How can anyone read about this Penn State Scandal, and then be shocked when you tell them that a group of extremely rich and powerful people are trying to form a One World Fascist Government? This is a supremely unpopular opinion, but I do believe it's unfair. Not because I do not believe our home-town heroes are capable of such acts, but because I believe that Legends like Joe Paterno who have done so much for our community deserve more than an over-the- phone dismissal, furthermore, he deserves to retain his innocence until a trial is held. In my opinion, there was no "computer glitch," this was an intentional, malicious leak.
It is no surprise that Governor Corbett endorses Joe Paterno's firing. Let's consider the real facts in this case. Gov. Corbett's only reason for going from Attorney General to Governor was to get on the Penn State Board of Trustees so that when the courts finally got down to charging Sandusky, he could then leak the Grand Jury Testimony and use the power of being on the board, along with the resulting media circus to get the entire football program fired.

He nevertheless reported it to the athletic director and most likely expected an internal investigation. How long he should have waited for an investigation to be conducted by others is wide open to debate. He's an elderly football coach, not Magnum PI. If he'd gone directly to the police he risked destroying the reputation of a possibly falsely accused man. Paterno himself had no evidence.

This is a supremely unpopular opinion, but I do believe it's unfair. Not because I do not believe our home-town heroes are capable of such acts, but because I believe that Legends like Joe Paterno who have done so much for our community deserve more than an over-the- phone dismissal, furthermore, he deserves to retain his innocence until a trial is held. In my opinion, there was no "computer glitch," this was an intentional, malicious leak.

It is no surprise that Governor Corbett endorses Joe Paterno's firing. Let's consider the real facts in this case. Gov. Corbett's only reason for going from Attorney General to Governor was to get on the Penn State Board of Trustees so that when the courts finally got down to charging Sandusky, he could then leak the Grand Jury Testimony and use the power of being on the board, along with the resulting media circus to get the entire football program fired.

@catethulhu Joe Paterno DID WHAT HE WAS LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO DO which was inform his superiors the AD and president of PSU are the ones who should be fired not Joe Paterno. Could he of done more? Yes but you don't just fire a coach like Joe Paterno.
I feel bad for what happened to those kids and I'm not justifying deviant behaviour at all but child molestation happens everyday. Coaches like Joe Patern, Bear Bryant, and Bobby Bowden don't come around very often.

@wiggiecl73 No, but if it was his kid or a family members kid would he have not followed up?How would you feel if it was your kid or your little brother would you think that he did enough?He knew and and did report it ...but nothing happened and he said nothing else ,kids kept getting molested and he said nothing because of football. All the talk about integrity ,discipline,commitment means what to whom when he allowed a molester to continue instead of practicing what he preached.

@Eginyn Bullshit. He did was he was suppose to at the most fundamental level, and nothing more. He reported it to who he was suppose to inside the school. He, as a human being seeing children being raped, has a moral obligation. When his superiors shirked their duty to handle it, he and others should have went to the police. Anyone who knows what happened and let the school handle it (by doing nothing) is fucking disgusting, and it's disgusting you think punishing him is stupid.

@Chimpeach All Paterno had was the word of a grad student against the word of his former assistant. He nevertheless reported it to the athletic director and most likely expected an internal investigation. How long he should have waited for an investigation to be conducted by others is wide open to debate. He's an elderly football coach, not Magnum PI. If he'd gone directly to the police he risked destroying the reputation of a possibly falsely accused man. Paterno himself had no evidence.

He deserved to be fired and have has his legacy tarnished forever. I don't think he necessarily covered it up himself or that he is a bad person, but he knew enough. @Chimpeach And that is were your argument is fundamentally flawed. Joe Paterno NEVER saw it, it was seen by an assistant coach and reported to him. He had NO evidence, nor did he witness it so he went to his superiors to report it which is what is required of him. The fact that you are unable to be objective about this proves your inability to make rational decisions, you are simply a member of the torch carrying mob who knows nothing of the facts.
