When I was a teenager this song was in crazy heavy rotation when I visited my family in the south but u hardly heard it in NY, tho we wore the grooves out of "Wet My Whistle"
"OOOOOOOHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH" Now thats what I call REAL music, goosebumps, hair standing up on my neck, flush over my whole body, feet start tapping....eyes glazing over. LONG LIVE THE 80`s,no decade was better, nor will there ever be 1 better...
I love this song!!! It made me search for the meaning of "Midas" back then when there was no internet...luckily my Mom had a good classical education ;)
and 95% of the people that are listening to that B.o.B. song don't realize he got it from midnight star.... people need to educate themselves and listen to "older" music because obviously artists today are sampling it for a reason!
I am a GenXer and my generation has come out with some ok stuff, but nothing memorable like the old school stuff. Shalamar's Night to Remember is also a good jam.
Loved and still love this track..was 15 when this came out but have to say even back then at the height of the 80's, i though they're style was dated not to mention nauseating!! BUT lurve the track!!!
When you have nine Kentucky State University students such as Reggie Calloway, Vincent Calloway, Bo Watson, Melvin Gentry, Belinda Lipscomb, Kenneth Gant, Bill Simmons, Bobby Lovelace, and Jeffrey Cooper, you have the funkiest band on the SOLAR label known as "MIDNIGHT STAR" AKA the fellow defenders of the funk.
that lead singer had an overbite...you could have those back then and still be kewl, lol.
he never got any credit but he could sing because lead a few others too.
they are in town right now (houston) and we have a concert....i am going to it..hell, i work at the radio station that is giving the party...radio one baby!!!!
@xylina209 me too i totally agree well im no longer 13 i recently turned 14 and my mom calls me old she says im older than her lol and she's like 40 haha

This is real music! real bands that make sense.
All the cussing and ignorance and helium singers
and rappers, Nicki Minaj, Eniem, Snoop Dogg and
singers over killing sex is not real music and seems
very desperate to get noticed! The 80's was fun and
made you want to listen to what they had to say. And
grandma and moms could listen and laugh and fall
in love to it's ballets.

ravinjordan12 1 year ago
@southsudanese , you know that's right! this was and still is
the jam. I love old skool rap, when it was fun and no cussing
and gang violence. Today's kids are missing out on real music,
real artist and live bands. No music is better than the 60's soul,
70's and 80's music . Jam on it! California style..lol class of 1988.
