The fastest time in the US? Maybe in AAU, but not in each individual state. In 2009 track season our team in TN ran 1:26:24 and we werent even the fastest high school team in the country I think we were 4th overall nationally so if track has fallen off that much in 1 year that is sad to see. Also we were a random team that happened to go to the same school not some put together team like this crap. AAU is ruining HS sports. Just my 2 cents

The nicer facilities have banked tracks like this one.. and this relay team has multiple national high school records.. they'll wear whatever the hell makes them faster. Especially cause they are backed financially by Nicholas Sparks.. those suits aren't cheap.

It is made out of the best material a track can be made of, its called a mondo track. Mondo is an extremely springy rubber thats soft and fast. I know because I pole vaulted there in that track.

If you've run competitively on indoor tracks like this one and just about any outdoor track, you will understand very quickly why the times are slower. Very little maneuvering space, weird surface--your track shoes feel like suction cups--you don't uses spikes, hand-offs are much more difficult, etc.

@fadarrell- What you just posted is Olympic times, they dont translate to HS caliber athletes isnt as huge as professional athletes. The high school world record for outdoor is 1:23:31 out of fort worth texas the indoor is 1:24:62. One second difference. but good try. The guys here are fast but its AAU who cares there times are always off and bloated so the competition looks better. The same team running on an Olympic timer would probably drop a 1/2 a second or more.

all you gentlemen posting your OUTDOOR TIMES..they don't compare to indoor. INDOOR TIMES are always slower. This same team probably runs 1.25 1.24 OUTDOORS. Look at the crappy handoffs. Its due to the way the track won't allow max speed for transition. This will take off 2-3 secs. for high school athletes not used to the design of the track. It usually takes off 1.5-2 secs for those who are comfortable with it so yeah. I'm saying stop comparing your best outdoor times with an indoor performance
