I noticed a trend in the 80's, just around and maybe spurred on by Innocent Man. Shortly there after Aretha Franklin had a huge Motown inspired song 'Freeway Of Love', and if you look around, other artists picked up on that sub-trend.
Thats what made the 80's so interesting (early to mid mainly), that people, the audience, record companies, recording artists were open minded, experimental and adventurous and hyper creative!
