We were attacked by a group of religious extremists who were longing for another chance to go at a major power after helping to run the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan. Bin Laden hated the fact there were US troops in Saudi Arabia and cited this as a reason but I think he was such a pathologically driven megalomaniac he would have found other reasons if this hadn't been the case.

I agree with much of what Paul says, but I do greatly disagree with his militarism standpoint. If he gets what he wants, eliminates all foreign bases; What happens when WW3 breaks out, and we don't have those foreign bases.

@punkrockloser7 In that unlikeliest of scenarios, we'd actually be better positioned to defend against an attack because our military would be concentrated within our borders. We wouldn't be stretched so thin across the globe. In WW2, we didn't get involved until our country was attacked at Pearl Harbor. We didn't have military bases all over the world back then. However, we do have better intel now. The worst thing we can do if a global war breaks out is be positioned someplace else.

I honestly have never paid much attention to Ron Paul, and have always been on the Democratic party side. But, I am REALLY liking what he has to say and I am shocked that the crowd actually booed him when he stated the facts on why we were attacked. It is true! We need to spend money to DEFEND our country within our borders and stop wasting money (and risking our American lives) fighting wars in (and establishing military posts in) countries where they do NOT want us there!

@LorenScott69 Well if you're new to Ron Paul and you haven't seen him in the 2008 debates, you might want to watch?v=AD7dnFDdwu0 . His argument with Santorum was pretty much a flashback to his argument in 08 with Giulliani. Only, I think Ron performed much better in 08. He was more precise and effective with his word choice. This time around he maintains the same message that I agree with, but he's slightly less convincing.

This is the most important election that we may see in our life time and you want to throw it away and hand the election to Obama? I have not yet found the candidate that I support, but I will vote for any GOP candidate because I do not want to see Obama win. I have written in votes before, but this time I am swallowing my pride to do what is best for this nation.
