socially disconnected age. And then came the Spam Bots! HELLO THIS IS NAOMI I AM CALING TO TEL YOU I HAVE MONEY TO GIVE YOU ALL YOU HAV TO DO IS SEND BANK ACCOUNT # AND SOCIAL SECURTY # TO MY EMAIL I WIL SEND IT TO YOU RIGHT AWAY!!!!!

  • Love this video, and to all saying 'they just don't care' if those people were face to face, the 12 year old/dog/ranty person wouldn't be able to actually say what they said. They'd have to be incredibly angry or psychopathic to do so in that way. Especially here, people need to anonymity to push their bile. Good reminder that there are people on the end of the line.

  • @timbearcub Not true: I make death threats and tell subhumans directly to their faces and how they should be tortured and executed all the time. And, if you claim to believe in freedom, then you will defend my free speech right to say that. The first one who uses physical force - like trying to arrest me - is in the wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @timbearcub Glad to see your reply was marked Spam before even *I* got to it.

  • @stjanki You do and you don't. Certainly about random people you learn that some will just try and troll you or upset you, but unless you're putting out things you don't care about, of course you take pride in your work or creations online. Actions have consequences. I've been online longer than most - 15 years, or 18 years if you count university. It's rare but some do get under the radar still - mostly people you thought you knew.

  • Valerie would probably do that regardless of the internet

  • Ah, the refreshing voice of reason.

  • Valerie needs to stay in the kitchen.

  • I think behaving like Valerie and the other woman is often a symptom of regarding computers and everything you do on them as just that: "the computer"...instead of regarding a computer as a medium, a tool, a vehicle, a portal, which you use to reach other people and their creations.

  • very cleaver video thanks

  • Bitches be trolling.

  • Great video!!

  • It's not that people forget that there's someone on the other end, it's that they just don't CARE. They don't give a shit about anyone else and think they can get away with not even bothering to put on the illusion of not being a dick because they think the person is miles away and can never find them.

It's always fun when you can prove those people wrong.

  • @tabrismacbeth I doubt that you were ever able to prove someone wrong who lives in another country.

  • be gently with PHP codes :{

  • Seriously - very thoughtful and nice video.

  • I find this REALLY hard to masturbate to,

knowing that there is a real human being on the other end of this web connection reading this.

  • Ill try but I'm not making any promises

  • BWAHAHAHAHA....

    gotta love the trolls

  • @stjanki I must have developed armored skin plates then.

  • And you should not let anyone communicating to you by internet be able to get you down.

    True Story

  • faggots lol

  • Fake.

  • No offense but have these people actually used the internet before?

  • That cold hearted bitch turned down 10 guys without replying?

Well... Ever been to a bar trying to start a conversation with a girl like her?

It's the same, don't fool yourself. You will get turned down, and if you don't stand up after every slap you get, you will never be successful. True story. :)

  • fuck this, im not an inconsiderate asshole.

:P no but seriously, there's people that need to see this i guess.

  • did he just say three best friends with no one to spoon at night?

  • @kaienjin7 I like my orgies, leave me alone! :)

  • This doesnt make any since whats so ever

  • thumbs up if vg cats sent you here.

  • 100% of those messages on the dating site are fake. who really tells the truth on the internet :P

  • fake and gay

  • what the hell is this faggotry? sarah should just do the world a favor and shoot herself in the head.

  • There's going to be assholes on the internet. If you can't handle them, then maybe you shouldn't be going on it. It's an inevitable truth.

  • AAAHHH BOO HOO! Big deal! IT'S THE FUCKING INTERNET!!! It shields us with more layers of anonymity than anything else. Why should someone take something so emotionally distant into consideration? That woman with the business should've just ignored the letter and send a refund. And I don't believe those men would've cared much about that woman considering it's an ONLINE DATING SERVICE. The point is to try and find many people that share similarities between profiles.

  • I'm gonna apologize to the Cleverbot right now, thank you!

  • this made me smile.

  • That's deep.

  • Gay

  • People need to just man the fuck up and get some thicker skin. You have the right to be offended.

  • we should troll the trolls!

  • trolls gonna hate ... that's just what they do :(

  • im going to go turn charcoal black in my bed now.

  • I like how the first example was just : 'Haters gonna hate'

  • that was beyond stupid if u cant handle what ppl type dont go on the internet

  • Aaaand then there's the kids... oh, dear lord, the kids...

  • the trolls here on the internet long before mr & ms be-nice-to-me. it was never safe or polite. stop trying to gentrify the internet.

  • scru u brohhh

  • i think Sara needs a little thicker skin and Valerie sounds like a bitch.

  • I think this was a very nice video.

  • It's not overwhelming, it's obvious. I can't get how people can forget about it.

  • People need to be taught than something that someone tells over the internet is worth less than a shit and you shot not give a damn, I know it's hard, but it's worth it

  • BTW Derek, not saying you're gay is a bad thing, but this video is very clear that you relate more to women than men. You feel the womens pain, and you don't relate to the fact that men will say what women want to hear for dubious purposes. You think those men feel pain for not getting a response? You are either a very feminine straight man, or gay. Let the rainbow fly buddy, no shame. Some of the most interesting guys I know are gay

  • @TravisJeanSaunders Trolling is an excuse for one's own misinformed and/or uneducated opinion.

The video doesn't say anything except "Computers have people on the other side. Don't forget that."

How "emotionally sensitive" equals gay is beyond me. Many "manly" men like professional wrestlers are gay.

And what do you mean "anyone ever notice misogyny only works towards women"? Of course it only work toward women. If it were against men, it would be "misandry."

  • so what I learned out of that is that women are either bitches or they cry alot over nothing. Nothing new there. I'm sure the only men in that are fine, and were just trying to get laid. This is not misogyny, this is true. Women are catty, emotional based creatures, and men are logical (yet competitive and aggressive), boner based creatures. Thanks for teaching me nothing. BTW, anyone ever notice that misogyny only works towards women? Wonder why that is... Derek is gay or in the closet as well

  • Sara needs to take care of that cold soar 0:29

  • This is deep. That first story, I've been there. I've taken things personally and too seriously and in the end it was not all that serious.

  • Awsome video! That´s just so true

  • @puddy713

    Ayy...truth hurts?

  • Faved. :D

  • @puddy713 works for me lol

  • Brilliant insightful video, so true...very well done :) But it wont stop the trolls that creep up replying back to comments..unfortinately :(

  • Valerie is a bitch

  • @Shalalalalalam But I can tell you, in that case practically every girl on dating sites are bitches then =/

  • I seem to have trouble understanding these people. "I can be a complete asshole because no one knows who I am!" What does that say about the kind of person who thinks like this? Take away visual, sound, and touch, they are left with only the person they want to be, it's true you can fake things, but who do you want to be? You want to be an anonymous asshole? I guess you can be but it says alot about who you really are, what you will say to people when you cannot be named.

  • @aegisgfx You can argue with religious people but you have to do it well. Using well spoken logic and calling them out on logical fallacies should get you quite far, but you need to appeal to them emotionally as well.

And you need a clear motive too. Shooting down peoples religion for no reason just makes you a dick.

  • osama bin laden had no one to spoon at night

  • great video ! but man, ure friends are lame ^^
