Jose Feliciano WILL BE GUEST IN SANREMO 2012 again!
The evening of the Festival dedicated to old international hit, Thrusday 16 He will sing again Che Sarà in duet with a young italian singer called Arisa who partecipate this year at the festival. So all we see again Jose Feliciano on the same Festival where He was presented the big hit Che Sarà in 1971.
Jose Feliciano, great hit, I remember this presentation, there was great expectation in Latin America to see if he was going to win in that prestigious festival in 70's
@Japanese1970 Sorry, the winner of Sanremo 1971 was Nicola di Bari and Nada with song "Il cuore è uno zingaro".But certainly Jose Feliciano was the most big sensation that year and sure one of the best icons of the enitre festival history. Jose was re-invited at Sanremo Festival like "international guest" in 1977 and in 1998 where he re-sung Che Sarà and his current song "americano" which don't become a hit (unfortunately that was a wrong spanish song for italian market,he should sing in english)
@Japanese1970 the winner in sanremo 1971 was sure Nicola di Bari and Nada.... this was the response of race-judges:1-Il cuore è uno zingaro (nicola di Bari e Nada) 357 votes) 2- Che Sarà (jose feliciano and ricchi e poveri) 316 votes) 3- 4/3/1943 Lucio Dalla and Equipe84 297 votes. In Italy don't was ever a law then who win Sanremo goin to Eurofestival, sometimes.. not ever ;)
@oliverhh ???
@ImperatorPosticus The song was written by Jimmy Fontana, who gave Che Sarà to Jose Feliciano and Ricchi e Poveri, but the first who performed this song was Feliciano, in 1970. Ricchi e Poveri performed the song in 1971, at Festival di Sanremo.
The first was Jose Feliciano, who was invited in Sanremo festival in Italia by the writer of the song Jimmy Fontana who was his friend and write Che Sara for him. In Sanremo at that time any song was sung from two singers by the same record label: Jimmy Fontana was sure He was the second singer of this at that festival but at the end the RCA decided to give space at their new group called Ricchi e Poveri. But Jose is the first singer of this song
The funny thing is - Che Sera or Que Será - is known all around the world for so many years now, and no one remembers the song which won the competition.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
bullshit ! his voice is shit ! :)))) damn those old singers are fucked up ! back then was no music man...listen to Francesco Napoli - Balla Balla to see there is a big difference
@cjason123 well. it's mostly about double consonants, he pronuonces collina "colina",abbandono becomes "abandono" and so on. In addition, O and E vowels are sometimes 'open' when they should be 'closed', for example he pronuonces "boca" with an open O while it should be "bocca" with a closed O and 2 Cs
@cjason123 he sings very well, during many parts of this song he pronounces very well and it s impossible to understand he s not italian, but there are some words and verbs that he pronounces in a way that an italian like me can understand he s not italian, but, i can tell you that he sings and pronounces better than many italian singers,,,
i love this song, take me back when i was in high school and left all my friends , families , relatives and my little town...after that, everthing changed in my life...now are just memories...don't know when will see them.. thanks jose feliciano...
We love you!
on the short list of the greatest guitarists to ever walk the face of the earth.......and also blessed with an incredibly soulful and emotive voice. one of the most underrated artists of modern entertainment age.
It's very difficult to have the right words in English for make a beautiful translation of a poetry, we need a poet who speaks Italian and English, we that speak Spanish have the glory to hear this artist on his mother language: Spanish and myself: I speak Spanish, Italian and English but not at the level enough for translate the beauty of this poem-song...
The song is about a poet singing on a small mountain village, a place he feels as "his" town, born and lived there, but he cries the palce is antique and for reasons of life he must leave it. Almost all his friends are gone, and the rest that remains will also depart after him; he in full melancholy wonders what his future life will be, nobody can ascertain, but the poet sings also in full hope that the morning will bring the answer...
Davvero Unico interprete e ancora piu grande chitarrista!
one of the greatest songs ever! I had the luck to be in Italy 1971 with my parents. My father bought me the single and i`ve it still. I love that song
It was the first song that I knew from him, and I felt in love immediately without understanding a single word - its not really necessary - you could feel the sadness, melancholy and lost in every single note.
My friends already, they went away almost all And others will depart after me. I am sorry because I loved their pleasant company It is my life. I have to go. What will be? What will be? What will be? What will be of my life, what will be? In the night my guitar will sweetly sound And a girl of my people will cry. My love, I take with me your smile That was the source of my first love Love I promise it to you, how and when I do not know Only I know that I will return.

This song is also popular in Asia albeit with the Spanish version Que Sera.

Ognet,
Please allow me to add more. Feliciano was a finalist at the
San Remo Song Festival. In the past years, the winner automatically
went to represent Italy at the Eurovision.
However, the 1971 winner was Massimo Ranieri with L'Amore e un
Attimo. It is almost forgotten outside Italy, but Che sera remains
an Evergreen. This is often the case of Song Festivals, the winning
song remains in oblivion while the non-winning becomes a classic.
Another good e^xample is Eres tu.

@Top100Guitarist
I stand corrected. Then my source was wrong. Why Nicola di Bari was not
sent to Dublin for the Eurovision? It was Massimo Ranieri with "L'amore e
un attimo. In the past years, the winner automatically represented Italy to
the Eurovision. It was only the later years, this did not happen.

@Thevolumex
Thanks for the information. I am not sure, if this uno zingaro is identical
to the one performed by Iva Zanichi. Anyway, it was Che Sera which
emerged as a great hit from this contest. Che Sera remains popular in
Asia and America (Que Sera).
Like in the Eurovision, the Winned had no guaranty to be a hit. For example,
L'Amour est Bleu for Vicky Leandros 1967,Congratulations 1969,Beg, Steal
or Borrow with New Seekers 1972 and Eres tu with Mocedades 1973.

can I get a translation?
randyrhoads4737 1 year ago
It's very difficult to have the right words in English for make a beautiful translation of a poetry, we need a poet who speaks Italian and English, we that speak Spanish have the glory to hear this artist on his mother language: Spanish and myself: I speak Spanish, Italian and English but not at the level enough for translate the beauty of this poem-song...
DarthDarka 1 year ago
I understand that. I would just like to know what it's about and all.
randyrhoads4737 1 year ago
@randyrhoads4737 Well, I would then make a humble try:
The song is about a poet singing on a small mountain village, a place he feels as "his" town, born and lived there, but he cries the palce is antique and for reasons of life he must leave it. Almost all his friends are gone, and the rest that remains will also depart after him; he in full melancholy wonders what his future life will be, nobody can ascertain, but the poet sings also in full hope that the morning will bring the answer...

Davvero Unico interprete e ancora piu grande chitarrista!

This makes me feel so nostalgic. This is way today's music sucks, no Italians.

It was the first song that I knew from him, and I felt in love immediately without understanding a single word - its not really necessary - you could feel the sadness, melancholy and lost in every single note.

But here are the words:
My village, that is on a hill
Stretched like an old man who dies
The sorrow, and the abandonment, they are your sad company
My people left you without happiness.
What will be? What will be? What will be?
What will be of my life, what will be?
If I know much or I do not know anything
Tomorrow we will already see , and it will be
It will be, it will be like it will be.

What will be? What will be? What will be?
What will be of my life, what will be?
In the night my guitar will sweetly sound
And a girl of my people will dream.
What will be? What will be? What will be?
What will be of my life, what will be?
In the night my guitar will sweetly sound
And a girl of my people will cry.

Saludos
