so apparently firebenders are also earthbenders, afterall the earth's inner core is still 'earth'. The avatar could control lava which came from the dense inner core of the earth.

@SanguineBullet667 lava is a combination of Earthbending and Firebending, as Kyoshi showed. I'd say an Earthbending master would have the edge, since lava is molten rock.
