On this date in 1967 {Mar. 4th} "Western Union" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peaked at #3 and spent 12 weeks in the Top 100...
Ranked 58th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1967 chart...
The group performed the song on the TV shows; "The Steve Allen Show", "American Bandstand", and "Where The Action Is"...
first girl to move on the platform is the best. the rest are great too, but she's the best. greatest 12 second opening of a hit in TV history !!! Soooooooooo 60's
A place in time that society forgot . . . .when music was cool, groovy & innocent and lyrics were clean and people were pure and unspoiled . . . unlike today ~ how they serve our kids a bunch of FILTH where lyrics of gang-sta rap & hip hop- are full of profanity, recording artists are horny sexual beings portrayed in videos & pop stars are admired for getting into hot water with the law - WHAT kind of CRAPis that ??? Just another example of the deterioration of the very fabric that holds us up.
this is definately Upbeat when they took the show to Pam Beach for taping. The show had lost its original punch from when it was the Big 5 show in 1964 and then Upbeat in1966. Me being from NE Ohio i never missed a show. Thanks for all your upbeat postings.
Why diddn't they just film this on the Cleveland harbor? Haha. I guess that's not quite as cool as Palm Beach. But there are plenty of beautiful "beaches" on Lake Erie.
Actually it is Upbeat! I have a bunch of clips on a dvd with artists preforming around this pool with the host of Upbeat introducing the acts. I guess they wwent to Palm Beach for at least a couple episodes as this one seems to be called "palm beach party II".

In 1967, this band could perform live, not this usual dubbed ilk. They did this song
live on the Steve Allen television show. The clip was/is on YT. Enjoy!
