  • Why not just have a buddhist wedding?

  • i just love this channel! thnk you for doing this videos ;)

  • Actually looks rather like a mosque to me.

  • ... Okay, so instead of just getting married in a regular church, or having the traditional Japanese ceremony, they build a phony church and get a fake priest to marry them in said fake church... ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It seems they go to great lengths to avoid spirituality.

  • I am quit positive the tradional Japanese wedding would be much more beautiful than this. When you really think about, it if what the guy is saying is true, it's all about artificial beauty something the wabi masters of the tea ceremony took out of fashion in Japan quite a while ago. Perhaps too ago long now a days!

  • Don't worry, there are a load of fake churches in the west too. Whole denominations of them, sometimes.

  • like las vegas

  • Ugh, "Western-style" weddings...

I was recruited to be a flower girl for one during my family's year there because of my lovely whiteyness.

Japan has a wonderful culture of its own. I don't know why so many people feel the need to make ugly imitations of "Western" culture to replace it.

  • @MorroccoSurrogate cause they think like you ^^ they think western is an cool culter like you / we think japan is cool ^^

  • I like their style better.

But maybe because i am not from there, if i would i would like our style better, lol

  • Well I would not exactly call them imitation. These "are" marriage centers but most of them are not shaped like churches right off the bat. They are usually a whole compound that has a small church inside or outside and they usually have a christian minister to perform the wedding but you never really know what his qualifications are, or if he's legit. This one though just looks shady. I would never get married in something as gouty as that.

  • Isn't Christians supposed to be on the rise in Japan? It's traditionally been 1% with the exception of the old days- but after WW2 it's been slowly raising and in 2010 some poll i think Gallup said 8% of the population considers themselves Christan (mostly younger people)

It seemed like an awfully big jump, so i have a bit of doubt that it wasn't a misspoll- but you never know i guess.

  • @XxxSakura101 If that's the case, oh great... more pathetic "westernization".

  • Are there any real churches in Japan?

  • @oyeboy94

    Some

  • lol...that's so sad (or even a bit "bad") that it is immitation...hehhehheh

  • i love your accent

  • ラブホテル?

  • @atmark666

    No, wedding center.

  • OMD even though its for wedding places isnt there any churches or mosques in japan? there are really famous churches and mosques in tokyo. Interesting..

  • Maybe for people who want a different themed wedding. Some people where I live have Oriental themed weddings why can't that be reversed? There are tons of wedding themes to choose from, and this happens to be one of them.

  • hm interesting...but i suppose that's what most would think of when they think of their wedding...'traditional' in a church...disregarding the religion. and a lot of christian churches do look different architecturally, apart from the obvious cross, and I agree with isouro, I'm a catholic myself, and I don't find this offensive at all.

  • all churches are ugly :)

  • So how common are Christian churches in Japan? For example, how many would you expect to see in a large city? Is it about as rare as Buddhist temples in America are?

  • It's a "baffle." (Architecturally speaking, this kind of building.)

  • Those weddings must be really good income if they build such thing.

  • That church looks like the episcopal church that's down the street from me.

  • i think they should stick with the traditional =)

  • I would call this a "Japanese Fantasy". The building reveals the Japanese idea of a beautiful Christian/Catholic Church. Very entertaining.

  • I wonder how the families of the couple take to the idea of a psudeo-church. Figured they'd be more at home in a Buddhist temple.

  • 日本人って可笑しいですよね。^ ^;

    Japanese is funny:P

  • :(( WHY????

  • The towers looke like they're made out of plastic. I don't really like it... They could've tried to 'age' it or something similar.

  • I hope nobody mistake as Love hotel. : )

  • its kinda sad. i like japan embracing its own culture

  • Food for thought for the ppl that are saying its offensive to christians.

What about the christians or religious ppl that by those buddah statues and paintings u see in all the interior decorating places, and use them as accessories in their homes?

Its both ways so dont be so quick go on the defense.

  • @isouro I think they're both kinda tacky. But that's just my opinion. Just saying some Christians think it's in bad taste to disrespect other religions symbols and I think you're right. If you're gonna be offended at one, you should be offended at both.

  • @isouro - You are so right when u say that. There's not a design magazine or a decorating show where they don't show someone with a humungous statue of Buddha sitting on their living room floor as a decor prop or even ones in their bathroom(it apparently has a "calming effect"on them.....lol.) ..how disrespectful is that!

  • i think it's affensive to christian.

  • Imitation Brand Christianity! Oh dear imitation-God, the fun I could have with this!

  • Is it easier to have a western style wedding compared to a traditional style wedding?

  • How is it fake?

  • @HEL0HEB there's no christian religious aspect behind it. it's only there for looks.

  • ハハハ

I was actually offered a job as a fake minister. The most ridiculous thing was that they called my work (I'm an English teacher) and they asked if there was a foreigner who spoke English and Japanese.

I laughed so hard after the phone call.

  • Don't like it.Looks like Mickey Mouse house. But if there's a fake priests job going,I'm the man lol

  • Do Japanese use this style so much that theirs alot of these buildings around?

  • Rofl

  • damn really!? that is just crazy weird!

  • Wow, that was really interesting. Very informative.

  • I wish we had more imitation churches here in the US, rather than the real ones.

  • I'd love to play the foreign fake minister. How much would I earn?

  • How religious are the japanese in general?

  • I'm an American... If I ever choose to get married, would it be possible to have a Shinto-style wedding in Japan?

  • These I do not dig.

  • How cool!! You could outfit the place with bats, cobwebs and vampires and have a ball!!!

  • Interesting. Even though religion can be great as a subject of interest, as a way of life, it seems to have become a subject of apathy in this day and age and rightfully so. With the history of death, destruction, cruelty and misery under it's belt, it's slowly becoming a shadow of what it use to be.

  • To be honest, it really doesn't look like an authentic church! At least not the ones we have here, anyway. Mostly ours are gothic, which are very ornate but kinda ugly and depressing if you ask me.

I'm guessing the ones in Australia look quite different to ours... does it look like an Australian church?

  • @Punk7680 Gothic churches are beautiful!! xD

  • @Twiggyay Some of them are, but some are just bleak. European Gothic Churches are wonderful, the ones where I live (The UK) aren't as pretty, in my opinion.

  • @Punk7680 lol it'd be sick if the UK used swords and arrows again. Then they could have castle wars. It would be KOOOOOOL

  • @Punk7680 I haven`t seen anyone in the UK (i have been there, but i was 5 xD)

but everything in GB is gray... so i understand xD

  • i thought this was funny.. why waste money on something that's fake.

  • it's a shame that a lot of different cultures are trying to imitate what white blonde people are doing nowadays, whether it's drugs, rap music, or weddings. I think the Japanese culture and customs are beautiful- why ruin it ?

  • @TheNintend0Channel - i don't think it's cuz ppl wanna be white or pass of as white in the eyes of other ppl or even themselves...most girls are infatuated with the idea of a white dress wedding...there's just something romantic and dream like abt it.....i'm one of 'em and i'm not christian. if i marry someday, i would obviously get a traditional wedding(acc to my own culture) but i would also love to wear a white dress and that's where the whole church thing comes into the picture.u get me?

  • I never seen a christian church like that... lol

  • for a christian church this looks ugly

  • @NiKo55BeLiC probably because they don't have hoards of willing drones to throw money at it's construction. like the Christian church does i believe it's called tithing? such bullshit...what a cult.

  • well at least they don't do like las vegas drive thru weddings haha. =P

  • @SaberTanker22

    for sure :)

  • Huh...kinda weird. Very miss leading if your a religious person looking for a church xD

  • That's gotta be the ugliest building, fake or real church, that I've ever seen.

  • i bet they get married on a sly (dont tell there parents) coz i know japanese / chinease parents . . . . theyd slap the crap out of them if they had a white wedding lol, no offense its just most japanese / chinease parents are very strict : P

  • @WOOF1234567891 i somehow believe you are making that up

  • When I bring my Japanese friends into one of the huge catholic churches they are amazed how quiet and peaceful they are. They like all the ornaments and carved woodwork. I don't ask what they think about a guy nailed on a cross as the center peice. They have catholic churches in Tokyo I went to one in the late 60's.

  • I gave you thumbs up 4 this fake church ^^

  • No church bells ): I used to live by 2 churches and they both had church bells played twice a day. Funny how many people in that neighborhood weren't neighborly. Religion is overrated.

  • While I don't really care, I can see how this could offend a lot of people. I say, let them do whatever they want. Who are we to tell them what they can and can not do for a wedding.

  • im christian thats unrespectful to us if vatican see that kind of chruch

  • @kinla123 Stop whining.

  • when you talk about weddings.. how was your wedding?! when ´ve you married?

    Best wishes :)

  • that church is horrible, like no real church ive ever seen, not classy at all, imo

  • I aint christian or any other religion but as a fake church isnt it kind of discriminate to Christian Religion and getting fake priests?

    Kinda?

  • @arhamus They probably just want to get married in a church because they're fascinated by Western wedding customs, how is that even kinda discriminatory?

  • @Nomiss9 As i said I aint christian and i dont know that was my question.

  • @arhamus I know, but you seemed to imply that you still thought it was "kinda" discriminatory.

  • @arhamus - i don't think it's discrimination against Christians...if anything it's a compliment because brides are saying they find christian weddings to be beautiful and would like to experience it for themselves...they're celebrating the most important day in their lives at a church..that's gotta be a compliment!!!

  • Which is cheaper, western or traditional style?

  • Very interesting.

  • why they like the western style? how did they got married before this kind of weddings?

  • @Julmuu

    Just fashion.

Traditional style is Shinto or Buddhist and they still do them.

  • wow i want to see that! :o

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom there is also alot of Christian Japanese, dont forget that. haha!

in the past they had many civil war between Shinto and Christian.

  • altho i'm glad they like this style

  • @Julmuu Wtf.
