Fats was a joke in competition, because he dident care for trophies. But make no mistake about it, Fatty was a feared money player and when he was younger in dead stroke, he could and would play anyone in one pocket.
@plmijngcrdwaquyijo (part 1) Little fucks like you piss me off. You dont know shit. I went to college near Dowell, IL where Rudy Wanderone lived in the 60s. I watched Irving Crane play an action straight pool game at the Johnston City Tournament at Janscos Show Bar in 1968 early in the evening in the pit before a tournament match featuring Ronnie Allen. I believe Ronnie Allens opponent for that match was Luther Lassiter.
O god forbid I pisses you off...i'm gonna lose alot of sleep over that...NOT HAHAHA!! And how about we jumps on a pool table i'll show you who knows shit...i'll be playin and U'LL be fuckin WATCHIN!!! And NO ONE GIVES A FUCK as to your "guess" why fats is in the BCA hall of fame...point is he's there and you ain't.....I think i've made my point.....AGAIN!!!!
@plmijnygcrdzwaquyijo Fat's talent lay not in the game itself but rather in his use of psychology, he turned pool into poker and it worked in his favor more often than not.
Umm... I see what HS is saying, but to be honest, I don't think his finger actually touched the cue ball while wet. I think he just touched the hair, and that's it.... But either way, you're right about Tabb.
Crane asks the referee to remove a brush hair from the cue ball so the ref licks his finger and leaves spit on the cue ball. Michaela Tabb would never do that.
HEY FUCKFACE in case ya didnt know Rudolf Wanderone is a member of the Billiard Congress Hall of Fame!!!! Something you could only FUCKIN WISH to be in......WHAT THE FUCK you think that the BCA inducts every tom, dick, and harry into the Billiard Hall of Fame?? Ya better think again......
@plmijnygcrdzwaquyijo (part 4) One of them said of Rudy that in their day there were at least 20 dudes in the USA that would swim a river of shit to play Rudolf Wanderone for money. He was a loud mouth self promoter that the sheep television viewers liked and believed. Listen to his voice. Rudy said often in interviews that he was a W.C. Fields fan. Listen to his voice in this vid. He tries to sound like Fields. He was a loud mouth phony.
@plmijnygcrdzwaquyijo (part 3) My guess is Rudy got in the BCA Hall of Fame because he was an effective promoter of the game of pool on the relatively new communication medium called television that is now dieing. Ive read a number of interviews recently on the net with Ronnie Allen, Danny Deliberto, Grady Mathews and others.
@plmijnygcrdzwaquyijo (part 2) Rudy mcd. I was 22 and all of those guys were middle aged men at that time. That was way before you were fucking born. I had the sense that they all thought Rudy was a shit. Rudy never won a major tournament in his life and Mosconi fucked him up routinely in exhibition matches in the 70s and 80s.
@theglovster I just saw the video.. It gives the impression that he found a stick and thought it would be a great idea to play pool.. Irving is far better than fats.. I cannot believe that the score is 3-3.
Fat's was NOT a great pool player. He had a certain level of skill, granted, but he was never on the level of the upper echelon players of his days. I love Fats for his role in pool, but he was a backroom hustler, plain and simple. Irving Crane was a true master of the game and would have wiped the table with Minnesota back in the day. (Honestly, do you think Fats actually tried to cross corner the bank off of the side pocket nipple? One of the luckiest shots I've seen in competition!)
Actually i think he personally did, cause i've seen people in the pool hall i live in attempt shots like that, and in all reality alot of the time there EASIER than regular banks. Because theres a simple dead on math to that bank, not much else the ball can do.
at 8:40 the camera captures a mysterious flying rod or a bug.
Does look like a rod though, could be the bad visual quality making a bug look like a rod.

@9LC Nevermind, I see it's a bug it keeps coming back.

amazing match..both gentlemen played great. Irving Crane played a better game though.

I believe that shot Fats made at 0:14 was a fluke but I don't think he was trying to cover it up as a shot he went for as was suggested by his joke.

fats was the best pool player on earth
bassmaster3487 10 months ago
@bassmaster3487 no, Mosconi was the best pool player on earth. Willie Mosconi pretty much defined pool as it played today.

Irving Crane is my idol. 100% class.

@patvanela1 Finally someone with sense lol If you notice none of these guys are playing REALLY good.
honestly I think Fats played One Pocket and Banks better then any of those guys

Fats never won a professional tourney. The most overrated pool player ever.
