  • hahahahahahahaha

  • Ladies and gentlemen! I present... *timp. roll* atonal music!!!

  • Let's face it: It's not music, though, is it?

  • WTH?...why??...lol stop it OMG ROFL.

  • hahaahahaahahahahaahahahahahahaha this is something what vic reeves and bob mortimer would do

  • this is what the Beatles saved western music from, as told by Howard Goodall

  • what in the fuck are y'all doing?

  • Thanks. You made my ears hurt. I think this is exactly the reason any random sounds should not be allowed to qualify as music.

  • весело)

  • Sounds like you guys were having a farting contest lol

  • Hydraulist, is there any way you can post another video of just the Plasmaphone?

  • Долбоебы

  • ????? Mr Johnson we need security in the Men's bathroom, we need SECURITY in the Men's bathroom immediately.. out ****

    *** roger that Nancy

  • what the hell is the fucked up shit. i feel like i just got mind warped into a telekinetic ice cream cone.

  • NO MORE CURRY FOR ME!!

  • what the hell are you weirdos doing

  • what an interesting school you have

  • oh everyone in this video is so alternative

  • @ButterscotchsMirror

No, they're the earlier equivalent of "alternative," they're "experimental jazz."

  • how did that plasmaphone work?

  • I would be very concerned if I heard that coming out of the stall next to me!

  • this is amazing.

do the score for a horror movie why don't you.

  • at first i was like woah, but when the camera turned to the other people in the bathroom also playing along, my impression was ... what the fuck!?

  • i love experimetal instruments, though i didn;t particularly like this performance because, even though you have the sounds together, you're not making a coherent song. Left apart is the discussion on what is to be regarded as song, so filosofy apart, this really sounded crappy.

  • very interesting, that brain girl thing is very gothic... I don't know whether to scared or laugh.

  • Who's giving you permission to do all of this, anyway?

  • It stinks. I'm glad it didn't last long..

  • it sound like shit hahaha ur at the good place

  • I love music... I'm a music major in college... but that sounded...... weird :/

  • It was...interesting.

  • beaucoup d'amour de montréal.

    j aime la musique contemporaine.

    je veux un plasmaphone.

    merci

  • Um, what's with the brain power thing? lol brain music? -_-

    I'm almost died of laughter

  • how does the plasma ball make that noise? it's super creepy.

  • It's not just an ordinary plasma ball, it's a newly invented, patent-pending musical instrument available from FUNtain (the same Canadian company that manufactures hydraulophones).

  • that is sooooo cool plz do it again

  • this is the best fucking thing ever

  • This actually has potential

  • great!

  • this is astounding. Water instruments seem perfect for atonal stuff. Ace!

Any recordings of this anywhere? And is this actually a (presumably wildly aleotoric) piece, or is it just improvised?

  • Any recordings?... I'm pretty sure this is a joke, even if it is sort of a dry humor type one.

Regardless, you could just record the audio with a program and then convert it to mp3.

And if you try to say this is art, I will assume you are trying to sound pretentious. This is coming from a guy who most people would say has rather pretentious music taste.

  • yeah, you COULD, but what kind of audio quality would that give? It'd be terribly compressed, and I wouldn't be happy doing it, with all the background noise.

As for whether this is art or not - I'm amazed discussions like this still have to take place. Of COURSE it is. What else would it be? What, you think they just stumbled into a toilet and starting fiddling around with things and there just happened to be a camera? Nuh uh. This is planned, it is creative expression, and it is art. Cheers.

  • Half a dozen musicians cramped into a public bathroom with a handful of pipes, a plasma ball and a leaky toilet. What more could you ask for?!

  • uhhh so how is this interesting? what the heck was on the girl's head

  • This states-of-matter quintet was later chosen to perform at the big music conference, ICMC 2007, as the main "immersed" conference-themed performance. It seems like it's of interest to the music community. Search ICMC 2007 immersed. The headworn apparatus is a quintephone, a musical instrument that operates in the 5th element (informatics) beyond solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.

  • Words escape... Interesting vid! (C:

  • Well, Don't Forget. Hydraulophone Can Be Liquid, Too! =D

  • What Is the Fingering For The Plasmaphone? And What Are The Wavelinks For The Quintephone??

  • Where can i get a plasmaphone

  • They're manufactured by the same company that makes the hydraulophones. Contact:

    consulting(at)funtain(dot)ca

  • I like the sound of the plasmaphone.

    What is it exactly?

And where can I get one?

  • Plasmaphones are musical instruments that produce sound by matter in the fourth state-of-matter.

  • Plasmaphones are manufactured by a Canadian company called FUNtain

  • .ca

  • what sound is the brain-machine-interface making?

  • For the brain-machine interface by itself, listen to deconcert.avi which you can get from a Google search.

  • hahaha you wierdos.

    love it

  • wow this is sooo cool. but it sounds terrible. you need to collaberate with some seriouse musicians.

  • I don't care what everyone thinks, Band in a Toilet is way better than the backstreet boys.
