Her acting is good but then, there is no point in acting well when cannot even sing. She moved too much, so she doesn't have enough breath to sing this song. I mean lucia has to sing over 18 minutes almost consecutively. If she acts well but this will lead to no breath, what is the point of acting so well. She seems to be having a lot of trouble. 2:38- 2:39. she is breathing note by note. But i still like her
I heard Damrau in this role at the MET on Oct 25, 3 days after this recording was made. I sat in the Family Circle-- top, TOP balcony. Her gorgeous voice and persona projected clearly and movingly all the way!! Her duets with the amazing tenor Piotr Beczala were simply gorgeous. And the mad scene was just magnificent!
I add Damrau to my list of great Lucias I've heard in the flesh-- a list that includes Sills in the early 70s and Callas in Dallas in 1959 (yes, THAT one!)
I can't believe ppl don't like this! this along with the queen of the night are my favorite roles for Damrau! her interpretation is pretty different from others like Dessay! With Dessay you could see that she was crazy, with Damrau you can absolutely hear it, and she had a warmth to her voice that was really unique. To be honest, i thought i was gonna hate this, but i'm pleasantly surprised!

Sinceramente, después de ver y oir la versión de Dessay -atención "CON LA MISMA PUESTA"- resulta que se nota lo grande que es Natalie Dessay y lo qué no sé qué le sucede a Damrau que se fatiga tanto. Yo creo que es por un cambio en el peso vocal.
Claro, el otro gran tema es que quizá no se la juzgue por lo gran cantante y actriz que es. Ahora si va cantar otra cosa que cante otra cosa pero que no se salga de estilo. ¿e vero?. Salirse de estilo sería una cosa grave, la obra deja de ser obra y el cantante hace lo que quiera. Es como cantar bel canto gritando todo el tiempo o desafinando ¿no?

um, no offence but you're missing the forest for a single tree....I was there! It was one of the most incredible things I've seen in my entire life! Hopefully some day a video will surface...she was flawless!
