I love their songs, Samuth, sothea, Ron, Math, Yeng, Nary and other part famous singers and musicians. May god bless them and wishing their souls asleep
I praying for them too. Their physical beings may have been gone but their spirits and beautiful work live on. Their honest work and talents transcend death, time space continuum! Peace
pkving, if you know what happen in their political ideals, then maybe you will understand the fact about Vite. You see, Mr. Pol Pot is with the viet, at early years of his movement and his revolutionary war. You see, at that time Indochina was colonized by the France.
Yes that is correct, infact most of the revolutionaries were indoctrinated in Hanoi and then "released" back into Cambodia prior to the KR era: Hun Sen, Heng Samrin, Pen Sovan, etc. Most of them, regrettably are still in power now, and unfortunately are not serving Khmers interests but the interests of others, their "Masters."
the communist laotians were also indoctrinated in hanoi, but they didnt commit a genocide against their own people the laotian people.
WHY'S THAT??
hun sen, heng somrin, pen sovan, etc were former khmer rouge who opposed & revolted against the genocide, & had 2 flee 2 vietnam 2 escape the bloody hands of your buddy pol pot. they're in power bcoz they're elected by the cambodian people.
Although not as big of a genocide as the Khmer Rouge, the Lao communists committed the same acts towards their own people. They went as far as executing most if not all of their royals. Now the policy has been shifted towards eliminating the Hmong minorities, and this includes woman, children, elderly, etc..
if they aint as big of a genocide, then they cant be the same acts (as genocide).
executin' royals aint as bad as executin' the entire population, far from it.
besides, it may even be good, at least if it were in cambodia. the cambodian monarchy was a dictatorial & corrupt institution.
the communist laotians allegedly are tryin' 2 eliminate the hmongs. the khmer rouge actually tried 2 eliminate the entire cambodian people, includin' the khmers. so, what can one say??
The point is the KHMER people still voted out the CPP. The Vietnamese seeing that they were losing a grip on the political influence, resorted to violence and supported the 1997 coup that killed not only many royalists but many innocent Khmer lives. At that time the main political parties were either the royals, the Khmer Rouge or the Vietnamese installed CPP.
- either you never lived in the khmer rouge regime as a grown-up person, & thus you aint know how hateful how barbaric how cruel how atrocious how murderous they were,
I hate to assume but I figure that you were one of those who had lived through the regime and are clueless on the political scene. Im assuming that you think its all Solath Sar to blame?
I believe lower level cadres such as Hun Sen and the likes did, they are the definition of "mass-murder." Look at them now, do you think they are working for our nations interest? Just because Cambodia is being developed by these puppets doesn't mean the Khmer people are getting anything out of it. They just modernizing for the implementation of immigrants from next door. Champa & Lao are good examples of history repeating itself.
i'm also concerned about the rumor that there are millions of vietnamese immigrants in cambodia. elsewhere on the net i urge the cambodian government 2 stop vietnamese immigration & 2 repatriate those who came illegally.
as 4 the cause of this immigration, i aint think it's political, i think it's purely economic. compared 2 cambodia, vietnam lacks natural resources. the poor vietnamese move 2 cambodia in the
if that were true, they would have lost their positions years ago against the royalist party in the mid 90's because the Cambodian people voted them out. Hun Sen was ordered by Hanoi to hold onto power at all cost because they were proven to be very loyal to Vietnam.
in that 1 past election (b4 the last 1), they may or may not have lost 2 the royalist party. i aint know. i only heard that they have. however i aint like the royalist party. i aint like royals. royals must not be allowed in politics, just like in thailand or japan or the uk. the fact that sihanouk was both a royal & the political chief of state led 2 his dictatorship & the country's havoc. thus i shed no tears if the royalist party was stripped of their alleged election win.
In actuality, Vietnam had already swollowed Cambodia since 1979. pkving, it is one thing to show gratitude towards the Vietnamese but it is another to kiss their k'dut. Please have some dignity and be more logical.
i agree with the release date of 1966. could someone post the name of the lyricist and/or that of the songwriter? it's a case of giving credits where they are due. we have short memory haven't we?

What is to be Khmer? We have so much beautiful meaning in our culture and so much history behind the wall of Angkor Wat. Khmer live in our heart and mined. Please save the things that we have. Please don't let the Thai and Youn kill the culture of Khmer Angkor. Our ancestors fought for the freedom of Khmer and let us continue fighting for the same causes. Khmer live on...
vietnam never tries 2 kill khmer culture. au contraire it saves khmer culture:
- it gives freedom 2 the khmer kroms 2 preserve khmer culture,
- it accepted & thus rescued hundreds of thousands of cambodian refugees fleein' the killin' fields of pol pot durin' 1975-1979; i was 1 of them; they brought with them khmer culture includin' sin si samouth's songs,
- it kicked pol pot out of his killin' spree in 1979 & thus saved remainin' millions of cambodian lives.
- it accepted & thus rescued 100s of 1,000s of cambodian refugees fleein' the killin' fields of pol pot durin' 1975-1979; i was 1 of them; they brought with them & thus saved khmer culture includin' sin si samouth's songs,
- it kicked pol pot out of his killin' spree of cambodian people in 1979 & thus saved remainin' millions of cambodian lives & thus saves khmer culture from bein' extinguished by THE KHMER pol pot.
get rid of your fuc-kin barbaric hate & be rational.
- if vietnam didn't sacrifice 1,000s of its soldiers lives in 1979 2 kick pol pot out of power then pol pot would continue 2 kill the cambodians until no1 remains except the khmer rouge,
Sorry but that doesn't make up for the genocide and loss of Khmer Krom ethnics from the Vietnamese before Pol Pot era to the present day. Although I am grateful that they intervened, Im sorry to say that it was only for Vietnams personal benefit and not for the miserable Khmer lives at the time.
Wow, a very beautiful song. So romantic and captivating, this song definitely would melt any woman's heart. Thanks, Darren, for sharing this masterpiece by the second-to-none and one and only Khmer artist who has ever lived in our motherland. If he were alive today, I would travel to see him, wherever he is on this planet. Again, thanks a million for keeping his memory alive.

so do you say that the khmers chopped other khmers bcoz of foreigners??
so do you say the khmers chopped other khmers bcoz they followed orders of foreigners??
so do you say the khmers were so idiotic that they followed the order of foreigners to chop other khmers??
perhaps you're right. based on what you're sayin' now, you blame other nations 4 the khmers choppin' the khmers. thus the khmers were idiotic.

redboran,
i lived thru the regime only for 4 months, but i already witnessed its atrocities.
pol pot (solath sor), ieng sari, & khieu somphorn bear all the responsibility of the genocide.
assume you blame vietnam 4 bein' behind the genocide. then:
- were pol pot & co so silly that they followed the order of foreigners 2 commit a genocide against their own people??
- why did pol pot & co also mass-murder the ethnic vietnamese??
repeat: the genocide was caused by hatred.

sin si samouth = beatles + elvis of cambodia.
when i grew up in the 60s & was a youth in
the 1st half of the 70s in cambodia, he was
like the other half of the soul of every
cambodian, pure khemera or mixed race, male
or female, young or old, rich or poor.
now after bein' away from cambodia 4 more than 30 years, i still have him & undoubtedly will always have him in my soul.
