  • why does the gun not sound loud?

  • @survivalist497 call 22 ish not laut!

  • @survivalist497 its a .22 the bullet is proably the size of your pinky nail

  • why does the gun not sound loud?

  • i have a bolt action and semie auto....bolt action is always more accurate on any gun because the semi auto heats up and and can lose power...(something to do with the rifling i think)

  • You dont here it break the sound barrier because they are in a very open environment. If they were in the woods it would be a lot louder.

  • the bullet is only louder in the woods cuz the sound bounces back before it loses more energy. . . a bullet going 300mph in the open goes just as fast as one going 300mph in the woods

    (nice name)

  • @RYDERkN yeah, i know. i said you can't HEAR it break the sound barrier. i didnt say that the bullet wasn't breaking the sound barrier.

  • but you can hear it break the sound barries... the speed of sound at sea level is 340.29meters per second... the crack you hear is the sound barrier being broken ... theres a pop and then a crack, the pop is the escaping gas from the barrel... the crack is the bullet breaking the sound barrier

  • what the fuck are you talking about? sound will not rebound off of sand. so when you shoot a little .22 in a desert. i have this same gun in woodland camo, and i've shot it in the woods, in a field, and in indoor and outdoor ranges. sure, you can hear the pop then the crack in a range or the woods, but not in an open field, none the less, a desert. all you hear is the gas escaping from the muzzle and the action going back and forth. there is only a pop in this video, no crack.

  • in the recording you can acctually hear the crack i hear it immediately after he stops shooting... in the recording it doesnt really pic it up well, but in the instance of the shooting it does infact mack a crack that the shooter and i can hear

  • what velocitys do you get with that gun I dont hear it break the sound barrier

  • I think its about 1240fps.

  • Great Rifle...I picked up the camo version at Walmart for $167 and 550 rounds remington hollow point for $13....scope rings $6 and scope for $20...dang good deal and a heck of a rifle...very accurate. Easy and fun to shoot and the ammo is dirt cheap....

  • Ya you can't go wrong with .22's for straight up blinking. I however just replaced my 597 with a CZ 452 american in 17 hmr. Pretty fun caliber and the rifle is a tack driver. Can basicly put each shot into the next one easily at 50 yards.

  • cz's.

    they are awesome...

  • is the kid shooting .22 shorts or longs?

  • Would have to be .22 longs, shorts wont cycle the bolt. I've never tried shorts but I tried .22 long hollow points and they didn't have enough to so I figured shorts would definalty not.

  • This is .22 longs. Shorts will not cycle the bolt.

  • @itsoveragain You mean .22 Long rifle. .22 long and .22 lr are completely different and the 597 made for Long Rifle

  • @ncaoairsoftmember, Yes you are correct.

  • I got one

  • Wtf, sounds like an airsoft gun???

  • thats what so nice about this rifle...ya dont need ear protection and no kick at all...gotta luv 22's

  • yeah gotta love 22 but the 597 is shit and 17hmr or 22 mags have no kick and shoot faster + further =)

  • I'm gonna get one within the next week or so. its about $170, but its worth it.

  • This gun was on sale for about $100 bucks at Big 5. Never misfires with Federal Ammo, I can hit a golf ball at 100 yards all day. I'd say this is good enough for the price and so far a good rifle.

  • wow...$100 thats a heck of a deal...they were on sale for low $100's at Cabelas a few months ago..but were not the camo stock I wanted.....

  • I don't care for mine, I hear 10/22's are better, but they are a couple hundred more.

  • no like 30 bucks more at dunhams

  • I also own a rugger 10/22...and they can be had for around $200 so just a few dollars more. As far as a better rifle..no way..the Rem/Rugger or both equal in my opinion. The one thing i noticed is there are more accessories for the 10/22 like stock options, magazines, etc. But quality, accuracy, reliability both are equal to one another...

  • the 597 is a much better rifle right out of the box, the 10/22 needs a few mods for it to shoot as well as the remington

  • at stores around here (Washington State) Ruger is 200, Remington is 160.

    I bought the Remington.

  • GREAT GUN by far one of the best autoloading .22's on the market.
