  • Appreciate you watching and commenting! The tubing was tight enough and pressed in far enough to stay in. I do have to be aware that it's only press fitted and be careful not to pull on the tubing. I have tried to fit the tubing to the outside of the needle, but it just does'nt want the stretch around the threads. You are so right about the Vado HD - and you paid 15 dollars less than my "great deal". I found as long as I'm not using the digital zoom, most shots are very good for what it is.

  • at 13:19 how did you get that silicon tubing "Inside" the football needle and attach it or keep it from disconnecting to the football needle? By the way love the little tripod and creative "Vado" HD camera I own one myself and you cant beat the 60 dollar little pocket video camera.

  • In your videos, I find myself coveting your gloves. I have a hard time wanting to wear gloves, no matter how cold my hands are, because of how they fit. Your gloves seem like a second skin. where did you find them?

  • @MultiCamileon Thanks for commenting! You would be amazed how warm they really are. I wear them a lot - and they are helpful while using trekking poles. The gloves are by Manzella, from REI - and they are actually glove liners. The grip "dots" help as a "second skin" too.

  • So beautiful, I could almost smell the crisp mountain air and the scent of the trees.

  • @DrunknShooter It was definately in the air, ah you've been there - good for you.

  • I love cooking in the rain. Great video! Nothing like hot food on a cold day.

  • @MsSpy You got that right - that's always the fun part of a rain hike - thanks for commenting!

  • Great video. That soup looked sooo good ! Thanks for bringing us along on this hike. Peace

  • @Cragdwella You are welcome anytime my friend - thanks Craig!

  • @wawhiker thanks gonna have to try and find one in Canada

  • cool stuff. despite the rain, looked like two great hikes.

  • @gcstorm1 It's always a 50/50 chance for that wet stuff around here - and a 100% I'll carry the poncho tarp. Thanks for joining me!

  • Really good video brother. Loved that music and pictures. Rain or shine it don't matter huh. Good to see someone is out in the woods.

  • @dmacken11 You notice my UltraPod there Dave - LOL! So when is Buster going to get you out for a hike?

  • Nothing better than seeing good things twice :) Excellent Bill....

  • @bushcraftbartons You're "two" kind - thanks Mike!

  • @wawhiker :)

  • I love the pitter patter of rain on that tarp. I almost fell asleep watching this vid. LOL

Need to get me one of them poncho tarps :)

  • @ez2curanut LOL! I know exactly what you're saying - that exciting to you eh - LOL!

  • Glad you are still heading out in the rain! The second stove looks like it burns very hot. How is Cooper doing? I guess he is not ready for the wilderness yet. The snow is on the way Big B!

  • @phr1sk37 Yup - decided rain or shine I'm doing this whenever I have the time. Cooper is in a little growth spurt. He is going in for another series of vaccines later this week. We'll ask the Vet if he can leave his own backyard this weekend. They are saying snow in the mountains this weekend - won't be much longer until the pulk sled comes out of the gear closet... Thanks A!

  • @wawhiker Yes, Cooper needs to be protected. I started taking Chloe out when she was 14 weeks old to socialize and to the local hike trials when she was 6 or 8 months. Snow is showing on our local mountains just 30 to 45 minutes north of us. Awesome! I am dying to see some pulk sled action too =)

  • Cool Vid.

  • @allenh60 Appreciate you watching, thanks!

  • Excellent!! Great vid!

  • @Edzherenow99 Thank you for coming along!

  • what was that 2nd stove?

  • @gracejunkieca it's a crusader cook set (BCB). Wawhiker did an awesome mod on it!

  • @Edzherenow99 Yes, and thanks!

  • @gracejunkieca Thanks for watching!

  • man, that looked good!

  • @PHARRAOH it really was. It's always good when it's shared with friends, my friend.

  • Thanks Bill for the kind words really needed a pick me up. Glad you liked the soup.

  • @medicjimr Many thanks to you Jim! It really was worth the wait. I still have another portion of your Not So Stuffed to enjoy out there...

  • @wawhiker Now did I send you lasagna too ? If you don't eat it that's fine everyone has different likes just can't remember

  • Soup looks good!

  • @redwoodfox It really was - had not had venison in years.

  • Great looking Picnica Basket

  • @Tater78HD I like it - thanks!

  • Great video. Cool stoves. Nice tease with the backpack shot. Lol. You need to get over to the East side so that you can camp in dry places. Thanks for sharing and take care. Scot and Nikki.

  • @handyscot1 Haha - you noticed! You and Nikki have indeed given us a few great options around the Inland Empire - thank you!

  • Very good and very beautiful, ...you and Rich are the Stove-Masters ; )) All the best, Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk Thanks Sepp, much appreciated!

  • Great video. Very nice and simple set up and the chow looked like it did the trick.

  • @Grubkat Definately - good chow makes all the difference in a good hike. Thanks for the comment!

  • what a difference 7 days makes eh ;) I really like the poncho tarp set up you have, I have to check to see if you did a video on it.. That PAWoodsman is a true gentleman, he has a great channel. What is the top you used with your squishy bowl? Thanks for taking us along

  • @dragonflyhiker Had to reply to your's, Mr. Georgia Heat, before heading off to bed for the night. I can't wait for your next stove video - that's awesome! The rain around here makes my poncho tarp a must carry, it's been featured in the past when caught out in it. Yes you are right on about Jim and his fine channel. I found a lid that fit from a microwaveable meal container. Going to try and research / remember where I got it from. I'll let you know... Thanks Mr. Georgia Heat!

  • Does the canteen stove come with the little fuel pan in the bottom? I can't recall and don't have one. Then just drill a hole for the basket ball needle and add a wick... very nice. Thanks for making me yet again unsatisfied with my current stove. My wife loves when I disappear for hours into the mad scientist stove shop!

  • @briargoatkilla You are correct on all points. That pan is a great design feature. Good to know I'm not alone in our stove quest - LOL - mine too - she never bats an eye when she sees a stove and a pot of water cooling off in the garage. Great comments, thanks!

  • ... noodles? Yes, great idea, I'll make myself some right now - thanks for the "natural" inspiration! :o)

  • @steintanz I've got to remember to include you Tim during my meals - I keep forgetting your always ready with your spork.

  • @wawhiker ... very kind of you! :o)

  • Another great vid bro! That soup looked great! Loved the shot of the Ultra pod in action to ! lol... I need to get one of those stoves from the bushman they look great! Thanks for sharing buddy I enjoyed every second!

  • @TomsBackwoods Thanks Tom! Jim really does a great job cooking, and then hydrating his meals. Haha - seems like the Stick Pic gets all the "screen time" over the Ultra Pod. Yup - the Big Breeze 2.0 is an Ultra stove. I feel very fortunate to have such a great keep sake from our Bush-man-buddy.

  • Wow that did look great.

  • @shippen2010 Thanks for watching!

  • That soup made me hungry! Awesome video. Are those Guyout Squishy bowls in the 2nd part @12:28 Do they come with a lid?

  • @knivesRsharp Appreciate your comment. Yes - I enjoy my Guyout Squishy bowls. I found a lid that fit from a microwaveable meal container. Going to try and research / remember where I got it from. I'll let you know...

  • What is the second stove and where can i get one or the plans to make it?

  • @koolbrakai It's BCB Crusader Cooker (British). Purchased mine here in the States at bestglide on line - they feature survival gear. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks for watching and asking!

  • ball needle...damn thumbs!

  • @ridebks Can you believe it? You've done this too?

  • Excellent!!! Great stoves, music, & scenery! A bl neee can come in handy every now & then. Great vid!

  • @ridebks Thanks! Yup - it makes a great cozy. It works on the Mountain House meals too.

  • How much fuel does that stove take and how long does it run?

  • @Foxr6 I keep it at 1 ounce for about 12 minutes of burn time. Appreciate you asking.

  • The last time I used a fire steel to light my "GO-TO-STOVE" from ZELPH instead of my normal easy way using a lighter , the stove went flying all over the place , with the meths going ALL OVER MY ARM !!!and for the rest of the hike I smelled like meths , not nice at all . I thought how hard can it be to light a stove with a fire steel .

Well if you are me , I AM A FIRE HAZARD TO MYSELF !!!

But you have to perservear and try out your fire starting kit , as you never know when you will need it .

  • @Figure14HH Did you see me hit my stove - I knew better too - I told myself afterwards, pull the rod away from the stove and hold the steel. You are right on brother! Like you, I "hazarded" myself. Thanks for the heads up, and watching.

  • Looks like a lot of fun. Keep doin what you're doin. Hope once I finish college I can get out more.

  • @kakasibatosi Thanks for the nice comment. And, good for you - a college education will help continue to fund some awesome backpacking gear and the trips in your bright future.

  • Great tunes for a great video! There sure is something therapeutic about the pitter patter sound of rain hitting a tarp! Thanks for taking us with you! :)

  • @BCkayakcamper Yes - some great sounds from my buddy Michael and from the tarp. There was an overnighter last year when the pitter patter got way too intense - so much so that I thought if this stuff comes through onto my down bag I'm sunk. Whoops, sorry - I shouldn't say sunk to a kayaker - LOL!

  • PaWoodmens=good people, kind of those rainy days, kind of ;)

  • @beast12101 You got that right - Jim is one of the best. (Thanks to you and your great review vids - Cooper and I have some Ruff Wear to show off here shortly - awesome stuff)!

  • CCCOOLLL Thanks

  • @1616855 Thank You!

  • man that tarp gets good use in your neck of the woods buddy :o) Oooh that meal looks real good on a cold rainy day. Would like to see big Jim do more cookin' ! What's the pot you have there? Love the nature pics man. Washington has some great beauty :o) You are a lucky man! The music was so soothing! Is that a hot chocolate lid for the squishy bowl? Always a pleasure my friend :o) "LIKE" I thankya for the mention!

  • @Ggreenvideos Yup - I never leave home without my poncho tarp. Jim's soup got me all inspired to do some dehydrated meals myself when I get the time. His soup was worth the wait. When are you going to use your's? Dehyrated Grizz stew buddy! I've got to find where that squishy lid came from. Glad to know you liked the music. That BB 2.0 sure put on another good show : ) Thanks again bush buddy!

  • @wawhiker You're welcome buddy :o) Many missed out on the B.B 2.0 eh! That makes it more special that way :o)))) I have made beef jerky and Tatonka jerky in the dehydrator. We filmed it once but weren't happy with the result...hehe! Really haven't been all gung ho to do a meal in it yet. I'm not sure you or I would want Grizz stew...hehe! But I could handle having all the rugs. Many many rugs...haha ;o) Oh I still have a meal of Jims. But I'm thinking it's way too old now!...no?
