Dr.Cosby has earn that right to say what he thinks, and its because ....unlike other, who have been for the most part against his position, one thing and one cruicial thing only in my judgement seperates Dr cosby from the others, and that is; Dr Cosby has put his hard earned millions toward black universities. thats puttin your money where your mouth is .........now that my friend, is a fact anything else is just playful pretending to take a stand......put a check on it.
If u don't deprogram a slave how can u send him into society and think he will be productive...that's like sending an animal raised in the zoo into the wild to live...how long do u think that situation will that last?
Bill Cosby is guided by white supremecy and he attacks black ppl with this white supremist thought...what black community does he invest in...none...I thought so...he is just another boule nigger who thinks cos where he's at in his life he can talk down to black ppl who don't have it like him...this clown been left the projects he has no connection with these ppl anymore so that's why he approaches them the way he does
Some of this back and forth is ridiculous. You can go in any barbershop in Black America and hear the same things that Dr. Cosby states. It's a frustration of watching so many black men and women pour their lives down the drain making mindless decisions. Dr. Cosby made the mistake of pointing out the causes of a lot of our issues in a non politically correct way so of course it may offended some. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Why does everyone think that the Conservative party is holding back our culture? Its obvious to me that the Liberal mindset and the creation of social programs and the welfare state is what has held us back. We fell for the handout for nothing trick and these are the results.
Mr. Watkins...this is what is called truth that Bill speaks. It may get under your skin...shit it should cause the problems he addressed were and still are relevant. I don't know why sooo many blacks get upset when they hear the truth about themselves. They just want an escape goat...like using "the white man" blah blah all the time, though it's true they contribute to our suffering. The black community needs to wake up and if that takes some tough love...so be it.

It's only a conservative versus liberal discussion b/c you MAKE it that way! Since when is posing what you believe to be helpful answers a POLITICAL thing at all?! Being old doesn't make Cosby "a conservative" any more than being black makes him "a liberal." Just LISTEN to the man!
@martystreets Good so they should avoid having multiple uneducated children by multiple partners. Not everybody needs to get married but they do need to realize that if they have kids they should learn to come together with the child's or children's other parent. Kids should be raised in a stable environment.
@fmcneillii Honestly, man do u come on here just to say ignorant statements.. who is "they"? You have to understand Im an individualist and i believe this argument is flawed because we not "they" are indiviuals not a group not a race just individual people. yes i am black but im make decisions base on what i feel and not what others thinks. this is partly because i don't believe in religious dogma which i believe is the root of humanities problems.
Im not sure if you think you're being productive addressing these issue but your not your just making statements just as bill Cosby did. the way i see if you don't want to help with the problems instead of just pointing them out on your high horse your a lame. Come on youtube just to say shit u cant say in reality. Either way im done with this debate.. Shit is boring its just fodder for racist individuals.
Jus cause a child grows up in a 2 parent home that does not mean a better than life than a child with 1 parent. Its about what u teach that child.Me personally,I have 2 boys, 20 and18.1 is in college & the other just graduated from high school & they did all that with 1 parent. It doesn't matter what race u are. If there is sum1 that child's life that believes in him, is there for him and loves him, that child will do great things with their life. But that child has 2 also want that for himself!
@mizundrstod I respect what you are saying but I can't entirely agree from the standpoint that kids who grow up with 2 parents do indeed have an advantage. it doesn't mean that they will be scum of the earth w/o 2 parents but it is more difficult to be successful. Kids need the balance that a couple brings to their lives. We are so scared to say that their is something not right about the less that perfect circumstances that we sometimes live in that it has made people defiant to their flaws
@mizundrstod How can having 2 parents that love them, believe in them & are there for them not be better than having 1? It is pretty simple I think. and as far as race not being a factor, I can't co-sign that 1 as well. Young black children need all the support they can get from parents because their margin for error is so much smaller. Black boys don't have the luxury of going through rebellious years with a single mother until they mature and find themselves. The world will right him off.
@Th3Individual As for the fools in jail, there'd be a proposition: because you chose to lead a life of crime instead of contributing to society, you are going to work it off. You and your pals are going to Texas from the streets of Detroit where you'll be knee deep in pig shit at a large piggery. You'll get paid, but you won't see a nickel of it until your sentence is up or you improve your behavior by A LOT. Others would be assigned to (CONT)
@Th3Individual Sitting in self-pity and acting like your woman is an extension of you is bullshit. The best thing you can do for her is stay off the street, not get a girl knocked up, turn off the tv and Xbox, and study for the SAT, GED, GRE, MCAT, or some combination of these. Get your butt at least to a community college and make something of your life so you can turn around and make something of where you live!
@Th3Individual What black men need to do is go to school, pull up your damn drawers, & realize that this ain't the Color Purple: it's not so much that black women wish they could cut your throat for being a chauvanist pig. It is that ALL women hate you for it, and are sick of seeing you drool when P Diddy releases yet another music video with fat asses shaking in their faces & LeBron's bed looks like it should have a McDonald's sign over it : 1 billion served. CONT
@Th3Individual Treating gays like shit doesn't solve a thing and only makes a preacher a hypocrite: Dr King's wife, before she died, admonished the black community to see themselves in the faces of the gay & lesbian.
It is going to take a realization of black men that getting it into your head that you must save your women and children and take action is stupid-this is going to take every man, woman, and child age 15 and up.
It will take the passing of legislation where crack and coke have the same sentence. It will take passing of laws that centralize the school revenue and redistributes it evenly. It will take telling the preachers to get off their high horse and stop treating sex as a taboo thing & start handing out the condoms: 14 years old is too young to be a mother. Sending her down South isn't going to work either as this isn't 1965.
@Th3Individual Eliot Ness went after Capone. It is going to take legalizing marijuana for certain uses and thus take a big merchandise item out of the arsenals of kingpins. It is going to take new tactics in going after crack dens-instead of shutting one down so another can go up, wait until winter....and then seal the pimps and losers inside, cutting off water, electricity, and making cell phone communication impossible. @Th3Individual It is going to take an unprecedented effort to get folks in office who will say, "I am tired of not being able to go into X neighborhood" and also "I am tired of not being able to get by in my own neighborhood" and do something about it. @Th3Individual Maybe. But the truth is that these neighborhoods-Brownsville in NYC, Western Baltimore, & huge chunks of Detroit-are mostly black and in horrific shape. blacks in USA are worst blacks i have ever met; i have blk friends from colombia, panama honduras alot of them cool and down to earth but im sorry its until u come usa; u see all these problems; every community in USA has a big problem with AAs even africans coming to america; they have a problem with them; not AAs are bad but alot of them are mess up

Boyce is so full of it in this its not even funny. Also the other dude but he's not as bad. I mean they talk about putting into context. Take 10 mins and if you study non mainstream his take a five minute walk down that lane. Wow, that is deceit, further Bill Cobsy implied this in meet the press. Many black people in the conditions Bill is refering to, are not taking responsiblity. Sorry, Black Problems are problems mainly of responsiblity. Not saying external forces aren't their but act right
@Ryukikon Boyce is always full of it. he's embarrassing, IMO. He is making a name and money by trying to convince black people to blame others and get mad when someone calls them out for PERSONAL responsibility.
You put it well. OF COURSE external factors and influences are ALWAYS there. But you MUST start by improving YOURSELF and your immediate surroundings. Excuses be damned. it's good to recognize influencing factors, but to use them as an excuse or crutch is a slippery slope.
Nobody can do any of this for them. Ultimately, it is their home, their families, their lives. Focusing on how "oh, but divorce rates are so high nationally" or "babies born out of wedlock is across the board" is great if we want to focus on national stats, but doesn't solve anything for the black community itself, might even encourage some to sit on their butts and do absolutely nothing to change things...just like so many of Cosby's generation died for.
@shadowkitty56 Another VERY well stated post. though I really don't like Dr. Watkins, his BS is inspiring quite a few well thought out, logical and TRUE rebuttals. That is good to see!
The other half of the bargain has to come from the actual denizens themselves. They have to be the ones getting the better grades at school. They have to throw out the dope peddlers and risk their necks to do it. They have to make it hard for opportunistic rats like BET to make money off the thug image by making it so incongruous as to what is really going on in the streets that they go out of business. They have to become cops to get on the force and police their own neighborhood.
or pay and the bureaucrats couldn't educate their way out of a paper bag. It's a mong---ian cluster f--k.
The solution is a combination of collective effort to clean up the mess and take back the neighborhood AND ALSO big improvements in socioeconomic infrastructure, the kind that requires lawmakers. (ex: instead of basing school funding on local taxes, centralize the whole city and distribute so that these schools get a bigger piece of the pie, equal to their white neighbors.)
Drugs crept in. Welfare checks were written. Jobs that paid got harder to get without an education & hours got long. A lot of mothers in the inner city today are working like animals to keep their heads above water and have to do it without a father for their kid...and there is nobody there for Junior to talk about his homework or anybody to stay on him. The mothers argue with the teachers for not doing enough, the teachers feel frazzled for having to make due with little support
We all know what happened next. The factories shut down. As they were often the main employer in a given area, suddenly,a lot of men were out of work and out of luck. Those that could move, did. Those that couldn't watched it all fall apart. Because small businesses in the area often relied on the money factory workers brought, most died with the factories. Life got harder, Reagan got elected, and programs designed to make black schools better lost funding.
All of these places were once booming centers for factory industry. A black man, having little education, could get paid very well as a worker and still have enough to send his children to the colleges that were opening up their admission or the traditional black colleges. Admissions committees of the time were biased, alright, but the average black man could afford to send his kids there-that is the point. If the kid didn't want to go to college he also had the option of joining Dad
On the other hand, Cosby is ignoring some hard truths. In the 50's and 60's, black Americans, esp. those living in the cities, had something that got scarce in the 70's, died by the 90's, and is approaching critical mass right now: jobs. Look at a map. Where are some of the worst places for inner city crime today?-L.A. Baltimore. Philadelphia. Detroit. Chicago.
COmpare this to when Cosby was young or even starting out as a parent himself: the majority of black Americans had two parent households, where fathers were present. Schools, though nothing to write home about as they were segregated, had higher rates of high school graduation. The crack epidemic was decades away and the communities of the cities in particular were much tighter knit. It wasn't a bed of roses by a long shot (if it was Malcolm and Martin would have been out of a job) but it was.
Most of these murders are not perpetrated by whites. Many of the more violent deaths are drug related and the drug trade has taken a huge toll on the community at large, economically and healthwise. Currently, in the USA, the most likely carrier of HIV/AIDS is a black female under the age of 45 and attitudes regarding homosexual sex and black men make it very difficult to prevent new infections among black gay men as it is taboo, esp. in traditional circles like the church.
Cosby is right on the matter of social problems in the black community: they have been going on for a number of years. The numbers are bad: more than half of all black kids are born out of wedlock and statistically are more likely to be born out of wedlock than any other race. A large pool of black people have relatives in jail or on parole. Murder is the #1 cause of death for black males age 18-25.
Cosby only has part of the solution. So does Watkins. In truth, both these men have ideas that, if combined, would go a long way to solve a lot of problems. So, at the risk of the firing squad (cracking knuckles) here are my two cents.
What white person or any other race is coming out speaking on these issues with their race or American citizens as a whole? Bill Cosby is black, and while he ain't racist, what people in America do you think he cares about the most to save or correct? I love all people, but the issues with my black brothers and sisters can possibly affect me, my decendants, and other family as well as our reputation and perception. If other races don't care about us or our problems, then tell me who should?
I do agree this is an American issue, in my state there are so many white people on crack, having babies out of wedlock, killing, rape, child molestation, Etc. and this has been going on for years, the same problems that are happening in the black community are happening in the white race,
Do you go to work and tell everyone every last detail about your home life? No, we need to keep certain conversations in house and private and address them ourselves you have 15 minutes of fame and to waste 1 of those beating up our own people Jews Hindus & Muslims dont bring their issues to the public eye and us trying to heal our nature with the nature of someone else is not the answer.
@4nathaniel maybe its becuase the jewish, hindu, and muslim communities don't have the issues that we do. our issues have things that need to be addressed openly and freely in my opinion
cosby is just bashing!! He needs to mention the role of white folks & The willie lynch syndrome of why blacks act the way we do,Hello during slavery, it was the role of blk men and women to produce kids for the slaver & unfortuantely it's continueing and other guy talking don't try to put the focus on hispanics bout them having more kids these days, please if whites can produce themsleves then they would, they have to get their sperm count up tehehe before they distinct, they know about that lol
@therealestsista the thing people don't seem to get about what Cosby said is when he said that shit he WASN'T talking to white people, He was talking to HIS people while IGNORING the white people. You know what people did, I know what white people did, so there really isn't any point in going over it between us. He chose the perfect forum to say that shit too, a place where it would be HEARD by as many black people as possible.
@n0s1r U c that's the problem we/he can't ignore the white people. both him & the president like to tell blk. folks what we should b doing yet ommiting the role that white folksplay hello.I feel blaks would b more receptive of constructive criticism if within the same message he tell of how he understand how bleek& nonpromising it may be when u have white folks with their boots on blacks necks/oppression! He makes it seem that we create our own problems while sparing the feelings of whites sigh
@therealestsista There are many whites that uneducated, ignorant and have an attitude that someone owes them something. I know this because i have many in my family that act that way! Intelligent, educated and globally aware people, of all races, go to school, get good jobs and nice homes because they take responsibility for themselves. They don't reproduce like bunnies because it is irresponsible to have kids you can't support financially. And they don't expect taxpayers to foot the bill!!!
@shellyk411 Thx for sharing! However reg. producing like bunnies was the motive from the white slave master for the blacks to produce! Yea its been a # of yrs since slavery but the effects still remain today which is sad.So until black people can expell the Willie Lynch syndrom which was designed to keep blks enslaved for 100's of yrs, generation 2 generation then the slave mentality will prevail& same for white folks where u feel justified n your actions of being n charge sigh a vicious cycle!!
@page371069.... maybe per capita. But there are too many, on both sides, with this attitude. Something has gone horribly wrong with our society and it's views on personal responsibility and it's affecting people of all races. It just happens to be pointed out more often in the black community.
the divorce numbers r so high....u would be a fool to think black women are the only single parents, or even the most in numbers for that matter.....the black community is poorer than most, but is no more broke than the average.......pay attn to the words being use.....RATE, PERCENTAGE. We may have a higher chance, but not the most. think about it.
@MaximusRelaximus Its wrong to use the words how they use them. Like blacks have a monoply on all the bad shit. Its my white brothers and sisters who lead( actual head count, not % or rate) in all the bad things that mainstream has put a black face on. like welfare, teen pregnacies, and single mothers.......will credit u this. Whites dont lead in prison. % or actual head count. but thats another story.
How can this be a discourse between Boyce Watkins and Bill Cosby if Boyce Watkins is the only one that gets to speak? How is this not some no-name trying to generate publicity for himself by talking down to famous celebrities?
It is MOSTLY a black problem. You just cannot argue with the numbers. The ratio of blacks and out of wedlock births and blacks and incareration rates,is most troubling.Bill Cosby for President!!!!
I disagree with this guy about the out of wedlock issue. When he notes that among whites the out of wedlock rate is about 30% is that also of a father who is no longer involved. If they are together but not married it's not such a big deal. The problem is that in the black communicty not only are they not married but the male is doing a hit and run.
Even with that said, in some black communities the rates are close to 90% that's 3x that of whites. That's nutty.
@TheOtherView . what proof do you have that black men do a "hit and run?" Nonresidential black men are more likely to take care of their children than any other race.
Nonresidential is the key word. No race of man can effectively care for their kids as well as they could as "residents". So what if Black men care for their children a little better in this area than other races. Its still ineffective all round.
I'm looking out for our people who actually can do better. There is definitely a problem. More positive behavior and outcomes from our people to the point that we are famous for it. We are already famous for being strong people and enduring our past as well as current prejudices. Pants down to the ground, booty-shaking videos, neck-rolling attitudes, low expectations. No. We know we have work to do. I can't speak for the other races. There are some stigmas that need to be addressed
I love bill but i think Boyce is right.7:39-8:09 but as black people we know we have freedom of speech (but dont) (rev wright) think bill is trying to direct it at black children, but i dont think the bangers, in the slums, projects and ghettos aren't hearing this. it's about interaction that makes the connection you can donate 1 million dollars to a fund, but if your a social worker your middle class worker helping less then middle class people i dont got a job but i volunteer its time vs money
Can I say something? We didn't start this wedlock shit. Look at all the White Slavemasters who raped their slave women and left baby mama's from Mass to Texas.
This discussion says more about the so called educated American who has a very well-founded inferiority-complex.
Middle-class white Americans work at corporations where their employers have real educations, the private and very expensive kind.
The panic and stress this produces is relieved by scapegoating the poorest and most disenfranchised, and ironically, this idiotic coping tactic proves the inferiority fear correct.
I like these brothers, but Boyce lol. "It is more about class than it is about race" That is a croc of doo doo Boyce lol. This is about right and wrong buddy boy. Stop playing the victim Boyce. If your not looking at the issue head on, you are not going to fix it. Stop making excuses, take responsibility and fix it. Thats Cosby's whole philosophy. Everything Boyce is saying basically amounts to "I don't like how what he said made me feel" Stop whining fam lol.
The reason Bill is targeting black people is probably be because, and this may be a shock but, HES BLACK! Whoaaa...!
He's targeting people he knows, people who are generally like him, and the people he cares for. If you're Christian, and you want to fix something, are you going to go to try and target Muslims, or Christians? I'll safely bet on the latter.
@saurianwarlord True, but you stick with people that you can generally relate to. Someone whos your skin color, your religion, likes your type of music, ect. They're not the same, but they define people. dig ?
Oh, of course. It's just "races" is more broad than religious groups. I tend to think the whole relation is nothing more than learned behavior, rather than genetics.
@saurianwarlord Well genetics play a huge part into it. Yes we can learn, thats true, but genetics dictate a lot of what we, I guess, "decide" to learn. If you look at feral wolves that we've been training for ages the ones bred to be nice and the ones that aren't hand picked will still act how they were bred, regardless of the parents/trainers try to treat them. If that make sense (its a bit condenced.)
Religion on the other hand is a much more learned behavoir than "race" is.
I agree with wolves; however, the difference between humans and wolves is that humans have a deeper conscious that allows them to make better decisions than an animal that's programmed to act a certain way. Humans have control over their actions, and have a conscious of what's "right" and "wrong" as opposed to a wolf that basic instinct is to be a hunting machine.
@saurianwarlod this is true, yes, we can make conscious decisions, but I also believe, and know, that just because we have the capability to do so, doesn't mean we are capable of always delving into this. I'm not saying that people are allowed to act "like animals." I am saying, though, that not all people are above basic-animal-human intelligence. Humans in general are smart enough to be intelligent, but as a whole we don't have the common sense to be.
My family once lived in the South Bronx. None of us have been to see the "old neighborhood" since 1955. Why would we? It was just a neighborhood; a collection of buildings. We moved on.
The mentality of "I'm from the pj's" keeps you back. You can't love a building the way you love your family.
A house is only as good as the home you make for yourself, your children, etc.
the black middle class abandoned the "foot" soldiers of civil rights struggles which is why we have these problems today . not many police, doctors, lawyers, business owners in the "hood"..back then most urban blacks lived in the pj's professionals included. most moved away when they could, leaving the blind to lead the blind... Cosby was rumored to buy NBC some time back. How far does he stay from the projects were he was raised?
This is bigger than Bill Cosby and he is not the problem and why we sit talking about whether hes right or wrong is a part of the problem. Bill Cosby has dont a lot more than talking in his life hes walked and chiseled out his view of what a good world should be and its not enough. More people have to get beyond talking and start walking. Peace.
Cosby is not entirely right or wrong but the fact that hes taking the time to address the issues that stand regarding our young people and minorities is reason to praise him not to condem him. To the blacks who feel his words are too severe and they sting I know for sure they dont sting as much as those whips. As a black American I get behind this. I may not agree with Bill on everything but his addressing the issue could only serve to inspire to do our best to be positive agents in community.
I think Cosby speaks to blacks because thats his experience but I think he knows its an national issues and not just exclusive to blacks and I'm guessing hes thinking that most people with a mind to respond to these social issues will understand that. I think many blacks themselves do take it upon themselves to pigeon hole themselves into the image of a people and culture beyond repair. Cosby is one example of how untrue that is.
It just seems like all we get taught to do is finger the problem be it a single person or group of people but we never get the lesson on how to confront the issue. Could just be nature at play, were limited mentally and physically to inventing gadgets and formulating philosophies and procreating and not a whole lot more. One radical solution would be to stop fucking until we are brave enough to take responsibility for cleaning up the messes we make as a people nationally. Not going to happen.
We're just too sensitive in this American republic. Everyone in this country no matter their culture or religion or skin tone knows what the hell is going on in their community, the trouble comes when we have to decide how to react to the things we see happening. People dont know how to respond in many issues but they are more than aware theres a problem. I do believe at this point we should be beyond the finger pointing and the condemnation, those lines have been drawn since minute one.
I can understand both sides , I myself grew up in an urban area in the projects right around the corner from the projects where Mr. Cosby come from, and I do believe that this is an american problem there are people of all races people that may not be the most educated we have them in all families and neighborhoods it is not fair to say that it is a black problem. The saying that it takes a village to raise a child is true we need to use it to build our society up.
Bill Cosby is absolutely correct. Having two parents teach the children the importance of tolerance and patience to get along. If one looks at instant gratification in life, one will only experience frustration, hence high imprisonment and self destruction. Finally, peole need to stop looking at god for answers. The answers are found within oneself, not supernatural. The end.
Bill's agenda is to enlighten and warn people of the potentials of a complacent society. Black/white/hispanic/AMERICAN. He used the black culture as it was closest to his heart. You unfortunately sing the tune of ignorance and write as a second grade dropout would, perpetuating what he is trying to eliminate.
P.s the words are: "As" and "they're" or "they are".
exactly! Its not just black problems but they are HUGE problems for blacks. People like Sharpton and Jackson wont say things like Cosby is saying because they cater to the victimization mentality.

But that child has 2 also want that for himself!
mizundrstod 10 months ago
@mizundrstod I respect what you are saying but I can't entirely agree from the standpoint that kids who grow up with 2 parents do indeed have an advantage. it doesn't mean that they will be scum of the earth w/o 2 parents but it is more difficult to be successful. Kids need the balance that a couple brings to their lives. We are so scared to say that their is something not right about the less that perfect circumstances that we sometimes live in that it has made people defiant to their flaws
unisol06 10 months ago

Not saying external forces aren't their but act right
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon Boyce is always full of it. he's embarrassing, IMO. He is making a name and money by trying to convince black people to blame others and get mad when someone calls them out for PERSONAL responsibility.
You put it well. OF COURSE external factors and influences are ALWAYS there. But you MUST start by improving YOURSELF and your immediate surroundings. Excuses be damned. it's good to recognize influencing factors, but to use them as an excuse or crutch is a slippery slope.
mamacornettesmoney 10 months ago
Nobody can do any of this for them. Ultimately, it is their home, their families, their lives. Focusing on how "oh, but divorce rates are so high nationally" or "babies born out of wedlock is across the board" is great if we want to focus on national stats, but doesn't solve anything for the black community itself, might even encourage some to sit on their butts and do absolutely nothing to change things...just like so many of Cosby's generation died for.

They have to become cops to get on the force and police their own neighborhood.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
or pay and the bureaucrats couldn't educate their way out of a paper bag.

The mothers argue with the teachers for not doing enough, the teachers feel frazzled for having to make due with little support

on the assembly line.
Life got harder, Reagan got elected, and programs designed to make black schools better lost funding.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
All of these places were once booming centers for factory industry. A black man, having little education, could get paid very well as a worker and still have enough to send his children to the colleges that were opening up their admission or the traditional black colleges. Admissions committees of the time were biased, alright, but the average black man could afford to send his kids there-that is the point. If the kid didn't want to go to college he also had the option of joining Dad
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
On the other hand, Cosby is ignoring some hard truths. In the 50's and 60's, black Americans, esp. those living in the cities, had something that got scarce in the 70's, died by the 90's, and is approaching critical mass right now: jobs. Look at a map. Where are some of the worst places for inner city crime today?-L.A. Baltimore. Philadelphia. Detroit. Chicago.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
COmpare this to when Cosby was young or even starting out as a parent himself: the majority of black Americans had two parent households, where fathers were present. Schools, though nothing to write home about as they were segregated, had higher rates of high school graduation. The crack epidemic was decades away and the communities of the cities in particular were much tighter knit. It wasn't a bed of roses by a long shot (if it was Malcolm and Martin would have been out of a job) but it was.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
Most of these murders are not perpetrated by whites. Many of the more violent deaths are drug related and the drug trade has taken a huge toll on the community at large, economically and healthwise. Currently, in the USA, the most likely carrier of HIV/AIDS is a black female under the age of 45 and attitudes regarding homosexual sex and black men make it very difficult to prevent new infections among black gay men as it is taboo, esp. in traditional circles like the church.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
Cosby is right on the matter of social problems in the black community: they have been going on for a number of years. The numbers are bad: more than half of all black kids are born out of wedlock and statistically are more likely to be born out of wedlock than any other race. A large pool of black people have relatives in jail or on parole. Murder is the #1 cause of death for black males age 18-25.
shadowkitty56 1 year ago
Cosby only has part of the solution. So does Watkins. In truth, both these men have ideas that, if combined, would go a long way to solve a lot of problems. So, at the risk of the firing squad (cracking knuckles) here are my two cents.

What white person or any other race is coming out speaking on these issues with their race or American citizens as a whole? Bill Cosby is black, and while he ain't racist, what people in America do you think he cares about the most to save or correct? I love all people, but the issues with my black brothers and sisters can possibly affect me, my decendants, and other family as well as our reputation and perception. @therealestsista There are many whites that uneducated, ignorant and have an attitude that someone owes them something. I know this because i have many in my family that act that way! 4nathaniel 1 year ago

Middle-class white Americans work at corporations where their employers have real educations, the private and very expensive kind.
The panic and stress this produces is relieved by scapegoating the poorest and most disenfranchised, and ironically, this idiotic coping tactic proves the inferiority fear correct.

@saurianwarlord True, but you stick with people that you can generally relate to. Someone whos your skin color, your religion, likes your type of music, ect. They're not the same, but they define people. dig ?
TotalKaosE 1 year ago
Oh, of course. It's just "races" is more broad than religious groups. I tend to think the whole relation is nothing more than learned behavior, rather than genetics.
saurianwarlord 1 year ago
@saurianwarlord Well genetics play a huge part into it. Yes we can learn, thats true, but genetics dictate a lot of what we, I guess, "decide" to learn. If you look at feral wolves that we've been training for ages the ones bred to be nice and the ones that aren't hand picked will still act how they were bred, regardless of the parents/trainers try to treat them. If that make sense (its a bit condenced.)
Religion on the other hand is a much more learned behavoir than "race" is.
TotalKaosE 1 year ago
I agree with wolves; however, the difference between humans and wolves is that humans have a deeper conscious that allows them to make better decisions than an animal that's programmed to act a certain way. Humans have control over their actions, and have a conscious of what's "right" and "wrong" as opposed to a wolf that basic instinct is to be a hunting machine.
saurianwarlord 1 year ago
@saurianwarlod this is true, yes, we can make conscious decisions, but I also believe, and know, that just because we have the capability to do so, doesn't mean we are capable of always delving into this. I'm not saying that people are allowed to act "like animals." I am saying, though, that not all people are above basic-animal-human intelligence. Humans in general are smart enough to be intelligent, but as a whole we don't have the common sense to be.

Cosby is one example of how untrue that is.
allthatsolid 2 years ago
It just seems like all we get taught to do is finger the problem be it a single person or group of people but we never get the lesson on how to confront the issue. Could just be nature at play, were limited mentally and physically to inventing gadgets and formulating philosophies and procreating and not a whole lot more. One radical solution would be to stop fucking until we are brave enough to take responsibility for cleaning up the messes we make as a people nationally. Not going to happen.
allthatsolid 2 years ago
We're just too sensitive in this American republic. Everyone in this country no matter their culture or religion or skin tone knows what the hell is going on in their community, the trouble comes when we have to decide how to react to the things we see happening. People dont know how to respond in many issues but they are more than aware theres a problem. I do believe at this point we should be beyond the finger pointing and the condemnation, those lines have been drawn since minute one.

Bill Cosby is absolutely correct. Having two parents teach the children the importance of tolerance and patience to get along. If one looks at instant gratification in life, one will only experience frustration, hence high imprisonment and self destruction. Finally, peole need to stop looking at god for answers.
