The fire didn't destroy the king kong model itself. in the mummy ride, in the room the tv screen with cheap looking mummies popping up, there's hair behind the screen. that's king kong's arm.

@adkinsdiet The route changes daily depending on what areas are being used. Some days the trams would skip this area all together.

Also, the trams sometimes drive nearby where they are filming, and the guide has to stop talking so that his voice won't be on the soundtrack. This guide mentions a 'quite zone' at the :46 in this video.

My cousins went to Universal Studios last week. After the studio finished rebuilding the "New York City" set, they are currently working on rebuilding the King Kong attraction for the studio tram tour. Meanwhile, they are very disappointed that King Kong 360 3-D won't open until July 2010!

the last time I went to Universal Studios was like in 2006. I had the same tour guide. He was hilarious. The Studio Tour is the best tour ever. King Kong was my favorite part of all of it.
