Please tell me this isn't true. Panahi is a master - is this genius filmmaker really in a prison right now? Can someone send me a link for a full article or something, this is outrageous. I am stunned right now. He is one of the best living filmmakers!! Can't any famous people try and help him like big directors did for Polanski when he was detained?

They invited Panahi to serve on its jury and the chair was empty during the whole Berlinale.

There is a panel discussion "Censored Cinema" with Iranian film-makers, they show 5 of his films..

What do you expect them to do? I think they expresed respect and solidarity.
