What is "Shin"Kyokushin? They say it is shinkyokushin kata but it is Kyokushin kata. WHy did they change name and kanji and everything? Just for money? Why they break up the Kyokushin?
There will come a time when master and student must part ways. Student must now find his own way. The same can be said about Kyokushin. Although we hold strong the teaching of our Sosai, we also interpret it in different ways.
Why must student part way? Only to honor and give back to teacher! It's ok to part ways with right spirit. Shinkyokushin didnt part ways just bank accounts! LOL. They USE teacher, not serve teacher and do not return to Sosai. Common thiefs with nice kicks. If you ask is this Kyokushin they say yes! That is not part ways! This is trechery. They want students saying it is okay but they have nothing that is honorable to show. Students are nice, technique is nice but the shihans are traiters.
@joopsnoop Kyokushin splintered when the founder died in 1994. In 2003 there were 5 major (and a few more minor) groups in Japan all calling themselves the exact same names, all claiming to be the original. In 2003 one of the largest groups, unofficially called IKO2 online, voted to get away from the whole confusing mess and officially renamed their organization. It worked great.
They still claim to be the original kyokushin organization, they just stay out of the legal copyright mess in Japan
Appreciate the intelligent reply. Still doesn't gel. Leave Microsoft & call a company New Microsoft & it confuses. Bill wouldn't let it happen. Shin-Kyokushin is not Kyokushin & has no connection to Sosai. Call it Midori-ryu. Instead they try to convince us they ARE Kyokushin. It's money. Nothing to do with a confusing mess. Running away from the "legal copyright mess" is just bullscheit. That just evades responsibility. Here in Japan they're not allowed to use Sosai's pics or the Dojo Kun.
you miss the point. This is not a group leaving microsoft and creating a new company named new microsoft, This is Microsoft renaming itself new microsoft to get away from all the copycat microsofts.
Shinkyokushin has never renounced the claim that it is the original kyokushin organization. It is just a renaming of the old one.
you might disagree with the basic concept held by shinkyokushin -that WKOshinkyokushinkai is the same as the original IKO kyokushinkaikan, But that is another issue.
If M'soft renamed itself it'd need the legal right to the IP & copyrights. Shin-Kyokushin has no such right. It created its own NEW material: kanji, kanku mark etc. They have no legal right to anything that connects them to Sosai, Kyokushin, his Honbu dojo or his family. They never renounced the claim because by doing so they would have alienated a lot of potential members. Instead, they insist on still being part of Kyokushin so the students feel connected to Sosai. But they have no authority.
Here in Holland this is the way it is being written, but as soon as I get the change, I will adjust (Sushiho) in the name. Then everybody can locate it!
In Holland it's written like this? Than it must be a mistake. I've always learned 'ho' in Holland and I don't know about a reading of 'do' for 歩.

Dear Chris,
