  • Niel, I loved this Vid and particularly the Sound System. I have been using My Loco Sound (disappointing) and Brian Jones FX-4U very good by the only thing that cut it for me was the Class 37 recording which I have installed in my battery Austrian 2095 Diesel. You can see the Vids of this and my T+D Train on my 'Dunnyrai' Chanel. What system of Control are you using for your Battery Stuff? I am using Aristo Revolution Train Engineer which I find to be superb

  • i was in the real one last june.could not tell the difference it looks so real would love to see more

  • Did the prototype haul such long trains, I thought it was a shunting tractor?

  • There is a 1956 photo in 'The Wee Donegal' book from of Pheonix hauling two 40 ft bogie coaches and at least 6 vans - don't know how fast mind you :-)

She was occasionally used to haul normal trains, and could take 5 vans at a max speed of 27mph on a reasonably graded line - for example Strabane to Stranorlar.

  • Ahh, you live and learn thanks for filling me in, I've had thoughts that if I ever modelled in 15mm scale it'd be a good place to start for a scratch build and if it can prototypically haul 'real' trains then even better!

  • What is the sound unit in this please? I like the way it revs up when setting off and slowing down.

  • Hi

It is from the States - the Sierra Galloping Goose sound unit.

  • Thanks for that, it sounds fantastic!

  • Simon

I would recommend Roger Cromblehomes book on modelling the CDR - full of drawings of stock, signals, buildings etc.(including Pheonix)

    Neil
