Pretty good for a non LS1 packing F-body. The LT1 is a very respectable runner, even from the factory, and the addition of bolt-ons makes it a solid 300 (rear wheel) horsepower car. The M3 is probably pushing around 330-340 at the wheels? This was a drivers race.
@chrisfromoh over engineered vs focused engineering, there is a difference. Look at nurburgring lap times, corvette zr1 and viper acr are just as fast as a porsche 911 gt2 rs, but the 911 costs more than double for "German Engineering," but it isnt faster than the viper and 1 second faster than the zr1 in a 7 minute race. Get over it, germans are not doing as much for the money anymore.

@floridabowhunter That's not really true. All US BMW rate a bit less on HP, but mainly due to how US vs Germany measure it (it's hp vs bhp), so US tend to be about 1.2% less than original. I guess you also lose a bit due to 91 vs 98 octane gas (but again not measured the same way). It was only really true for the E36 M3 (which used totally different engine in US and EU). Now a Camaro owner call M3 POS ... is just odd ... A house cost more than a trailer-park-home ... you get what you get ...
