im sorry but i cant put my so called FAITH in to a BOOK that somebody or multiple PEOPLE WROTE. ive had to WORK for every single thing in my life. and this world is a fucked up place. there WILL be a world war three i can guarantee it. science=fact religion=opinion
why do u think there is so many different religions out there?
- "Prove to me that one day when your laying on your death bed..."
Even if that should ever happen, that still wouldn't prove anything about the existence of any god. That would only prove that people who are in a state of panic don't always think rationally. It's just sad that brainwashed victims of religious indoctrination like you seem to be in that irrational state of panic all the time. Snap out of it.
I wouldd rather believe that on day Il get to see the family members I've lost over the years again in a better care free place they call heaven,if you truly didn't believe in god you wouldn't go to funerals or say good byes to ur pet when they died, they're dead how would they can't here you,you see my point there something in us that's makes us want to believe regardless of our upbringing,I never said I believed in god to eny on but I shore do like the idea.
@natshenkin Nope, atheist go to funerals the same reason why we go to funerals. Its part or the process dealing with someone life. And please do not bring that up again as it sounds stupid.
I would rather believe that I would see the people I loved again as well. But that would be believing without evidence, based on pure faith. And that would be fully and totally dishonest of me.
Reality is harsh but I rather deal with the truth and live my life that way then live a lie.
@natshenkin Very silly comment. We go to the funerals to say bye to those who have left this life you dumbass. That is about as stupid as saying you should not say bye to your kid when she goes off to school just because she will come back!
@187Mexi187 I'm sorry to hear that, but someone can claim to be Christian and not follow the teachings of Christ, and so don't even judge them to be Christian. atheists would shudder at the thought of being compared to stalin or a chairman mao, whose purpose was to wipe out religion, and were, obviously atheists. Jesus hates religion, it's not about a set of rules, it's a personal relationship with Christ that brings you peace. It's simply relying on His strength not on fallible ppl.
@Dado75 Save the "no true Scotsman" routine. Each denomination, faction, and clique all point fingers at the other and say "they are not true Christians".
If you do the math on all the finger pointing about who's a true Christian you'll be left with no one is.
Atheists don't have to shudder at the though theists pull this one out of their backside all the time like you are doing now.
Stalin and Mao didn't abolish religion. They outlawed the old so they could become the new religion.
@xdassinx Way to miss my point entirely. Bottom line is it's obvious when somebody is just claiming to be Christian, yet full of hatred and pride. Doesn't mean that ppl actually following the Bible's teachings with their whole heart are wrong. atheists can be so ignorant lol. You're right, Stalin and Mao didn't abolish religion; they sure tried though, and failed miserably. Atheists don't have to shudder at theists, no doubt. But on their deathbeds, there will be much shuddering..
@Dado75 Oh, very good on the death bead thing. Never heard that one before.
Actually, being full of hatred and pride would be following the bible's teachings. Not to mention raping, looting, and the occasional genocide. What a wretched book.
Typical Christian, you haven't read it HAVE YOU. I suggest you do. If nothing else hopefully you'll decide to at least look for a god worthy of worship instead of the blood thirsty monster you bend over for now.
The burden of proof lies with the most ridiculous claim. Clearly the folks who claim that the magical man in the sky created everything have the most ridiculous claim.
@gauSSian3142 it always lays on the person that makes a claim. Which is all cases is the theist. However, and extra burden of proof can be made on the atheist that are gnostic atheist/strong atheist. Who claim no gods exist.
Basically it is impossible to completely disbelieve in a good as u cannot prove against it. You also do not know what "god" is other then the fact he is supposed to be someone who created earth.
Short answer: Agnosticism is not a legitimate philosophical view - it is simply the understanding of the fact that the belief of god could only be a belief, and not fact.
Alister McGrath has explained science does not lead to atheism. In fact I'm a christian myself and I like science. A christian worldview is more exciting than an atheist's depressing worldview. I really don't understand atheism anyway. You can be a christian and have freedom. Be saved and do anything you want. To me it seems like atheists have a hidden agenda. do you like making people miserable?
@ajhrockerboy6 I somewhat agree with you.Science does not necesarily lead to atheism. Reviewing theist claims and dogmas with a skeptical mind does that (ironically); Science can also lead to atheism by comparing the rigorous research to a religion's claims. As for the hidden agenda idea, it is funny XD. Well personally, I wished theists would review their dogma and compare it to the real world and research, and also trying to inject it through politics.
@alo754 And can you tell me why i should be a skeptic? there's a fundamental difference between blind faith and faith. The 911 attacks was an act of blind faith. Merely, living a life based on a belief in god without any hostility towards anyone else is called faith. Please explain to me how that's so horrible? In fact in my mind atheists are ignorant. Religion even if false can be thought of as a form of meditation and yes people who meditate actually live longer than those who don't.
@ajhrockerboy6 First, the difference between faith and blind faith lies not in whether it could cause you to hurt someone, but simply how willing you would be to reconsider your position.
Secondly, I find it highly arrogant of you to assume that atheism makes people hopeless and miserable. I could equally assume that religion makes people hostile.
Are you insinuating that a comfortable lie is better than a tough truth? I would take the truth any day, even if it hurts.
I'm baffled as to why you asked such a stupid question. Why should you be a skeptic? I'll tell ya what, if you go and put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger while the magazine is loaded, I guarentee that you will gain immortality. So tell me, since you obviously don't think being a skeptic is good, you should do what I said, because you have no reason to doubt me right? Oh and your mind doesn't make something true or not. Technically, all people are ignorant.
Ummm, Atheism is a disbelief in God, nothing more, nothing less. Atheists don't make people miserable, Religious people who try to force their believes on others and also wish to have the state legislature adhere to their religion is what makes people miserable. You can be an Atheist and have freedom too, no dictator, no divine intervention, live for the day, and no, Christians can't do anything they want by their Dogma, if they sin they have to repent or they burn in hell.
@warmkaril1 Technically, it's a disbelief in Theistic claims. If I were to go to an Aztec shrine and there were people worshipping a stone and said that the stone was their God, I'd believe in there God, whether or not it has an unique or special powers is a different story, but as for it's mere existence, I believe it because I can see it, touch it, smell it and so on. Similarily if someone said their God is love, then sure I'll buy that, but not if it has any additional attributes.
Russell seems like a douche. Bet he thinks he's gonna get laid with that chick he's sitting next to. Some people were just meant to be virgins forever.
I have different stats too. According to a 2009 Pew survey, just over half of scientists of the AAAS (51%) believe in some form of deity or higher power; specifically, 33% of scientists say they believe in God, while 18% believe in a universal spirit or higher power.
I think it's safe to say that in the scientific community at large, at least half is atheist, and the rest either agnostic or theist.
@deiu9999 so some idiot wrote a book and knew everybody would believe it. How we believe is heavily influenced from humanities ways of believing back then
@deiu9999 so then if the bible is true, and no one on earth knew or read about it, would we end up with the same results today, probably not. that tells me "Ooh, a book, lets read it. it says this, this, this, and this will happen", in other words, how much you wanna bet that more than half of the predictions came true from humanities influence lol, we read it, so we did it. back then 2000 years ago, everybody believed everything, they wernt smart enough to argue otherwise.
@wwwPizdecNet It's not just a BOOK. It's the story of how this world began and the prophets who lead on to Jesus Christ. There's a lot of history in the Bible- fall of the Roman Empire during Ceasar's reign.
you can see the brain but you can`t see the mind, so does it means that it doesnt exist ? It`s the same with God, you can see He`s creations, He`s perfect creations ( the brain) but you want to see Him(the mind) to belive. Obviously both exists, God and mind
@deiu9999 What a dumb analogy. The brain can be seen, and it has been seen! We know that we think, and we can actually observe the brain while it's working! Is that the same with God? No. He's not there to observe, question, or hear.
@TheMeMarvin Explain to me where did everything come from? There are many scientific theories out there, but they all rely on chance and randomness, so ultimately which makes more sense? Chance or a higher being that cause the start of everything?
@Weraisethenerdyflag When did I ever say God?? There may indeed be a "supreme being" if you will, but neither you nor I can prove that, only ponder. I'm talking about our sole existence, everything we perceive here on Earth and in other cosmos's must have a purpose, we didn't just happen out of spontaneous poofs and booms. Everything was created, molded. For a reason no one will ever understand.
@nokomokoify Yes, lets play "What makes more sense"
1. I don't know, because there is no conclusive evidence to say for sure either way.
2. a "supreme being" molded everything and has a specific path for everything to take
If you think the Origins of the Universe, Abiogenesis, and Evolution are all "random, chance, poofs and booms" then you have not done any research at all, and really don't understand what you are talking about. Evolution is the opposite of random.
@deiu9999 I'm a Christian myself, but hey, if you want people to listen to you or think about God's existence, then you should give a couple well-thought out explanations
@Zuulify could you kindly prove it? How could you explain this. In the law of thermodynamics Energy cannot be created nor destroy, so where it comes?... It cannot just existed in the INFINITE beginning of time.. Or in the Big Bang theory.. You cannot say that it just existed in a blink of an eye... before you say that we Christian are stupid kindly test you IQ.. Or study Physics^^ no offense
@thechosenonehehe Well, according to Christians, God has always existed in the infinite beginning of time, so why couldn't the universe have existed by itself? And in your response to your question, energy cannot be created or destroyed because energy is matter, and matter cannot be created or destroyed either. Which makes sense, because no matter how many pieces you cut up a piece of sand into, it'll always exist, it'll just exist at a smaller level. Possibly even smaller than sub particles.
@thechosenonehehe We as the human race wants to understand how things works. But for us to understand how everything holds together so most our brain see or perceive the enviroment around us. If we can't perceive ex how a lightning strikes the earth so want our brains perceive something else to fill temporary gaps in our mind that we can not understand for the moment and there for we chose a god. Just to have an idea ofhow a lightning bolt struck. But now... "Have no more room for text. =)"
@thechosenonehehe Continued from where I ended =) ...But now with help of Physics we no longer need to have a "divine force" to fill up those missing gaps in our mind, when we can have a perceive thought how the lightning works so is there no room for a "divine force". Now the the next, well besicly, if you read what I talked about in the first comment so is it just a temporary thing for us humans to fill gaps in our minds, but still we have more proof that a bigbang existed... (Need more text.)
@thechosenonehehe ...bigbang existed then some god created everything. We got more knowledge now then we had befor, the universe is growing more material and radiations is moving further out in the deep space. I'm going with theories about a universe befor bigbang and a unvierse befor that and is repeating all over again in infinity, the theory is called something about "Cosmic microwave background radiation" Read about that and you thing might become clear. =)
@Zuulify Thanks for the response^^, Well I respect your opinion , whether Human can or cannot propose a better proof of God's existence, Creationism cannot be called as False.. Creationism is when a Higher Intelligent being created the Universe with an Outstanding Perfection..
@YouGotsTheRabies She didn't handle the question well. The easy answer is "Gnosis speaks of knowledge and theism speaks of faith. Therefore it is possible to have 4 sets. Belief without knowledge, belief with knowledge, disbelief without knowledge and disbelief with knowledge. I know of no Atheist who claims to know that no God or Gods exsist, all I know claim they see no compelling evidence that would cause them to believe.
When someone says they can prove God, I always tell them, before they even begin, that what you have to offer would be considered obvious for a Nobel Prize, and that it would change the world forever. Not only this, but you're willing to accept the notion that you or whoever you got this information from is not like the 99.99999999 percent of people who thought they could prove God and were simply in error and misguided.
@TheBowsersMario When someone says they dont believe and god first I say is.. okay theres a machine you never ever seen before but im showing you it.. so I want to know created this machine??
@richardxx9011 Showing me a machine which is known to have been built from pre existing parts by people in factories, says nothing about a magical being who spoke the universe into existence ex nihilo, if that's the point you're trying to make.
After all this time, it never even occurred to me, nor have I heard it in such a way that before the big bang, the laws of this universe may not have applied. I'm not sure that is right, but it makes some sense.
Did you ever think that for a seccond that you could be wrong? I mean I'm just asking if you have ever doubted your own opinions, Or have you always been 100% sure in what you belive in. That being an Athiest
god was created by man. that's it. believing because you can't disprove is stupid. it's like believing werewolves or fairies because they can't be disproved.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you become a cannibal by symbolically eating his flesh and a vampire by symbolically drinking his blood. Telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. Makes perfect sense to me.
i can believe that god does exist but i think i have a theory where he came from...its the mixture of religion and science... how were we made you should know this... but a long time ago..... history had repeted itself their was a big bang but they all faild because us humans werenot powerfull enough to withstand.. but then some lucky one had the power of god.. he created us in his image and everything we know.
@lkforever28 I completely agree that the designer of the universe is God, however, how do we discount the Big Bang theory? That is going against science and science works with us in expressing the existence of an intelligent designer.
@RobThe3339 It's better to point toward life's absurd ability to adapt and survive in any type of environment via "random mutations" that allegedly have nothing to do with a conscious observer engineering DNA according to experience. If every mutation was truly random, then life would always die in early stages due to the near infinite combinations of genomic structures that can render an organism dead rather than better off. Sentience is clearly a pillar aspect of nature.
- "well when you live a TRUE christian life God promises you a Fulfilling life. ... i'm going to look forward to some hardcore fun for all eternity! haha"
You too, look up "Pascal's Wager" and the "No true Scotsman" fallacy. Goodbye.
@baxtar1963 look around the universe, each of us has a soul...your a very young soul...! Why would god come down and say "hi guys...here i am? whats up?" what would be the meaning of your life then! You wouldn't be able to live life accordingly...the whole point of coming here is to live each life we have charted for our selves! Life is a form of learning...God is a higher power, create all and end all.
@baxtar1963 Purple Unicorns come from the idea of horses and rhinoceros ‘s which are matter and matter can not makeitself therefore a powerful being had to create them and that powerful being, beingGod.
@baxtar1963 Things can not just bring themselves into existence. There cannot be an infinite number of causes to bring something into existence. Since the was a time the universe exists did not exist, but now does, it must have a cause. So there was an uncaused cause of all things. the uncaused cause is God.
- "Things can not just bring themselves into existence."
So what? 'Nothing' doesn't exist. You already started with a wrong premise so the rest is irrelevant.
Your biggest problem is that you can't link your limited knowledge of how the universe works as proof for the existence of any particular God. As the previous commentator pointed out, any real god could be Zeus. Or how about Brahma? A billion Hindus can't be wrong with such an old religion... or can they?
I do not know for sure that God exist or not but so far my life experiences have led me to believe that there IS in fact something more than just random occurrences going on. I think this "Entity" exist however it is inherently evil and not the good god everyone say it is. Although capable of extreme good, it is ultimately an evil being and is ignorant of a higher TRUE GOOD GOD which cannot be known by humans because it exist outside of reality and has nothing to do with this physical world.
@excthour the existence of good and evil means there is such thing as morality. Therfore there must be someone who provides these laws. That someone is God. There couldn’t be such a thing as morality without God. Just because bad things happens does'nt make God evil.
@lmurtha1 I cannot force myself to believe something I don't think is true, simply on the basis of fear. I need to have a reason to believe your proposition is true to accept it. I wouldn’t be atheist if I actually believed you now would I? If you believe in absolute truth then you must have a standard by which to measure it. If God exists then he must make that standard perfectly clear, or else there is no means by which to measure absolute truth. Thus I couldn't begin to believe in God!
@lmurtha1 I don't know if you've heard this before, but the problem with Pascal's Wager is that for it to work, you'd have to assume that EVERY god exists. Because if you accept the Christian God and it turns out that the ancient Greeks were right all along, you're just as screwed as an atheist. Unfortunately, accepting one god often makes it impossible to accept the others.
Your existence is a Proof "God exists" ... Roger Penrose who is an atheist btw "the probability of the universe in which life exists = 10^10123" which makes it IMPOSSIBLE for universe to exists by chance or series of coincidences !!! this number tells you how precise the creator's aim must have been BUT you reject because God has given you the free will to chose out of his Mercy
@jaddy316 Seems like you cant find any information about this, that does not talk about a "creator", so finding the actuall thing he said about this would be interesting.
BUT, what you just said is a lie, 10^10123 does NOT mean its impossible. it actually mean it's POSSIBLE.
anyway, without the actuall text where Roger Penrose says that, and what factors he used when comming up with that calculation, your "explanation" of god is just as bad as any oher reason.
Would you believe in God if there was no Hell? Do people believe in him, for the most part, due to the fear of eternal damnation? I truly wish i knew :/.
Im only 13 but i still know that one dosent need proof that god exists! you have to have faith in God! Believe! these days evryone who isent a believer wants proof... : / Well, like i said im only 13 so i dont know that much. :) PRAISE THE LORD!! <3 HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE YOU!!!
@TheWinxBloomClub The point of this show is to find out if God ACTUALLY exists or not. If you decide to believe in him even though there is no evidence, that's fine. But we like to base our beleifs on facts, not on what makes us feel good.
@DaFleegsta Being an atheist makes you feel good. It makes you feel good that you do not have rules to follow because there is not a supreme authority over you. You atheists contradict yourselves too much. I'm sorry, but the whole earth talks about a God.
@andredid No. Not being IGNORANT makes me feel good. And I DO have to follow rules, there ARE authorities over me (the government, police, parents, etc). I respect my community because I know that if we are cooperative we all benefit it (and therefor I benefit from it). If I do good things, good things are more likely to happen to me in return.
Theiststic beleifs are probably one of the most contradictory things on the planet.
The whole earth talks about god? Yes. Do we beleive in god? No.
@andredid We evolved with the complex ability to recognize what we are doing and how it effects others and ourselves. We are also evolved with emotions, which are triggered based on what we have done. I feel bad when I think I've hurt someone. I feel good when I think I've helped someone. Morality was evolved, just like everything else that makes us.
@andredid Shit.. Comment didn't post for some reason.. Oh well, here it is again:
People with bad morals died off as a result (due to retaliation from people with GOOD morals), unable to reproduce and pass on the 'bad moral gene'. People with GOOD morals actually managed to survive long enough to reproduce (cooperative communities contribute to individual survival) and continue the 'good moral gene'. Moral evolution is very similar to physical evolution. It's natural selection; basic evolution.
"Within agnosticism there are agnostic atheists (who do not believe any deity exists, but do not deny it as a possibility) and agnostic theists (who believe a God exists but do not claim to know that)."
So that would mean that you two are still Agnostic. Just called "Agnostic Atheists" Rather than 100% Atheists.
god prob doesnt exist and the more and more we come closer to the future there will be less followers of christianity. grow up people its the 21st century and u have no proof to prove god. and no u will never be able to prove god. ATHIESTS FOR THE WIN
Pascal's Wager implies there's no downside to believing; there IS.
a) You might pick the wrong god.Theists have this assumption that it's "my religion or none", but there are thousands of faiths;
b) If you spend your life believing and worshipping and there is NO god, you've wasted the only life you're ever going to get deferring to the proscriptive nonsense in your respective holy book.
c) If your ONLY reason for believing is to "be on the safe side", god is going to KNOW.
IF there was a god, why is there war, unjust death, plague, and rape? Aren't we created in this image? If he's omnipotent mean he can do ANYTHING why hasn't he destroyed all evil and satan?
@lmurtha1 lol, i think you need to forget about thoes options and think very hard about you're comment, cause If that is the reason you belive in god, then you're one really paranoid, scared little boy who is on a "righteous" path to a psychiatrist.
If god really does exist, imo, he would want us to live and belive in ourselves and live our life to the fullest, that is it. And If that is not good enough for him and he NEEDS to be worshipped, then he is not a god, his just an arsehole!
@lmurtha1 - I totally fucking agree with you 100% If you don't believe in my Goddess of Love (who loves you Dearly and Greatly) then you're FUCKED for all of Eternity. If you can disprove this Goddess of Love, then I'm wrong. You're free to be Christian. If you can't disprove this Goddess of Love that I worship out of fear of Eternal damnation -- then you're FUCKED!
@TheAtheistExperience How is it a lame old argument? Makes a lot of since to me. I think your just saying its lame because you have no counter argument. Other than the fact that you are too "Pridefull" to admit he or she is right in the argument.
God is an Extra-Terrestrial, because 1% of human dna cannot be found. And in EVERY religion - somehow the gods descendent from the sky. In every religion their god somehow disappear. It easier to believe in another life form affecting mankind than a white bear mystical man passing judgement. And in old paintings you can find a disk like shape. Watch Anceint Aliens on history channel thenn you will some how open your small mind.
@annie123ya i cant see were ur getting that from, most religions r formed by humanities lack of knowlage. ie to comfort them when troble comes to pass, and while i dont belive in god persay i do belive that the idea of religion is ment to be a good one, but ppl twist it into there own form of belief. leading to the screwed up world we live in. And so both u and these ppl r a bit thick for ur beliefs as there formed by an old and uneducated civelization looking for ansewers in dark times.
of god is not mans but my own and what ever works for you is awesome it doesnt mean christians are illiterate some just get wraped up in tradition but no one should judge someone if its good and promotes positive than praise god. but are some athiests athiests to do whatever they want cus the believe when there dead there dead. I dont know but Do good and dont judge
and I dont do certain things now because my faith. When I didnt believe I had no reason no to do things and I was verey bad and did horrible things thanks be to God or rather The power of my faith in god my life has took a major turn in the right Direction. So my Faith worked for me my unbelief didnt. but hey whatever works for you good for you keep it up but God works for me it soesnt mean I am an idiot or telling you youre going to hell because my understanding
Its really not very smart to say either athiest are right or christians because it is both unknown. What seperates christians from athiests for me is that my Faith in God has helped me overcome some things in Life because now that I believe in God He has transformed my heart
by the long list of responses to my comment, it rationally seems that you are all stubborn . I'm not trying to prove anything to you, simply because physically I cant. You all need physical undeniable proof to think something exists?. I believe in God, is it a different God than anyone else? I trust in the bible and what Jesus teaches. Thats my choice. The bible teaches there is only one God, that's all. I choose the bible. You choose to live by nothing...still ill continue to pray for u
@lmurtha1 And the blind acceptance of unreasonable positions as fact without any kind of observable evidence is exactly what is worrying. On the basis of that "reasoning" it it possible and acceptable to come to any kind of conclusion and execute it with calm serenity. Like, for instance, flying planes into buildings...
I'm not sure if a being (humanoid), in essence, exists. One which is actively logging earthly events, leading up to some sort of judgement exists. A being that intelligent would not likely be as involved as such hocum as scripture would have you beleive. The church is a con, but does a sentient force, which actively designed and created us exist? I would have to say yes! I reject nothing entirely except pure illogic!
@lexie2795 Satan created Hell. Good deeds dont get you into heaven. But believing in that Gods son Jesus died for you, and living for him will. You can NOT not sin. thats why he died for you, to wipe away your death sentence in a nutshell. There are many"holy" people that go to church and do good and are still on a path to hell, because they dont live for God, its a front.Im not pushing faith on you, just letting you know where i stand and hopefully one day you will be there too.
This has been flagged as spam show

@xdassinx Way to miss my point entirely. Bottom line is it's obvious when somebody is just claiming to be Christian, yet full of hatred and pride. Doesn't mean that ppl actually following the Bible's teachings with their whole heart are wrong. atheists can be so ignorant lol. You're right, Stalin and Mao didn't abolish religion; they sure tried though, and failed miserably. Atheists don't have to shudder at theists, no doubt. But on their deathbeds, there will be much shuddering..
Dado75 2 weeks ago
@Dado75 Oh, very good on the death bead thing. Never heard that one before.
Actually, being full of hatred and pride would be following the bible's teachings. Not to mention raping, looting, and the occasional genocide. What a wretched book.
Typical Christian, you haven't read it HAVE YOU. I suggest you do. If nothing else hopefully you'll decide to at least look for a god worthy of worship instead of the blood thirsty monster you bend over for now.

Alister McGrath has explained science does not lead to atheism. In fact I'm a christian myself and I like science. A christian worldview is more exciting than an atheist's depressing worldview. I really don't understand atheism anyway. You can be a christian and have freedom. Be saved and do anything you want. To me it seems like atheists have a hidden agenda. do you like making people miserable?
ajhrockerboy6 2 months ago
@ajhrockerboy6 I somewhat agree with you.Science does not necesarily lead to atheism. Reviewing theist claims and dogmas with a skeptical mind does that (ironically); Science can also lead to atheism by comparing the rigorous research to a religion's claims. As for the hidden agenda idea, it is funny XD. Well personally, I wished theists would review their dogma and compare it to the real world and research, and also trying to inject it through politics.
alo754 2 months ago
@alo754 And can you tell me why i should be a skeptic? there's a fundamental difference between blind faith and faith. The 911 attacks was an act of blind faith. Merely, living a life based on a belief in god without any hostility towards anyone else is called faith. Please explain to me how that's so horrible? In fact in my mind atheists are ignorant. Religion even if false can be thought of as a form of meditation and yes people who meditate actually live longer than those who don't.
ajhrockerboy6 2 months ago
@ajhrockerboy6 First, the difference between faith and blind faith lies not in whether it could cause you to hurt someone, but simply how willing you would be to reconsider your position.
Secondly, I find it highly arrogant of you to assume that atheism makes people hopeless and miserable. I could equally assume that religion makes people hostile.
Are you insinuating that a comfortable lie is better than a tough truth? I would take the truth any day, even if it hurts.
Kabitu1 2 months ago
@ajhrockerboy6
Technically, all people are ignorant.
elvebrothergenju 2 months ago
@ajhrockerboy6
Ummm, Atheism is a disbelief in God, nothing more, nothing less. Atheists don't make people miserable, Religious people who try to force their believes on others and also wish to have the state legislature adhere to their religion is what makes people miserable. You can be an Atheist and have freedom too, no dictator, no divine intervention, live for the day, and no, Christians can't do anything they want by their Dogma, if they sin they have to repent or they burn in hell.
elvebrothergenju 2 months ago
@elvebrothergenju Athiesm is a disbelief in any God*
warmkaril1 2 months ago
@warmkaril1 Technically, it's a disbelief in Theistic claims. If I were to go to an Aztec shrine and there were people worshipping a stone and said that the stone was their God, I'd believe in there God, whether or not it has an unique or special powers is a different story, but as for it's mere existence, I believe it because I can see it, touch it, smell it and so on. Similarily if someone said their God is love, then sure I'll buy that, but not if it has any additional attributes.
elvebrothergenju 2 months ago

I think it's safe to say that in the scientific community at large, at least half is atheist, and the rest either agnostic or theist.

you can see the brain but you can`t see the mind, so does it means that it doesnt exist ? It`s the same with God, you can see He`s creations, He`s perfect creations ( the brain) but you want to see Him(the mind) to belive. Obviously both exists, God and mind

@deiu9999 What a dumb analogy. The brain can be seen, and it has been seen! We know that we think, and we can actually observe the brain while it's working! Is that the same with God? No. He's not there to observe, question, or hear.

@TheMeMarvin Explain to me where did everything come from? There are many scientific theories out there, but they all rely on chance and randomness, so ultimately which makes more sense? Chance or a higher being that cause the start of everything?
nokomokoify 3 months ago
@nokomokoify Uhhh... Where did the higher power come from? If it can just "exist," then so can seemingly unimportant matter.
Weraisethenerdyflag 3 months ago
@Weraisethenerdyflag When did I ever say God?? There may indeed be a "supreme being" if you will, but neither you nor I can prove that, only ponder. I'm talking about our sole existence, everything we perceive here on Earth and in other cosmos's must have a purpose, we didn't just happen out of spontaneous poofs and booms. Everything was created, molded. For a reason no one will ever understand.
nokomokoify 3 months ago
@Weraisethenerdyflag Sorry I misread your post and thought you were referring to God.
nokomokoify 3 months ago
@nokomokoify Yes, lets play "What makes more sense"
1. I don't know, because there is no conclusive evidence to say for sure either way.
2. a "supreme being" molded everything and has a specific path for everything to take
If you think the Origins of the Universe, Abiogenesis, and Evolution are all "random, chance, poofs and booms" then you have not done any research at all, and really don't understand what you are talking about. Evolution is the opposite of random.

Or study Physics^^ no offense
thechosenonehehe 3 months ago
@thechosenonehehe Well, according to Christians, God has always existed in the infinite beginning of time, so why couldn't the universe have existed by itself? And in your response to your question, energy cannot be created or destroyed because energy is matter, and matter cannot be created or destroyed either. Which makes sense, because no matter how many pieces you cut up a piece of sand into, it'll always exist, it'll just exist at a smaller level. Possibly even smaller than sub particles.
TheIlliterateDork 3 months ago
@thechosenonehehe We as the human race wants to understand how things works. But for us to understand how everything holds together so most our brain see or perceive the enviroment around us. If we can't perceive ex how a lightning strikes the earth so want our brains perceive something else to fill temporary gaps in our mind that we can not understand for the moment and there for we chose a god. Just to have an idea ofhow a lightning bolt struck. But now... "Have no more room for text. =)"
Zuulify 3 months ago
@thechosenonehehe Continued from where I ended =) ...But now with help of Physics we no longer need to have a "divine force" to fill up those missing gaps in our mind, when we can have a perceive thought how the lightning works so is there no room for a "divine force". Now the the next, well besicly, if you read what I talked about in the first comment so is it just a temporary thing for us humans to fill gaps in our minds, but still we have more proof that a bigbang existed... (Need more text.)
Zuulify 3 months ago
@thechosenonehehe ...bigbang existed then some god created everything. We got more knowledge now then we had befor, the universe is growing more material and radiations is moving further out in the deep space. I'm going with theories about a universe befor bigbang and a unvierse befor that and is repeating all over again in infinity, the theory is called something about "Cosmic microwave background radiation" Read about that and you thing might become clear. =)

@baxtar1963 Things can not just bring themselves into existence. There cannot be an infinite number of causes to bring something into existence. Since the was a time the universe exists did not exist, but now does, it must have a cause. So there was an uncaused cause of all things. the uncaused cause is God.

@excthour the existence of good and evil means there is such thing as morality. Therfore there must be someone who provides these laws. That someone is God. There couldn’t be such a thing as morality without God. Just because bad things happens does'nt make God evil.
alliealliethedog 5 months ago
@lmurtha1 I cannot force myself to believe something I don't think is true, simply on the basis of fear. I need to have a reason to believe your proposition is true to accept it. I wouldn’t be atheist if I actually believed you now would I? If you believe in absolute truth then you must have a standard by which to measure it. If God exists then he must make that standard perfectly clear, or else there is no means by which to measure absolute truth. Thus I couldn't begin to believe in God!
MannyXj1 6 months ago
@lmurtha1 I don't know if you've heard this before, but the problem with Pascal's Wager is that for it to work, you'd have to assume that EVERY god exists. Because if you accept the Christian God and it turns out that the ancient Greeks were right all along, you're just as screwed as an atheist. Unfortunately, accepting one god often makes it impossible to accept the others.
Svoig 6 months ago
Your existence is a Proof "God exists" ... Roger Penrose who is an atheist btw "the probability of the universe in which life exists = 10^10123" which makes it IMPOSSIBLE for universe to exists by chance or series of coincidences !!! this number tells you how precise the creator's aim must have been BUT you reject because God has given you the free will to chose out of his Mercy
jaddy316 6 months ago
@jaddy316 Seems like you cant find any information about this, that does not talk about a "creator", so finding the actuall thing he said about this would be interesting.
BUT, what you just said is a lie, 10^10123 does NOT mean its impossible. it actually mean it's POSSIBLE.
anyway, without the actuall text where Roger Penrose says that, and what factors he used when comming up with that calculation, your "explanation" of god is just as bad as any oher reason.

@DaFleegsta Being an atheist makes you feel good. It makes you feel good that you do not have rules to follow because there is not a supreme authority over you. You atheists contradict yourselves too much. I'm sorry, but the whole earth talks about a God.
andredid 6 months ago
@andredid No. Not being IGNORANT makes me feel good. And I DO have to follow rules, there ARE authorities over me (the government, police, parents, etc). I respect my community because I know that if we are cooperative we all benefit it (and therefor I benefit from it). If I do good things, good things are more likely to happen to me in return.
Theiststic beleifs are probably one of the most contradictory things on the planet.
The whole earth talks about god? Yes. Do we beleive in god? No.
DaFleegsta 6 months ago
@DaFleegsta where do you get what is wrong and what is right? and don't say that every person makes his own definition of good and evil
andredid 6 months ago
@andredid We evolved with the complex ability to recognize what we are doing and how it effects others and ourselves. We are also evolved with emotions, which are triggered based on what we have done. I feel bad when I think I've hurt someone. I feel good when I think I've helped someone. Morality was evolved, just like everything else that makes us.
DaFleegsta 6 months ago
@DaFleegsta but, why do feel good or bad? where did morality come from? cause if there is no God, then there is no good and evil, and no authority.
andredid 6 months ago
@andredid Shit.. Comment didn't post for some reason.. Oh well, here it is again:
People with bad morals died off as a result (due to retaliation from people with GOOD morals), unable to reproduce and pass on the 'bad moral gene'. People with GOOD morals actually managed to survive long enough to reproduce (cooperative communities contribute to individual survival) and continue the 'good moral gene'. Moral evolution is very similar to physical evolution. It's natural selection; basic evolution.

a) You might pick the wrong god.Theists have this assumption that it's "my religion or none", but there are thousands of faiths;
b) If you spend your life believing and worshipping and there is NO god, you've wasted the only life you're ever going to get deferring to the proscriptive nonsense in your respective holy book.
c) If your ONLY reason for believing is to "be on the safe side", god is going to KNOW.

IF there was a god, why is there war, unjust death, plague, and rape? Aren't we created in this image? If he's omnipotent mean he can do ANYTHING why hasn't he destroyed all evil and satan?
AkimboLizard 7 months ago
@AkimboLizard Because he gave us a free will, he doesn't run our life, we make our own decisions.

@TheAtheistExperience AMEN!!!

Saying that a so-called "God" exists is like denying gravity.

TheAtheistsExperience, Atheists, so you basically are saying that you do not have an idea if god exists or not?

When I didnt believe I had no reason no to do things and I was verey bad and did horrible things thanks be to God or rather The power of my faith in god my life has took a major turn in the right Direction. So my Faith worked for me my unbelief didnt. but hey whatever works for you good for you keep it up but God works for me it soesnt mean I am an idiot or telling you youre going to hell because my understanding
MrKylej1985 7 months ago
Its really not very smart to say either athiest are right or christians because it is both unknown. What seperates christians from athiests for me is that my Faith in God has helped me overcome some things in Life because now that I believe in God He has transformed my heart
MrKylej1985 7 months ago
by the long list of responses to my comment, it rationally seems that you are all stubborn .

@lmurtha1 So if I don't think there is a god even if I do good my hole life I deserve to hell wow that thinking is messed up.
lexie2795 7 months ago
@lexie2795 Satan created Hell. Good deeds dont get you into heaven. But believing in that Gods son Jesus died for you, and living for him will. You can NOT not sin. thats why he died for you, to wipe away your death sentence in a nutshell. There are many"holy" people that go to church and do good and are still on a path to hell, because they dont live for God, its a front.Im not pushing faith on you, just letting you know where i stand and hopefully one day you will be there too.
