The load times in DX sucked. I also think the shininess of Sonic looks crap. Plus DX had a bunch of glitches and bugs that the Dreamcast version didn't have. I prefer the look of the models in the Dreamcast version. It has a certain charm. Maybe it's just nostalgia clouding my judgement...but I think DX was a pretty shitty "upgrade"

Personally, I'm glad to have the PC and Gamecube DX version. (I have one for the GC cuz I also have Sonic Adventure 2, and I wanted to trade chao using the game boy advance and you can't hook up the game boy advance to the PC version. Well, I bet my dad could figure out SOME way, but whatever.)

Dreamcast (a 1998 hardware) version came in 1998 while the Gamecube version came in 2003. Unsurprisingly the latter will have better modelled characters and lighting (back where transform and lighting was abused giving plastic look) given the years difference. Play both on a VGA or a HD monitors to see the texture of DC still sharp. I personally prefer Dreamcast version.

@yuriwriter Because the XBLA-PSN is just a port of the "Sonic Adventure DX" and isn't HD and have fucking borders in the sides of screen. Try to compare Mystic Ruins of the Dreamcast version with the other version. The only better thing are models but in the in the XBLA-PSN version are too shiny.

@SpaceBlizard The graphics are the worst in the DC, it just has different stage textures then the DX release. Plus the models and the lighting have been improved for the DX release. Although I don't like the shiny models there still overall better models. O yea and the load times have been increased for the DX version. Also the music doesn't reset in the HubWorlds.

the gamecube one sucks sooo hard. sure they are cleaner but the shiny effect is so bad. sonics spikes in the DC version are way better. Also knuckles looks so bad with his flat head on the GC version. DC version is way better because the characters are more classic.

Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast had Classic Sonic looks (Black eyes, chubbier, etc.). It wasn't until Sonic Adventure 2 where they made Modern Sonic (Green Eyes, skinnier, taller). Since Sonic Adventure DX comes after SA2, they changed him to Modern looks.

Obviously, the original gets credit for the actual content, but the Gamecube version is obviously superior. This is a GOOD thing. For the Dreamcast version to be better would be unacceptable and I would want my money back because DX means I expect it to be an advanced version.

Dreamcast: Better water effects, much better frame rate(30-60 frames mostly 60)

VMU feature, can go on internet thanks to DCISOZONE, better camera, and Sonics charecter model resembles Classic Sonic. Better Controls.

Gamecube: Brighter Lighting, Shiny Charecter Models, Lower frame rates, 15-30, worse camera and worse controls because of the frame rates. Lame Ass game gear games, and boring ass mission mode.

I have played both. The Dreamcast version at a friends house and I bought the Gamecube version. The Gamecube version has bonus content that isn't stupid (Christmas trees, but no snow? Really?) like mission mode and bonus games from Game Gear which rule. The Gamecube version obviously looks better, that's a bonus. There isn't a single reason to put the Dreamcast version above the Gamecube version other than being a stubborn Dreamcast fanboy.
