I remember my classmates & OB's of St. Joseph's College, Layibi! Odama, Oyuko, Olal Bilal (Mutoto ya Anyeke), Ocen, Adriano Otim, Joseph Esanyu (RIP), Brig. Walter (RIP), Okello, Bob Otto...............!!!!
Whither gone he saxaphone in the contemporary African music? Saxaphone is the missing link. I miss sig-tunes, refrains and melodies that only sax can incarnate
@Nedjadist You know why saxophone was banned by Cuban revolutionaries. Talking about that instrument in any music associated with black music is not very politically correct. It is like having Africans dressing like cowboys and listening to country music .
At their peak these guys ruled the airwaves from Congo to Nbi.OK jazz by then was a shadow only to emerge after the demise of Lipua lipua, veve, kamale ,Kiam,Shamashama .Its no coincidence none of the great musicians,Nyboma,Verckys ,Vata mombasa,Mbuta Benanzo never featured in OK Jazz though i stand to corrected.
Nyboma and Pepe never played any instruments. The soloist here is Santana Mongoley, "monga monga mongoley". He now lives in the UK. The man still has the ability to make the guitar talk in a mysterious way. He is one amazing guitarist; extremely talented. Nyboma is with Kekele, and Nzaya Nzayadio is making more music, solo, in England. No other band will equal these guys
@Tintoller Very well informed Tintoller. Does Kekele have a resident club in the England? deekeyish: OK went low for different reasons (Congo Colossus). With the government authenticity push to include Music, the older generation (exc Tabu. Ley) struggled to abandon the European brass and steel instruments. The Impetus for Cavacha, Zaiko etc success must be attributed to Ray Lema's research bureau which banned all foreign music in Zaire for 5 years-replicate that for your sugar industry
The UNSUNG HERO of African music NYBOMA are one of the true music legend of African music LONG LIVE WHERE-EVER YOU ARE.... you will alawys be the unseen visitor in my home, my children's homes and there generations.

One of the best songs ever recorded during the Golden Seventies. Thanks for posting it. Keep up the good work brother.
