Barubary/Barbary/Barbaroi was one of the earlier examples of a "honourable villain" in RPGs. Think about it, he spares Ryu as a kid and then he gives Ryu a chance to fight him one-on-one. He even gives Ryu a reward for beating him. Barubary should've been the final boss: I can imagine getting to Deathevan and Barubary kills him.

With a correct English translation, his name probably would have been Barbary, which is a referrence to Barbarians, and is the name of a coast in Africa often associated with pirates.

Interestingly, in the ending he's still translated as Barbaroi

And Katt is still translated as Rinpu, Bow is Bosch

Basically the ending credits were amazingly well translated, it's just the rest of the game they forgot about
