I'll do my typical letters, voting, emails etc. Do I expect anything to happen? No. Has it ever? Pretty much no. Now if we all got together and just walked off the job (ALL jobs) tried to form our own cities (or maybe take those we live in) things might change. What can I do? I can give people my libertarian perspective. Not force it down their throats, of course, but state my case. It works fairly well in most situations. Though, that might just be because none of my friends are as well-read in politics as I am. It always gives me a kick when someone says my only source of information is Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh.
The way I do it is by by saving in Gold and Silver. I deny the government inflationary funding by not letting them rob me of purchasing power of my savings. It's small but its all I can really do. I also try to spread the message around.
Actions taken in USA by government entities, businesses & individuals are driven by financially based decisions. Want something? Buy it, if you have money. No money? Go without, or get someone else to buy it for you (food stamps, welfare, subsidies, etc). Few decisions & actions are truly driven by moral/ethical principals in USA. Species die off, more cars are purchased, air/water/land are polluted, oil companies get gov't funds. Voting & religion pacify under-educated & stupid taxpayers.
As an outsider I have to say I think you need to scrap all the organs of government and start again. You have to solve the following problems:
1. too much money is spent on political campaigns.
2. the president has too much power.
3. the US is effectively a 2 party state (almost as bad as a 1 party state).
4. you vote for too many offices! voting in a DA for example does not give you more democracy just a DA who has to worry about pleasing the people more than doing his job.

Democracy in the USA is a joke - for the important things, those things which really matter to the elite, there is no choice. Health care doesn't seem to be good no matter what side of the border or which country people are living in. Even in Canada's health care system, there are long wait lists which doesn't do any good for people who need to get operations or some other medical emergency tended to. It seems people are expected to either pay a whole lot of money in order to survive or have health care paid for through taxes but still be put on long waiting lists that can go on for who knows how long anyway good video

On the state tax issue: you only have to pay the taxes of the state you reside, own property, or do business in. You can vote with your feet if you find a state with a better deal.

This money used to 'aid' is borrowed the government borrows it at a low amount of interest and in 40 or 50 years there will be a high interest. So in actual fact the cuts do have to be made. But that money was never property of the US citizen to start with.

As an outsider I have to say I think you need to scrap all the organs of government and start again. You have to solve the following problems:
1. too much money is spent on political campaigns.
2. the president has too much power.
3. the US is effectively a 2 party state (almost as bad as a 1 party state).
4. you vote for too many offices! voting in a DA for example does not give you more democracy just a DA who has to worry about pleasing the people more than doing his job.

Democracy in the USA is a joke - for the important things, those things which really matter to the elite, there is no choice. Both parties support Israel unconditionally, there is no one to vote for if you object. Both parties support bailouts, there is nobody to vote for if you object. A free country doesn't put people behind bars for using marijuana, or any drug for that matter. Cigarette smoke has arsenic and cyanide in it, but cigarettes are legal. Health care doesn't seem to be good no matter what side of the border or which country people are living in. Even in Canada's health care system, there are long wait lists which doesn't do any good for people who need to get operations or some other medical emergency tended to. It seems people are expected to either pay a whole lot of money in order to survive or have health care paid for through taxes but still be put on long waiting lists that can go on for who knows how long anyway good video

On the state tax issue: you only have to pay the taxes of the state you reside, own property, or do business in. You can vote with your feet if you find a state with a better deal.

Hugo Chavez isn't really such a bad guy, compared to most other nations' leaders.
Actually, I'd say Hugo Chavez is actually a pretty cool guy. Elected by the majority people. Educating the poor about their constitutional rights.
He survived a government takeover(CIA coup) from the country's higher class and army probably influenced by the CIA which also funds the several networks in his country apposed to him.
He's kind of a second Castro, just not surrounded by as many guns.

Here's the deal as I see it. When people get pissed off enough something will be done. They clearly aren't pissed off enough yet. How do I know this? Just look at the membership in the two biggest political parties in the US. Now look how many votes are cast for a Democrat or Republican. See my point? When people are fed up they will vote for members of other parties on mass if for no other reason than to try something new.

All of American action in the Middle East is based heavily on protecting Israeli interests and as a result that official 3 billion given to Israel (which is much less than the actual amount we give to them) is only a small part of the cost of Israel support that the American people must bear.

Apart from the 3,000,000,000 the US Government (ie the taxpayers) gives every year to Israel (mostly in weapons) we also pay for Israel because a large number of multinationals (eg Coca Cola, Nestle, Starbucks) make donations which are added to the price we pay for goods,

This money used to 'aid' is borrowed the government borrows it at a low amount of interest and in 40 or 50 years there will be a high interest. So in actual fact the cuts do have to be made. But that money was never property of the US citizen to start with.

You've a rather simplistic view of US foreign policy. America does nothing unless it benefits America, there's no altruism, not even in famine relief etc. You gotta look at the bigger picture, America's Quest for Global Dominance. Which, incidentally, is not a bad thing. Look at it this way, in 100 yrs time the worlds population will either be sticking its collective ass in the air five times a day for Allah or waddling breathlessly down the street in search of another Big Mac :-)

Don't support the multinationals.
Donate to reputable charities. Engage in barter whenever and wherever possible. Do your shopping for clothing, furniture, electronics, etc. at THRIFT STORES. Build your own computer from spare parts (as I've done for years.) Save as much as you can in a tax-sheltered IRA or Keogh plan. Stop eating garbage and spend a little time growing at least SOME of your own food, and stop eating out, period. Walk or bicycle, whenever possible, and leave the car at home.

Money is basically numbers and symbols on paper whose only real power is collective belief. What happens if the belief falls apart? And what if how much money one has doesn't truly matter but what does matter is how you relate to it? Lack of fear over money is where true freedom lies and freedom is purely a state of the mind and the emotions. Fear over money is fear for survival and truth be told...Nobody gets out of this place alive. So the focus on money fears as survival is pointless.
