It is called "Canned Laughter" where the writers think something is funny and should be laughed at. Since Laughter is contagious they slip in a little recorded laughter here and there and the next day everyone who watched the show says it was hilarious, though they can't exactly say why. After a while it gets overdone and fake sounding like in American shows from the sixties like "I Dream of Jeanie", "Bewitched", or "the Brady Bunch".
im a private chef and have discussions like this with salespeople all the time. of course not quite this brilliant!!! great stuff.. used to watch him.
"We have to cater for the wilder element in our society, you know people who eat soft-boiled eggs, people who drink tap water, people who spread butter on white bread! You know the reckless ones, the daredevils" Brilliant.
It was on for 3 seasons of 6 (plus the 1st season Christmas episode for a total of 19 episodes). I think they took 2 years off in between season 2 and 3.
Heh heh, good ol'Len. I remember seeing this from an episode of Chef on PBS years ago. Not only that, this scene makes me wanna go out and try some fine cheeses.
Yeah, as much as I adore "Chef," I have to say the third season suffered. Plus, I didn't get to see nearly as much of Caroline Lee-Johnson as I would have liked. A fine actress and beautiful, besides.

I watched and loved this show. To bad they don't still make this show. I always wondered if the concept of Hell's Kitchen came from Chef!

When did Chef! originally air btw? I seem to remember seeing it on PBS around 1990 or 1991 in the States, but it may have been later...

Clunk click every mouthful???!!!
Did Ainsley write this utter shite as well as make his acting debut? Or am i mistaken and its really Momo sissoko on garden leave?

"clunk clik" is a British colloquialism for putting on a seat belt. It's meant to be derogatory against seatbelt laws.

"THAT is Stilton. Halle-bloody-lulah. Cow and bug, in perfect harmony."
Couldn't agree more. Find the real stuff, don your condom, write out your will, and die happy.
(Oh, by the way, the first two seasons are all like this.)
