  • I am with this Unit. First the Aircraft is a dark green not black. second they use a pink paint during fire season because there is another aircraft that flies over all these other helicopters called the observer aircraft. The observer aircraft needs to know who they are talking to and they are assigned a number. the pink paint shows up the best. trust me we have tried other colors.

  • @pac47man Pretty much after seeing the 60 and the chinook that day I have wanted to fly every day since. Working on getting in with UNR and seeing if im capable. One day soon hopefully..

  • I think my speakers are fucked, literally. :(

  • How does that dual rotor thing works? Is there any mecanism? Does anybody know?

  • @Korvan1993 The rotors are connected via a shaft with the front rotor being turned by the power of the rear engines.

  • Cameraman wash

  • that SUCKED! Why didn't you show the bucket getting reloaded - TARD!

  • annoying audio :D

  • AT the better car wash!

  • Again, a stunningly boorish lot of comments. Really, humanity, CAN YOU HEAR YOURSELVES? What a great load of idiots.

  • Those Chinooks are canadian made. BTW.

  • @Lukester132 Having actually worked on the assembly line that builds them I can safely say you are wrong. They might build a few small sub-assemblies, but not the whole deal.

  • Why so many dislike's??? Video is just what it say's it is!. Thumb's up!

  • BLOODY HELL MY MATE IN THE NAVY SAID THEY WERE LOUD AND HE WERNT JOKING AND ITS LOUDER INSIDE

  • they use the pink lettering for identification during military aid missions at least the corp does with our 53's if they need to use them for firefighting or whatnot

  • So this is a video about a tree blowin in the wind. Didn't bob dylan write a song about that.

  • One of the best jumps I ever had in the Military was out of a Chinook!

  • bucket looks very small compared to its size...

  • funny

  • kinda reminds me of the A team

  • @pineconecow Should have told that to the people underneath the tree is Staten Island.

  • Now thats a bird designed for power!

  • Stupidest video on YouTube.

  • It's a shame that the person holding the camera died trying to film this. RIP.

  • @KamikazeElvis why would they die?

  • @KamikazeElvis what?

  • I could hear the propellor wash but could not feel the wind from my chair here.

  • the chinook sounds like my uncle in the bathroom

  • @BearistheWord damn taco bell and their food!!!lol

  • wuut ?

  • I work at a helicopter repair facility and I have been on the heliport with one of these things airbourne. I think it's about a 70MPH downdraft coming off these things.

  • @andyknight1 Yeh it is, as a weapons system operator i work on these things daily, fucking bastard if ur underneath them haha

  • ???

  • sometimes a chinook will come do some traing ing at the airport i fly from and when the land we have to tie the planes down cuz the chinook will tip 'em easily.

  • I mean really who paints thei chinook black and pink.

    lol.

    USA's new stealth colours.

    ;)

  • reason is becuz when you fight fires they cant always see the tail number so the paint the side with washable paint to make how loads of water the hooker brought. and from a distance you can see it. always dirrents colors

  • @ImTheMightyOne haha :L but, did you know, pink is actually a good camouflage in the air? true stuff. :D

  • @ImTheMightyOne actually, light pink has been tested as a substitute for the normal grey and is actually very hard to see against the sky

  • @ImTheMightyOne probably they are femal pilots thats why its pink and black..

  • @ImTheMightyOne Breast Cancer awareness sponsored by the US Navy!

  • I drink at the pub with a bunch of

SAR techs who love the CH47, so do the people they find and save with them

They will fly their CH47 in weather that I would never consider flying in and

Im flying a Turbo Beaver a very stout plane its self but not as tough as those Chinooks.

  • Now I know why this type of chopper was tagged with the name "Chinook." Them rotors put down a mighty amount of wind!

  • I remember watching a rescue program. It MIGHT have been "Rescue 911". I'm not sure. But I do remember THIS vividly. They were airborne. Then something happened, & the pilot yelled, "Rotor wash!" Then the helicopter went down FAST! Everyone was shaken, but they were o.k. What IS a rotor wash, & why does it cause the heicopter to go down SO fast?

  • It is called "settling with power". A heli in an out of ground effect (high) hover, or a steep approach can sink into its own turbulance as turbulant air produces no lift. The only way to correct, is basically to dive forward into clean air, but this requires altitude and time. Since settling usually happens in steep approaches near the ground. The results are usually not fun.

  • OH! Thank yu VERY much! It makes sense now! :o)

  • afffff

  • MAH BUKKIT!

  • ROFL yea... CH46 was better... that's why the CH46 started later & is now retired, whereas the Chinook (CH47) is still in active service.

The Chinook is faster, has longer range, can lift more, and requires one less crew member than the CH46.

Oh and each single engine in a Chinook has the same power as both of the engines in a CH46 combined.

CH46 better? ROFL You are so full of shit...

The Chinook is a beautiful aircraft. Too bad we can't hear the wonderful engine sound properly in this vid.

  • you, my friend, actually know what you are talking about... me thinks someone has actually either worked on, or flown a CH-47. So tell me, how was it? I am about to change my MOS to 15U and hoping to go 153A in the next few years to fly these beautiful flying busses.

  • cool

  • that hook is probably from ft rucker flight school the large letters/numbers just make for easier id

  • the ch-46 is better than that hunk a junk

  • The UH-1 and the Ch-46 have something in common. They were both the first American choppers that were turbine powered. Other than that they are dusty old dino's. R.I.P. 50's tech...

  • Im sorry how many time has the 47's aft pylon caught fire? oh ya that right NONE!

  • stupid video

  • Comment removed

  • io la pianterei

  • ... wow an helicopter! -.-

  • wow an elioper

  • They have the best surviability of anyother airframe. Its also the fastest rotory wing aircraft in the inventory

  • the british lynx is the fastest aircraft, but maybe you we're talking just about american aircraft

anslo why the fuck is this oen painted pink

  • u mean the fastest helicopter...

  • yeah my bad

  • np man i didnt even know the British Lynx till i saw ur comment ;)

  • The G-Lynx set the world record but the one the army use it not nearly as fast

  • Why do Chinook Helicopters crash so easily? Are the hard to fly? I seen so much crashes of these planes.

  • You are probably thinking of the CH-46 Sea Knight as the "crashing one" which is a similar dual mainrotor design. The CH-46 Seaknight has three landing gear instead of Chinook's four, making it more tippy when it lands. Chinooks actually don't crash as much and are quite reliable. Sea Knights are always landing at sea, though, on assault ships which rock in the water.

  • I'll be sad when Chinooks are phased out. Perhaps they will be revived once people in our military realize how awesome they are at what they do.

  • My squadron had 2 crashes in 2 years back in the day, and none of it had to do with the landing gear. Pilot error inone, and bad deck handlers and launch control in the other

  • :( they're beautiful machines--how were the crew? Were there any losses on those two seaknights?

  • you say helicopters and planes what are they

  • Big Windy is in Germany.

I do especially love the hot pink that fire control splashes all over the airframes.

Anyone know which fire this was?

  • hawkins fire

  • power? the osprey uses the same engines that a c130 does. it has plenty of power.

  • how do you know? ever worked on one? i have.

  • you dont know how bad rotorwash can be unless youve been under a mv22

  • can you breath there?

  • Fully loaded (that's a 2000 gallon bucket) we generate about 250 mph winds. That's why they call her Big Windy. BTW, that helicopter is based out of Stockton, CA. Bravo Company 1/126th Aviation.

  • haha, it does have a noticeable power difference compared to the other ones that were dipping there, it knocked some trees down. its good stuff tho

  • i have been in a flight in a chinook for 3 hours and we done a lot of tricks from RAF Odiham

  • @harrytgoat i live in stockton weston ranch and i can a couple of these during school

  • @harrytgoat I live in stockton.. I always see you guys flying around
