Of course! Looking at Alfred's anguished face and daft expression only works once not cutting back to it a second time and the many gulps of coffee is too much in a film that is already very long. I think it works as the final cut but I am very happy to have seen the extra footage even if I personally don't think it works.

Yeah, the way they edited the constant coffee-sipping, then the cup is gone....then suddenly he's drinking it again out of nowhere is funny- in a subtle kind of way.
