  • the edge is an innovator, and a genius of music, masterful, one of the best to ever play

  • Guys , listen: ..i agree that it is beautiful , but when it comes to "The best guitarists" ,cant count edge in them , not in the top 1000..his songs are all about effects , he is technically waay below many rock legends like Malmsteen , Vai , Blackmore , Satriani , Hammet, Michael Angelo, Slash , Page , Lukather , on and on and on ..( i can throw names till the morning..

  • @pp152152 when you play an instrument, you should have a good technique,no doubt. but if you want to make music, you should have more than technique. there are so much elements you need to make a good song. The Edge is much better than a techniquefreak, because he brings songs with his guitarplaying alive.many, not all of his guitarparts and effects, are great, but he wrote several innovative songs which no one has ever written before. Edge is one of the best guitarists, but no the best.

  • Edge can steal your heart, hack your computer and play guitar Can you?

  • And, guess this is just another reason why U2 have won more awards than any other band on the planet - including the Beatles!

  • If you cannot appreciate this solo, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Anybody can turn up the distortion to 10 and shred.

  • why does everyone think that this guy is even remotly good at the guitar. he might as well be a bloody 5 year old with one finger compared to guitarists such as Hendrix, Angus Young, Van halen, Slash, Phil Campbell, Dave murray, Adrian Smith, Slash <------ and he's got a half decent name as well

  • @longie28 Because The Edge created a sound. He is a sonic soldier. Today many guitarist try to sound like him or steel his sound (Example: Coldplay guitarist) The Edge is an innovator on guitar.

  • @normanmadrid0076 Y the hell would you want to copy that for. i could get a better tone out of a fucking bowel movement

  • @longie28 because guitar isn't all about shredding.

Agreed, this solo can be played so easily. Even a beginner can learn this so fast.

The thing is, do you have what it takes to come out with this, or is all you know are scale shreds?

I'm a really big fan of iron maiden, Gnr, ACDC,

but i respect the edge as an innovator, and i think you should too.

  • @monkengregful i think you could suck a long sloppy turd

  • @monkengregful alright alright i can do more than shred scales K? i can tap like a mofo too :) lol jk but really k so basically the edge is good because he plays like he's in slow motion and that apparently makes him good. I mean even steve vai plays slow for a while in his solos but at least he has the ball busting skill to fuck up that fretboard when he wants to.

  • @longie28 Those are all totally different guitar players compared to U2 and the edge. Can not do such comparisons. You can compare an angus young to Hendrix or Slash to Van Halen. But the edge??? You would have to compare him with guitarist much like himself. Those like REM and INXS. Their type of music do not require such guitar shredding and technical skills. But music overall requires taste. Doing whats right for the song.

  • @causalityofbeing you can do something thats both good for the song but without having preliminary skills on the guitar i think that both angus young and slash domonstrate this very well as they aren't even widely technical compared to players like joe satriani and van halen but both show a lot more skill and even time in the solos and music than the edeg

  • @longie28

If you call Edge a 5 year old, Slash would be 2 year . Edge, Hendrix and Knopfler are in my opinion the 3 best . But even those 3 have different styles, you can't compare them . As for The Edge ; He never plays difficult solo's, but they always bring more value to the song . And he's not shy to experimate with modern technology's . If a solo has the right 'mood' it doesn't need complex tones . I think The Edge realises that ..

  • @bonavox11 i've seen less bollocks on my computer screen when i watched embarising bodies on it. Your basically saying that the edge is better than Slash because he has the right "mood" thats utter bullshite because Slash is probably the most well known for putting a get deal of emotion into his solos.

  • @longie28 That's not what I said . Edge ans Slash are both 'emotional' players if you wanne call it like that . I was just saying that Edge is more mature, he's an innovator and not afraid to use (and try out himself) modern technology's to improve (or create new sounds) .

Slash doesn't do that, he has a sound and stays with it .

  • @longie28 Hahaha you make me laugh, Slash is mainly known for making annoying tones and riffs. Sweet child o mine anyone?? One of the most irritating riffs of all time!

  • Absolutely the Emerald Islands Gem Forever!! TY Sin duda, la joya esmeralda Islas para siempre! TY

  • Snore.

  • thanks for posting this tiny little bit of my most treasured piece of music from U2. this never fails to get an emotional response from my soul every time I here it. it is something real and true. i can't explain it. but it feels so good.

  • a great guitar solo is not about making 23875047534 notes with sweeping and tapping ;)

  • it seems like Bono is the only one having fun here

  • best band alive

  • It's one of the things that some people will never understand. Music isn't about notes. Music is about emotion. This is why this simple piece of guitar playing is better than ultrafast tapping shit and wthings like that.

  • i can play this

  • The Edge can time travel. Can you?

  • The Edge isn't a guitar virtuoso, but he's brilliant at what he does; that is making U2 sound the way U2 does.

  • edge basically proves simplicity rocks too man! But, I also dig Malmsteens mojo too! He's a monster jammer dudes . . . there's room for everybody's likes in music so I can dig all styles . . . peace out peeps!

  • And I can tell everybody here that this song brings the Edge more emotions than ANY OTHER song!

  • If you play a solo on the guitar, it's not the most important thing to play many notes, or fast notes or whatever. It's about the emotion that lies in it. No emotion is a dead solo....;)

  • @elisdewaard1 No notes is a dead solo

  • @longie28

I didn't say there were no notes:) music is meant to be emotional dude. It can make you sad, happy, angry, loving, getting you in trance or whatever emotion. Edge chose the love:)

  • and not with the guitar

  • he have played it with his soul

  • @joaocoelho144 you are so correct sir!

  • "shut up" really well said, thanks dude.

  • Amazing song but not the best solo

  • @RockOfGreece shut up

  • @RockOfGreece its not about the speed or technacallity of the solo but rather the emotion and sound he brings out from the few notes he plays that's what the edge is known for and why he is regarded as a pioneer in rock.

  • @babysmockey

he never said anything about speed or technicality. It really is, just a lame solo. Do you play guitar? He has his fingers in about 2 or 3 positions, and plays arpeggios. you have to be shitting me.

  • @wakemeup277 yes i play guitar and i know its no where near the best solo of all time but likei said i like the sound he gets and thats why i like the edge for his sound

  • @wakemeup277 Not only do you not have to be a guitarist to understand and relate to this solo, The Edge's technique is not important. You fail on two levels. It is a MAGNIFICENT solo that fits the song perfectly. You just happen to not like it. Technique does not equal emotion.

  • I agree. There are so may guitar players that just do the same thing which is play fast. Its just boring. Where as the edge has his own style which is deep and rich. I love it when he plays this solo to one. He does not do it all the time live. He also does a great solo on rattle and hum for with or without you. The solos match the songs power perfectly. Great muscian

  • @swarmmaster - Its a very nice melody but i wouldn't call it a solo, i'd call it a riff. Edge plays this same riff every time at the end of one but don't get me wrong it is a beautiful song with a beautiful finish. A solo for the edge is something like Kite and Until The End of the World. Even then edge doesn't really solo as such. He makes riffs using effects unlike other guitarists that use effects to colour their guitar playing. A real guitar solo is something like Comfortably Numb.

  • @wakemeup277 God, I can't belive that people as stupid as you are can exist...
