One thing i find hard to understand is (don't get me wrong, i am not questioning the USMC's operations, i am simply making a comment about them) why do they just drive down a road in the middle of some random village IN IRAQ? that would be the perfect spot to lay down an IED and kill 2-3 infantrymen driving by.

I mean, i know you can't really identify an IED through binoculars, it just seems like charging into a hornet's nest blindfolded.

@rustysurfer87 1 US Marine dead, 2 US Marines wounded, 24 women, children, and a few man were shot and killed they had no weapons... 4 of the iraqi civilians were excuted on the street... the IED was planted by 2 man who were paid $1000 american dollars to set the IED off and film it! 8 marines were charged with mutiple murders 7-8 of the charges were dropped the last one was post-poned forever... i love the usa and i plan on joining the USMC but this is reality! accept it!

my god is this beginning clip so inaccurate and unrealistic. I highly doubt marines would be rolling through iraq goofing around like 13 year olds headed for a camping trip instead of scanning for targets or trying to detect IEDs or possible ambushes. What is even more absurd is when they have the marine point the 50 at the other humvee. Highly unlikely that a marine would break a cardinal firearm safety rule. They still are the same people that they were in states only with milion dolar equipament. Just google Generation X (not only series of HBO) and find several documentaries and news report about how soldiers behave on deploiment. The patrol purpose is to scan for anny insurgence activtie but what you want no one will be able to scan a IDE or ambush before it happens the soldiers in this movie acted professionaly until they went berserk. all of the Marines involved were charged, and later clreared, of murder. although it is mostly military aged men that fought against us in iraq, it wasn't uncommon for women or children to fight along side them either. i have seen this first hand, with 3 tours in iraq. was what happened in haditha horrible, yes. were the Marines justified, i can't say, but if it had been me, in charge of my team i probably would've been facing the same charges they did

Accidental killing of civlians is a far greater threat than what you can see in the current.

For every civilian you kill, every house you blow up and every man you insult, you throw fuel on the fire that is taliban.

I never said I would want to kill innocent civilians but they failed to alert the U.S. soldiers of the IED and as a result one soldier lost his life and two others were wounded and yes I know your gonna say "well 24 innocent civilians were killed" which is a shame but it happened as a result of them not informing the soldiers.

Do you also recall the civilian family discussing wether they should or shouldnt tell the soldiers which they chose not to. Also the soldiers had a translator so they would be able to communicate with them. In Addition I hope that you understand that the video being shown is a remake/re-enactment of what the director, Nick Broomfield, wanted it to look like. The events that took place in the movie are probably nothing like what actually happened because its just a movie! get it? probably not.

You're very dumb. He didn't say that the events didn't happen. He said that the events depicted may be have been embellished by the director. The Haditha incident was an incident that went down in a way it shouldn't have happened. But we will never know the entire story unless we were there. I believe that this movie was embellished by the director to show the MARINES in a negative light. Lastly, stop calling these guys soldiers, they are MARINES, the term soldier is an insult to them.
