We call that a cut kick, it's meant to pressure your opponent into moving back or to the side, and if they don't move then they eat the kick to the face. Leg sweeps are pointless (and illegal) in tae kwon do competitions because there is no fighting allowed on the ground.
it was a really good kick, but not the best. any good fighter would of seen that comin and steped off and countered or blocked it and blitzed you. not takin away from the fact it was a good technique and performed really well
you left your foot there the other person was stupid not to block. it is certainly not the best ever it totally telegraphed and its a round house not side kick...

I don't know... Looked to me that he threw the round house, then circled his foot to the inside of the arm and scooted forward into a strait side kick. I think it was more finesse than you give it credit.
