  • Wheres moon walk????

  • let the real art florish let real artis that have a message and actualy pays an instument and have a band that can do a concert, show what music is allabout,,,,,

  • i need love

  • VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR

  • the Industry is just that...an industry...they are there to make money...the money is what keeps you the artist alive...they even help you get started...you signed the contract...did you not read it?.....if they are doing you an injustise its only because you allowed it...you signed the contract....what are you bitching about....you blame a record corperation for your down fall but you signed the contract....jesus its so easy to pass the blame

  • 'Sorry, I gotta get on my high horse for a moment. The main problem I see with the mainstream music industry is lack of talent.'

I believe that is due to the dumbing down of the public via lowering educational standards in school and cultural degradation over the years.. Just look at the stars of the 1960s, 70s, lesser in the 80s, even lesser in the 90s, and what those people watched, listened to, were taught in school, and were influenced while they were growing up and minds molded, etc.

  • I won't be as diplomatic as Frank. There's way too much CRAP and lack of REAL talent out there being promoted by the powers that be in the music industry who could care less about creativity and genuine talent and only concern is PROFITS. That's a FACT.

  • I totally agree with this video..I spent 22 years selling music in different realms & I got sick & tired of the corporate takeover....radio is now run by consultants and lets face it...even hard core fans don't want to hear their favourite songs 20 times a week....radio & TV have shot themselves in the foot....sad!!!

thank you to whoever sent this video....this is the truth from these artist own mouths

  • Frank nailed it... "Video Killed The Radio Star"

    indeed.

  • boy oh boy is he right, when you had an LP, you listened to it from start to finish over and over again. now i have tons of downloaded shit on dvds and i will probably never get around to hearing 2/3 of the stuff, and most of contemporary stuff i hear is utter shit. grunge happened in '91, metal happened in the 80's, hard rock in the 70's, beatles and stones and others in the 60's, presley and cash in the 50's, in the 40's and 30's so many great things happened.. and in the 2000's? 2010's? Nada!

  • Thanks for posting.

Another key reason is that change is long overdue. When grunge hit big (almost 2 decades ago) it was as if rock had been given a new breath. It was as if people had been unknowingly waiting for it to happen. No offense, but 99.9% of music hitting the radio today is shit. We want something new and groundbreaking, but haven't figured out what it is yet. I'm a writer/singer/composer/musician and I haven't a clue what it's gonna be... yet :), but we have to keep trying.

Sorry, I gotta get on my high horse for a moment. The main problem I see with the mainstream music industry is lack of talent. Granted, formats are changing to self promotion, but in my opinion, the biggest reason for decline is the record industry's distortion and control of mass produced music. No one looks to sign talent, they look to see who's most marketable right now, turn a quick buck and then it's out with the old and in with the new.

  • not sure why they'd show randy from lamb of god..there pretty well off now

  • hey mate am i able to buy this dvd in australia? i cant seem to find it in many places

  • It currently isn't released in Austrailia yet, but the DVD is Region 0 (region-free). If you order from a US or Canadian based distributor it will play in your player, provided you can handle an NTSC signal.

  • cool cheers for that man

  • 100% true, awsome movie bringing out the truth!

  • yo unstable ground, thank you for doing this. Being a musician myself I really appreciate someone investigating and and interviewing bands to find out what's really going on. I hope your DVD gets out there and exposes a lot man. Thanks again.

  • Part 1.

Frank is so, so right. If any band was good enough, fans would go out of their way to make sure that they saw them, even if it meant hitch-hikin' or not even being able to get home. All just to say that you saw them!! Like football matches etc, the people marketing the "product" are catering for the "prawn-sandwich brigade" who can appreciate the "whole experience".

  • Part2.

Give me 3 and 1/4 hours in a old venue, of standing watching someone who, over the decades, has earned my undivided attention simply by being a fantastic musician, and I'll take it any (and every) day. But the people that be, must realise just what music is and was all about... it's just that bloke(s), there in front of you, giving you memories that will last forever. Nothing else.

  • nice vid...and so true. i have talked to frank on this subject. the clock is ticking for the record companys....they are on their way out.....and self promotion & self production will be the future of the industry. rock on! russ.

  • While I'll neither defend or support specific comments made by the subjects in the film, I will state that I think you somewhat misinterpreted the point Frank was making. He was simply saying that spectacle replaced musicianship, and opened the doors for a ton of acts to oversaturate the business.. sort of a cause and effect. It wasn't a specific comment about rock or metal, but about the nature of the scenes in general.

  • Great trailer. It reveals a lot, and it mainly focuses on people from metal. I suppose metal is the least bit affected by the changes. But, isnt a bit hypocritical to say rock is beer music when metal has always been played in similar venues?
