From the title of the movie we know bond only has Quantum of Solace (Quantity/particular amount/large/share) of comfort in sorrow or something that gives comfort. What gave bond his Quantum of solace was the revenge for Vesper and learning the truth. This is what allows him to let go of vesper in the end which is symbolized by the dropping of the necklace.

For all of you who didnt understand quantum of solace, what basically happens is bond ins enraged and infuriated about the death of vesper. So in order to get revenge for her, he goes after green planet, the organization that was blackmailing her about her other boyfriend. When bond finds out that the boyfriend is actually behind all of this he goes after him taking down green planet. He goes after the guy because he is the reason MI6 had leaks, and because of that thats how it started in italy

If any of you complaining about the fact that Craig is blond actually picked up one of Flemming's novels you'd see that Craig's portrayal of Bond is actually a lot closer, Bond was generally cold and calculating. The initial "charm" that we began to associate with 007 was actually Sean Connery just doing his thing, which was great, but Casino Royale was made with the intention of taking the franchise back to the roots, and Craig plays that role with flying colors.
