  • I hit it about 10 times...it wouldn't come off..then I got my neighbor who is a man, he gave it one good whack and it came off. THANK YOU! You saved me the towing fee :-) :-)

  • @kilroywashere123 I'm glad you got the tire off. Thanks for the comment!

  • I just kick the top of the tire with my heel. works every time.

  • @ShaTR2 This way works every time too.

  • On the 17" summer rims, about how much would those cost? I'm not a big fan of the basic 16's.

  • @ahelingerbmw1 The winter rims were $300 with the tires. The summers might be a bit more since they are nicer rims.

  • @edzgarage Right, I figured as much. Thank you!

  • I had never encountered the stuck tire before tonight. Was trying to help another guy out. Got the car jacked up and the lugnuts off, but then couldn't get the tire off. I was baffled. Even tired a google search to see if there was something special about the particular models tires. I guess this doesn't happen too often or that everyone just knows what to do when it does, cause I couldn't find any information on it. Even this video wasn't high up on the youtube results. Thanks for the info.

  • @WoWDart Thanks for the comment!

  • Had a stuck tire, came inside and watched this. Worked perfectly, thanks for the tip!

  • @goodbyegalaxy Thanks for the comment!

  • I would never recommend anyone to tighten lugs back on with an impact wrench. Sure if you've done it a enough times and have a feel for specific torques, it can be ok. But the reality is the average person would over tighten the lug, which in the long run is generally bad for the studs (unless you're using torque sticks) I recommend manually putting the lugs nuts back on and torquing it to spec with a 1/2" drive torque wrench.

  • @acuna13 Agreed. If you noticed the ending we used a hand wrench to check the tightness.

  • Wish I had watched this an hour ago!! Thanks for the great tip!!

  • @gubmint Thanks for the comment!

  • Can any one tell do I need a spare tire for my bmw e46 320d manufactured on january 2004, because I just bought it and it doesen't have a spare tire.

I wanna know if it runs on flat or not...thank you

  • @123arttt Take a look at what it says on the tires currently on your vehicle. Tires that are Run Flat WILL say RUN FLAT. If it does not say that then it is an ordinary tire.

  • How can I ensure the nuts are tight and up to specification? How much torque do I need?

  • @rockstepcoasterstep If you have doubts get a torque wrench. The manual has the torque spec. Thanks for the comment!

  • @edzgarage Thanks for reply. Just wonder if is ok to put some kind of anti-corrsion compound between the aluminium and steel contact area. I don't have a young guy like you to slam the rim with a heavy tire.

  • @rockstepcoasterstep Try some anti-seize it might help.

  • very nice :D first look is a bit bad but it works !

  • @3103Bo Thanks for the comment!

  • And buy a torque wrench...

  • @Br3ach And get a life!!! LMAO!!

  • Next time use jack stands!

  • @Br3ach LMAO!!!!! Next time say PLEASE!!!

  • Thank u soooo much for posting this video! I have a low profile tire that I had to replace, and had the hardest time taking it off at the side of the freeway! I was stumpped! However I checked out ur video, and the it was like a piece of cake! Thank u!!!

  • @vmc114601 Thanks for comment!

  • Very helpful, The hub on my jetta wheel was extremely rusty, no amount of Beating with a Hammer and wood block or kicking the tire/rim would even get it to wiggle, spent about 30 beating on it before checking out your video, 4 min later my tire was free! Thank you very much and keep posting your informative videos!

  • @Thdirty I glad this method worked for you! Thanks for the comment!

  • I was on freeway 102 degrees and you video helped me pop off tire. Thanks

  • @Jalepino24 Great! I'm glad you were able to use the video to help you out. Thanks for the comment!

  • You did a good job. Do you have a video on how reset the brake light on 2003 bmw

  • @Jalepino24 If the break light is on you have to replace the sensor. Checkout my brake replacement video for details.

  • thanks for the vid, good to know this type of info

  • @iHateFattPeople Thanks for the comment!

  • A enourmos thanks to u guys!

  • @mariamali94 Thanks for the comment!

  • I couldn't get this to work any other suggestions

  • @LaDyGreEn4569 You have to hit the tire really hard with the spare.

  • Thank you very much for your perfect solution. I went to google some info and found out that it is useless. Thank god I found this video. Really appreciate it. Good job and great video :)

  • @ayumi2668 Thanks for the comment!

  • omg, my little sister's bmw had a blowout and i drove out to change it in the arizona heat which is just at 100 right now (but it feels hotter) and i watched this vid on my droid. hitting the tire with the spare worked great! i had no idea why the tire wouldnt come off! thanks a ton for the help :)

  • @tytrr321 That's great to hear. I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for the comment!

  • thanks, this video helped me a lot!!!

  • @dhfshfsidhf Thanks for the comment!

  • thanks much

  • @tobin999 Thanks for watching!

  • faster way go to your local mechanics shop and usually they will do it for no charge

  • @xXxchipperchopperxXx I guess it would be faster if a shop is near you, but some people still like to get their hands dirty doing this type of work themselves.

  • You saved my life!!! That method of using the spare to hit it against the stuck tire is a life saver. Thank you. All other sites said to drive around until it's lose and we just didnt want to risk that.

  • @columbalivia Great, I'm glad you tried my method. Thanks for the comment!

  • Shouldn't Masteroutdoorsman be wearing gloves for hand protection??

  • @jp6364 Maybe, but that's really up to the mechanic. Some never wear gloves and some always do.

  • My brother called me while he's on the side of the road stuck with a flat, and I watched this video and saved him hahaha Thanks!!!!

  • @mud160 That's great! Thanks for the comment!

  • just give it a hard kick thats all

  • @hp11208 But when that doesn't work... try my way.

  • You are god, I tried loosening it half way, drive back and forth like other sites suggested, didn't work, I gave up. Then I came here to check, I went back outside, took about 5 slams with my other tire, but it worked!

  • @Krakilin0405 Thanks for the comment! I'm glad it worked for you, it's always worked for me.

  • Thanks for the tip! Any recommendations on how much anti-seize compound to use?

I've also heard that another way to loosen stuck rims is to jack the car up, loosen the lug bolts slightly (but keep them all in place). Then lower the vehicle and roll it forward a bit until the rust bond breaks.

  • @ohtwo I use enough anti-seize to coat the surface. I've heard of that method of breaking a stuck tire loose. I've never tried it though. Thanks for the comment!

  • thanks for the little trick, i changed my tires first time today. The problem i had with them beeing stuck, all good thanks to you guys ;).

  • @space4092 Your welcome! Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks for the trick to take them off. I have a 1994 BMW 318i and I needed to put my summer tires to my winter tires but they were stuck on. I am a college student and couldnt really afford to pay a professional. Anywho your video helped big time so Thanks BIG TIME!

  • @Jvigs1 Thanks for the comment! 94 318i is a nice car.

  • Im going to be changing my tires today to winter ones.. is it required to have them balanced each time they are installed?? if anyone can answer that?

  • @samhainMD No, it's not required. If they were in balance before you took them off they should be okay still.

  • Thank you so much you saved me. In the middle of the cold nite i got a flat and I tried everything to remove the stuck tire nothing helped till I looked up your video and saw your tip to use the other tire. Wow thanks eveyone tried to help no know what to do I even had a guy hammer the rim. Thank you!

  • @PaceyPimp Thanks for watching and I'm glad my vid helped you out!

  • Thanks for the video. BMW tires are sometimes a pain to remove, but hitting it or driving it back and forth do the trick. However, try hitting the tire, with that same intensity u did at 1:58, while using the default jack that come with the car and chances are the car will fall off from the jack.

  • Thanks for the comment! You are right, the OEM jack is junk!

  • hmm not bad but using a air gun on aluminium not a great idea, i would also use some copper on the wheel nuts and use a torque wrench.

  • Thanks. The air gun is set low to avoid damage to the aluminum rim, and we always come back and tighten by hand after. If you know what your doing a torque is not required. Copper anti-seize was applied to the lugs and the mating surfaces.

  • I don't understand... Your putting on SUMMER tires made for warm temperatures in Winter? What is the rush.. Winter tires are not just for snow but cold temperatures... Once the temperature goes beyond..41-43 then you can put 4 seasons. Summer tires...are dangerous in cold temperatures.. ( I must think you are not satisfied with your winters..get the Nokian high performance winter..and you will enjoy driving) I have runflatt on my e90..and the 16 tire..is stable.(sidewall firmness of 18 )

  • No, this video was shot in March 2009. I was removing the winter tires and putting on the summer (warm weather) tires. The winter tires were all season tires and they worked great in the cold. The summer tires are well suited for the summer and are give excellent warm weather performance.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • nice video so helplful with the oil change and changing tire problem! absolutely genius way to take off the tire because that part was so hard! *subscribes*

  • anti-seize on the rotor hub helps to reduce the chance of seizing between the rotor hub & wheel. Great tip though on using the spare.

Also, with alloy wheels, after you drive them say, about 10-20 miles, double check the torque on the lug nuts/bolts. They do tend to loosen up initially

  • Thanks for the comments!

  • Nice U re great dude!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video it's help a lot. Before this video i couldn't take off rear tires for rotation. But i after this video trick work like a charm. Thanks a lot u guys great help, nice video

  • I'm glad it helped! Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks for the comment. Having an extra set of tires for the winter does make driving a bit easier.

  • Nice video and nice car! Good call on changing tires. My 325i can be a little tricky in heavy snow!
