  • induct Keith Whitley into the Country Music Hall of Fame...put sentence into your search engine and it will take you to the petition.....PLEASE ....let his beautiful voice live through the years...only we can speak for him now.....

  • Shelly Mangrum was smokin' hot in the big '80s! Hmm, wonder what her hair looks like these days!

    Oh, Keith was good too!

  • i find it so strange that keith supposedly had such an alochol problem, years before he died. yet every interview and show he's articulate and focused. makes me wonder

  • Wonder no more. He was a binge drinker. He would go for weeks without taking a drink. So, 90% of the time he was very articulate & focused. He came into alcohol during his years with Ralph Stanley. It's a widely known fact that, when one would come off stage, a lot of times people would hand you a drink, & it was available. A teenager, eventually, will give in to it if it's offered enough times, b/c it's hard not to when they see their idols doing it.

  • @MAMsMom97 so when you say binge drinking what do you mean? he would get drunk for what a few days or a week, or like weeks at a time? i'm not being salacious i'm just trying to understand my issues as well as his thanks so much for your help

  • yea she sure is flirting with keith. lol

  • No direspect for Keith but my search was for a video of Shelly, Boy did I have a crush on her!

  • i like when he says "get some color" you can tell hes really from the country. a great singer

  • I love Keith Whitley and I could make a meal out of Shelley Mangrum.

  • I was at work at newspaper office that I wrote for when the news came over the AP Wire Service Was a big shock- I have all of Keith's lps on vinyl and some 45s

  • What did she mean, "Don't close your eyes?"

  • "Don't Close Your Eyes" was the first single & video off the album of the same name that Keith was there to promote. It wound up being his 1st #1 song & the 1st of 5 straight #1's for him & the #1 country song of 1988 in both Billboard & Radio & Records magazines.

  • I wish I could have bought a t shirt from one of your concerts, I dwell on the fact that I took for granted you would always be here, and I would have a chance to see you play, I feel your pain Lorrie, I still to this day miss it too..

  • I remember you well...you were my hope, and voice when I was down, when a person had found the bottom, looking up and seeing the bottom,..you helped me through it..I wish you were here so I could tell you thanks, but i know your in a place of peace, and I hope you hear my address. Thanks for your songs, I miss you today my brother.

  • Mmmmm, don't EVEN get me started!!! :P

  • Keith i am 19 years old and my dream is to one day see you play live-R.I.P Keith Whitley

  • I can't believe how long Keith has been gone.

God Bless him I sure do miss his music

  • Aww thanks for posting this!!!I can't believe he is not with us anymore but oh what a legacy of music he's left for us!!

  • Thanks for posting! I wonder who recorded the songs he wrote for other people, as he was saying - could you give me some examples? I'd be excited to here some! Thanks! Ralph.

  • His song "I Want My Rib Back" was covered by Gene Watson. He wrote "Hopelessly Yours" which was a hit for Suzy Bogguss. He wrote the Christmas song "Joseph & Mary's Boy" for Alabama, and "There's a New Kid in Town" was a hit for Michael Johnson and Alan Jackson. There are 4 examples right there. Thanks!

  • I always admired his rich vocal talent and the soulful voice he had. "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" and "Charlotte's in North Carolina" are my two favorites from him, because I could feel the emotions he delivered in those songs. I will always remember this day in 1989. Keith Whitley's legacy will forever live on.

  • Is this from 1988?

  • Yes, I'd say this was from July or August of that year. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Aint A Man Around Even Comes Close To Keith
