I see the "problem"! Eastern European who are adopted by Western will considered native citizens when they become adult and they won't have the immigrant status. -so they won't be available for strict exploitation and increasing profits
Activists who value natural families and do not profit from their abuse and exploitation know this is 100% true. The public must learn how children are "freed" for adoption in the U.S. and abroad. Public officials collude with adoption agents. They spend millions of our taxes and invest their own money spreading false propaganda. I saw an adopter (owner of a Wall Street advertising agency) donate a $7,000,000 ad campaign to the NCFA "non-profit" PAC. Adoption is a multibillion-dollar racket.
What a selfish mother. She remarries, can't bring her child into her new home, so she is placed in an orphanage. And now she is upset that the girl has a permanent home. Bad mothering. It is all about the children, and a mother's love should always wish the best, not act like a child is property.
Pretty ironic comment for a show about how wealthy countries treat other people's children as their property. No one who did not sign away her rights should lose her child. No adoptive mother should be so selfish as to expect a child from a country in which international adoptions have been banned. Romania almost did not get into the EU because of this. Then wealthy countries tried to make handing over the kids a condition of joining NATO. Vile. This woman is a victim, not a criminal.
Wanting to care for your child is not "bad mothering." She did not abuse or neglect her child. She should not have lost her child simply for being poor. Unfortunately, a lot of people in adoption and child welfare define what is best for the child by how much money the birth parents have.
And of course, it should be remembered that not all adoptions result in the child having a better home. Adoptive parents are capable of abusing and neglecting children, too.
It's "rare" ... and "on par with the statistics of biological parents abusing their child."
Don't you see how you've contradicted yourself in the same breath? Abuse by adoptive parents cannot be both "rare" (on a per capita basis) and "on par with biological parents...".
@EuphrasieF I've read the statistics. The child abuse among adoptive parents is running the same statistic at biological parents... meaning no more or less abuse. How is that a contradiction??
@yellowgummibear You have much to learn about natural mothers and stranger adoption. An adoptee friend (a professor at GWU) and I were told by the owner of a large Virginia adoption agency that poor foreign "birth givers don't love their children like we [affluent Americans] do." When we asked what she'd do if her adopted children's real mothers found them, she said she'd scratch their eyes out and kill them. Adoption is legalized child slavery for profit, not a humanitarian rescue mission.
@asynkronos . Yeah you trumped me!! You talked to a owner of an adoption agency in Virginia. I only spent 5 years in Russia raising money for orphanages. Did dossiers for 8 years here in the states. Attended many Hague conferences in my 10+ years of international adoption. So sorry I see humanitarian efforts and you see only what some hillbilly in Virginia said. To say every case or even most cases of adoption are child slavery just shows me you know nothing of international adoption laws.
As an adopted person, this is the reality that we know. Secrecy to conceal the truth, that we have other families, that we are not who we are told we are...

@Peristerygr
In cases when a child has parents (or other relatives) who are willing and able to care for him or her, yes, adoption is wrong.
