@WarBeer - I don't think supercars are bought on hard earned money..they're for the fabulously rich and aristrocratic..you can absolutely see this car on the french riviera.. thats what is partly it's appeal.

rather anybody who has hard earned their money wouldn't be a fool enough to buy a supercar coz they know the value of money. they'd more prefer a luxury car.. s-class, R/Royce, Jag..etc

and recommending someone be shot dead for buying their kid a car is disgusting.

The Corvette only had an old straight 6 (a design from the late 1920's called BlueFlame) in 1954. It wasn't a big seller and GM almost axed the Corvette, until somebody had the idea of putting the all new smallblock V8 in it in 1955.

The real influence for the Corvette was the Jaguar XK120, which was the true supercar of the late 40's and was a big seller worldwide. Hence GM made their own "XK120" in the form of the Corvette

The Mercedes 300SL was racebred though and won everything
