Hi DarkAngel182..Need soome advice if possible..My father used to own a rental shop in salford manchester from 1980 to 1988 before he passed grhs...I was left with all his beta machines and films...i have about 2,000 ex rental films..mostly horror..but one i keep getting asked about is The beast in heat by jvi..is this rare as i have 4 copies..original that is..please advise

Yes it is a fairly rare VHS to come by, you'd probably get a tidy sum for it on Ebay, just be sure to put "pre-cert video nasty" in the item description.

Simple, the authorities based their list on the films title, box art, or recommednations by the press.

In this case, they seized on the title because it had the word "Zombie" in it. They must have had a shock when they came to watch it and found it was just a bad comedy.

by the way, to get zombie flesh eaters uncut in the UK, you can buy it seperately, buy the dead of night collection and that's the best version you can get uncut, but unfortunately some small bits are cut, but not much is cut!

The uncut version was only released in a box set with 4 other films. The disc by Dead of Night is the previously cut 'extreme version', which still misses out some of the gore, but not cut as badly as the old Vipco tape.

well in the dead of night, you still see the eye scene but it's just shortened, and the scene where the group of people go into the house and find the woman being eaten the bit where the zombie picks a bit of her guts and eats it, i noticed that bit was cut, but in the box set does it show the eye scene extended and the whole scene where the zombies eat the woman's body?

The release on the box of the banned set was fully uncut.

Again, the Dead of Night release is still cut, just not as badly as previous releases.

Well there's no reason why Dead of Night couldn;t re-issue this one uncut if they wanted now that it has been passed. They obviously can't be bothered to repress it.

I'd get an uncut import off Ebay personally.

Incidentally, House by the Cemetery has just been passed uncut, so that's another one down!

The australian R4 disc will work in a UK R2 player. There are also numerous European releases that will play on your machine,

by the way, omardogs also has zombie flesh eaters from dead of night, and he said it's the best uncut version in the UK, but i'll watch it this weekend to make my opinion about it, since i just bought it yesterday, however i was lucky to find it in HMV in bond street, it was very hard to find!

It is available on the 'Box of the Banned' collection, which also contains some other nasties released uncut in the UK. Incidentally, I recently saw the previously banned movie 'Late Night Trains' in my local HMV! They'll be stocking 'Anthropophagous the Beast' next!

If you don't already have the book SHOCK! HORROR! by Brewster, Fenton, and Morris, then you should get it. All the video covers from the video nasties and then some. Some of their listed run-times for films is wrong, though. Still a great buy.

I've been meaning to get that Anchor Bay Visiting Hours disc... I've still got a beat-up VHS. Strange it was labelled a video nasty as it's more of a psychological, clinical thriller/drama than a slasher, which is what it was marketed as. Quite good, I thought.

A lot of films that are hard to find these days (on DVD anyway) were actually quite easy to find during the VHS days from some country or other, even if it was just on a bootleg tape or something.

Yes Last House is FINALLY uncut in the UK. Who knows, maybe it'll be an uncut New York Ripper and I Spit on your Grave double bill next?

Its a pretty cool werewolf film with Barry Bostwick and it has Kane Hodder as the monster. Its been out of print in the US and Canada with no DVD in sight. I think the French DVD is the only release. Its good movie. You should check it out if the oppritunity presents itself.

But I came to the conclusion that these are more ornamental items than entertainment, and that a pc game is more entertainment value than anything else in terms of accessibility, bearing in mind your weekly soap (tv) which isnt immediately accessible. Must adnit, I spent quite a bit of money buying various banned films from seedy video fairs back in the 90's, both bootlegs and imports. Had quite an impressive collection too, but now everythings available on DVD and can be mail ordered over the net, its not that impressive anymore.

Collecting these days is a damnsite easier, but its nowehere near as fun as it was when these films were banned or just hard to get hold of.

Being surrounded by hardcore porn and movies at 15 years old was alot to take in. I used to take them home in my schoolbag. I guess were two of a kind. Any video that had not been classified by the BBFC by the time the VRA came into effect in 1984 was effectively "banned" as the new law prohibited the sale of unclasified materials.

Many other films have been either rejected for classification or heavily censored by the board, or were otherwise unavailble for many years, that does not necessairly make them a "video nasty" in the true sense of the word.

Thanks for these videos. I agree the original TOOLBOX MURDERS is very good, atmospheric music score and acting from Mitchell that just stays on the right side of camp. But I also like Tobe Hooper's 'remake'. VISITING HOURS was ok but a better hospital horror thriller is TERMINAL CHOICE but not a Video Nasty (but then VISITING HOURS should never have been a Nasty.) FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN (uncut) is well worth checking out, also the companion BLOOD FOR DRACULA. Anyway thanks again.
